The birthday of our first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which falls on 14 November, was chosen as the ideal day to celebrate Children’s Day. The decision was made to honor Nehru’s love for children and his commitment to their welfare. Nehru believed that children were the future of the country and they should be provided with a nurturing environment to grow, learn and flourish. Thus, Children’s Day became a way to celebrate Nehru’s legacy and promote the well-being of every child in the country.

Jawaharlal Nehru, fondly known as Chacha Nehru, was not only a visionary leader but also deeply connected with children. Children’s Day Speech – The mid of November is a very special occasion for us. Every year we celebrate 14th November as Children’s day. We celebrate it because it’s the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru . His bond and fondness with children are legendary.

How We Celebrate Children’s Day?

In schools and institutions is a day of fun, most of the schools organize several entertainment programs and exciting competitions for the children. However, the day is incomplete without a reflection of the ideas and values that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru lived by.

He has come from a very fortunate background but it did not affect his attitude. Also, his family wealth was enough to have him a place of honor in British India. Still, he chose to be at the side of Mahatma Gandhi and become an important part of the freedom struggle.

Moreover, he dedicated himself completely for the cause of the nation, from the Civil disobedience movement to Satyagraha. From jail terms to negotiating the terms of our independence he was there. He has shown us a path that can help us to reclaim our rightful position as leaders of the world.

His Personal life

He has set an excellent example for the youngsters, parents, and teachers of our country. In this era of technology, we all have complaints and most of the lack of time. Nehruji proves that all these barriers have been built up by our minds.

In 1928, he was busy attending to the work of the Congress, and call for the Purna Swaraj was a hopeful spark and at that time his 10-year-old daughter Indira was studying in Mussoorie.

However, the great man manages to shape the mind of his young daughter. The letter that he wrote to his daughter is what we now know as “Letters From A Father To His Daughter”. Which gave us the dynamic leader Indira Gandhi.

Even though his imprisonment term he manages ton pen down one of the finest books of Indian history- The Discovery of India. All these examples are enough to motivate teachers and parents. Nehruji’s life encounter can show parents, teachers, and thinkers to shape up the young mind and lead them to greatness.

The Bitter Truth of Today

Today, the children of our country are fighting for basic healthcare and education. On this occasion, I would like to put forward some alarming data. In the Asian continent, India is the leading country when it comes to the employment of child labor.

Moreover, around 33 million children are working in various industries which are about the firth of child labor working worldwide. Also, many of these children are working in hazardous industries such as bangle making, matchbox making, precious stone cutting, etc.

By not making an effort to stop child labor and by not making primary education available to each child we are entrusting their future and our own into darkness. When each one of us makes a concrete effort towards this evil, only then we can make our country successful and great just like Nehruji, Mahatma Gandhi and other leaders had envisioned.

To sum it up, I extend my warmest greetings and wishes you all a Happy Children’s Day. In addition, let’s celebrate this day with joy and fully appreciate the gift of childhood that has been given to us. However, let us also remember the great responsibility that is ours towards this society and a better India.

Greetings to everyone present here on this auspicious occasion of Children’s Day. It is celebrated every year on 14 November which marks the birth of our beloved late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He reigned for 16 years during which he always encouraged for Children’s rights,protection,health and schooling. He was tutored privately with a coach in his early years and he understood the significance of education and the impact it can leave in a person’s life. He loved his time with youngsters and kids also were keen on him as they cited him as “Chacha Nehru '' .

He had a wonderful vision for India to become a global leader. He recognized that this was only possible if the youth were nurtured from an early age and given the freedom to dream and access to their fundamental rights. Education and health were of utmost importance and he emphasised the importance of these rights to the people. He encouraged parents and teachers to foster creativity and openness to ideas in children. Let us honour the beliefs of our beloved Prime Minister and work towards making our nation proud. The future lies in our hands. I wish everyone here a Happy Children's Day.

Welcome to the Children's Day celebration on November 14, also known as Bal Divas in Hindi (Bal meaning "Child" and Divas meaning "Day"). This day honors Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately referred to as Chacha Nehru, who was fond of children and had a special connection with them. He was born in Allahabad in 1889 and educated by private tutors in his childhood. After his passing in 1964, his birthday was declared Children's Day to celebrate the child within us, remember the importance of childlike qualities and revisit our inner child.

Nehru dedicated his life to the betterment and welfare of children, leading to the creation of various laws, including the protection of children's rights under the Indian Constitution. All children under 18 have the right to be cared for by guardians and parents until the age of 18, and differently-abled children have the right to special care.

The belief that Chacha Nehru had in us is reflected in the faith that our parents and teachers have in us. Children's Day is a tribute to Chacha Nehru's beliefs about the significance of children for the growth and development of a nation. To honor and cherish his beliefs, we should strive to be the best versions of ourselves.

Today we assemble to celebrate a day dedicated to the young hopes and aspirations of the country. Today, we celebrate childhood and the birthday of a man who cherished the joys of childhood throughout his enriched life, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. It falls on the 14 th of November every year.

The first Prime Minister of Independent India was a man who loved to make children smile. He loved to see the beautiful and innocent expression and his independence with which children smiled. Due to his love and affection for kids, he was also called ‘Chacha Nehru’ (Uncle Nehru).

The day itself is celebrated in all the schools in the country. There is a distribution of sweets and new clothes. All the children engage in various fun and games. There are essay competitions, debates, drawing contests, poetry festivals, etc held everywhere.

• In the beginning , there should be a summary of the report so that the readers can make out what will be in the report. The summary of the report increases the interest of the readers.
• Introduction of the Report:  The introduction of the report should be self-explanatory of the report and should explain what you’re about to explain.
• Body of report:  The body of the report should explain all major happenings. There should be headings and subheadings. It explains the whole event in detail. The introduction and conclusion contain one or two paragraphs, while the body may have more pages.
• After  a report, the reporter brings all of the facts in the report together and reaches a final interpretation or judgment.

What can be included in report writing?

There is no hard and fast rule about what should be included in a report, especially at the school level. We can create our format at our convenience. But still, we can include the following in report writing:

• Generally, a report’s title is used if a person has to read multiple reports. In this way, he can easily make out which report is useful for him.
• A table of contents can be used if the report is lean and has more than four subheadings.
• Page numbering can be included in the report has more than one page. But for students, it is generally not required as they are writing a small report for the examination.
• Headings and subheadings should be used as they help us when skimming or scanning. They make it easy for the reader to understand the facts easily.
• If we used information from other articles, we must include references and quotations. We should always give credit to others’ written work if we used it to complete our report.

Various cultural events and competitions were held. The programme began with a speech on Children’s Day by Mansi, a class 12 student. A student of class 5 recited a poem on Children’s Day. Class 11 students performed Haryanvi dance as part of a cultural program. It was an excellent cultural programme.

A Haryanvi dance was performed by class 11 pupils as part of a cultural presentation. Excellent cultural programming was provided.

The principal and the special guest gave speeches to the students at the end of the Children’s Day programme to inform them of the significance of the holiday. The N.S.S. in-charge gave the pupils candy as a way to wrap up the session.

There are eight parts of speech in the English language. All students begin using these parts as soon as they begin studying the English language. Unfortunately, very few of them know how to use them properly. Let’s get started with nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections.

• A noun is a name for something, an animal, a person, or a place, and they are the foundation of any language. Some examples include table, ram, cat, and elephant.
• Pronouns can be used in place of nouns, allowing us to form sentences without having to repeat the nouns every time. We, I, and you.
• A verb is an action, and a sentence would be incomplete without one. It defines action and is crucial in writing a speech and expressing the tone.
• An adjective describes a word and, in most cases, comes before the noun.

How can we start a good speech in the school prayer?

Children’s Day is celebrated on different dates in different countries, however, it is celebrated every year in India on the occasion of the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14 November. November 14 is the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of independent India, which is celebrated every year as Children’s Day all over India.

Whereas, 1 June is celebrated as International Children’s Day and on 20 November as Universal Children’s Day.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru loved children very much. He loved to play and talk with children.

He was the Prime Minister of India, however, while carrying out his political responsibilities towards the country, he preferred to be amongst the children.

He was a very friendly person, always motivating and encouraging children to become patriotic and happy citizens. He was very inspirational and inspired in nature. Children used to call him Chacha Nehru because of his love and affection.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was fond of roses and children throughout his life. Once he said that children are like the buds in the garden. He was very concerned about the condition of the children in the country as he considered children the country’s future.

He wanted the children to be nurtured by their parents with great care and love for the country’s bright future.

He considered children as the real strength of the nation. He loved both girls and boys equally and believed in providing equal opportunities to them for the real development of the nation. The children affectionately called him Chacha Nehru.

After the death of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, his birthday was celebrated as Children’s Day all over India. It is involved in various types of activities like fancy dress competitions, singing competitions, etc. are organized on this day.

Children’s Day Celebration Organization tells the importance of children in building the future of the nation. The objective of organizing this festival is for all the Indian citizens to save their young children from all harm and provide them a better childhood.

Nowadays, children are falling prey to many types of social evils like drug, child abuse, alcohol, sex, labor, violence, etc. They are forced to work hard at a very young age to get a little money.

They are deprived of a healthy life, parental love, education, and other childhood happiness. Children are the invaluable asset of the nation as well as the hope of the future and tomorrow, so they should be given proper care and love.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday was chosen to be celebrated as Children’s Day because of his love, affection and affection for children. He loved playing and talking with children. He always wanted to be around children. He worked hard for the betterment of children and youth of the country.

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was very enthusiastic and full of enthusiasm towards children, especially for their welfare, rights, education, and overall reform to make this country a developed nation.

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was very inspirational and inspired in nature. He always inspired the children to do hard work and acts of bravery.

Good morning everyone. I welcome you all to the children’s day celebration and wish each one a Happy Children’s Day. This day marks the birth anniversary of a great leader Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was the first Prime Minister of India. He was born on 14th November 1889 in Allahabad to Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani. His father was a prominent lawyer and mother was a simple and pious lady. Nehru had his early education at home and also had private tutors as well as a European governess to teach him.

In 1905, at the age of fifteen, his father took him to England, and there he joined the famous public school called Harrow. Two years later, he went to Trinity College in Cambridge. On finishing college, he passed his barrister’s degree from the Inner Temple and returned to India in 1912. Under his father’s guidance, he started his practice as a barrister. However, the conditions in India under the British made him blue. He was greatly impressed by Shri Gopal Krishna Gokhale’s speech and thoughts which redirected his objective towards serving the nation.

Later in 1916, he was married to Kamala, and the following year, their daughter Indira was born. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in which innocent lives of civilians were lost gave a grave setback to him. It proved to be a turning point in his life as he gave up practice and full-fledged joined the freedom struggle along with his father. In 1921, he participated in Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-cooperation Movement. He was also elected as the President of the National Congress and later imprisoned for six months. During his time in prison, he wrote several books such as Discovery of India, An Autobiography, Glimpse of World etc.

In 1947, after a severe struggle, India gained independence, and he was appointed as the Prime Minister of India. Under his administration, he paved a new way for growth and development of the nation. There were changes and modifications in domestic, economic, agricultural and social policies. Several industries were established to boost the country’s economy. He believed that the future of the bright nation depends on the education of the youth; hence he emphasized on training the children in the best possible way.

In his Five Year Plan programme, he made primary education compulsory for all the children. Despite being an advocate of non-violence and peace, he understood the significance of having a strong defence system. He was overly fond of children and loved them. Because of his love, even children loved and respected him in return. They addressed him as ‘Chacha Nehru’. Due to this fondness and affection, children’s day is celebrated every year on his birthday.

He is known as the constructor of modern India because of his remarkable contribution in serving his country. In 1955, the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, conferred on him the Bharat Ratna in recognition of his service. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude by thanking everyone for attending the program and would end by quoting Chacha Nehru’s famous saying; Time is not measured by the passing of years but by what one does, what one feels, and what one achieves.

House Republican budget calls for raising the retirement age for Social Security

WASHINGTON — A new budget by a large and influential group of House Republicans calls for raising the Social Security retirement age for future retirees and restructuring Medicare.

The proposals, which are unlikely to become law this year, reflect how many Republicans will seek to govern if they win the 2024 elections. And they play into a fight President Joe Biden is seeking to have with former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party as he runs for re-election.

The budget was released Wednesday by the Republican Study Committee , a group of more than 170 House GOP lawmakers, including many allies of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. Apart from fiscal policy, the budget endorses a series of bills “designed to advance the cause of life,” including the Life at Conception Act, which would aggressively restrict abortion and potentially threaten in vitro fertilization , or IVF, by establishing legal protections for human beings at “the moment of fertilization.” It has recently caused consternation within the GOP following backlash to an Alabama Supreme Court ruling that threatened IVF.

The RSC, which is chaired by Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., counts among its members Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and his top three deputies in leadership. Johnson chaired the RSC from 2019 to 2021; his office did not immediately respond when asked about the new budget.

For Social Security, the budget endorses "modest adjustments to the retirement age for future retirees to account for increases in life expectancy." It calls for lowering benefits for the highest-earning beneficiaries. And it emphasizes that those ideas are not designed to take effect immediately: "The RSC Budget does not cut or delay retirement benefits for any senior in or near retirement."

The new budget also calls for converting Medicare to a "premium support model," echoing a proposal that Republican former Speaker Paul Ryan had rallied support for. Under the new RSC plan, traditional Medicare would compete with private plans and beneficiaries would be given subsidies to shop for the policies of their choice. The size of the subsidies could be pegged to the "average premium" or "second lowest price" in a particular market, the budget says.

The plan became a flashpoint in the 2012 election, when Ryan was GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's running mate, and President Barack Obama charged that it would "end Medicare as we know it." Ryan defended it as a way to put Medicare on better financial footing, and most of his party stood by him.

Medicare is projected to become insolvent in 2028, and Social Security will follow in 2033. After that, benefits will be forcibly cut unless more revenues are added.

Biden has blasted Republican proposals for the retirement programs, promising that he will not cut benefits and instead proposing in his recent White House budget to cover the future shortfall by raising taxes on upper earners.

The RSC budget also presents a conundrum for Trump, who has offered shifting rhetoric on Social Security and Medicare without proposing a clear vision for the future of the programs.

Notably, the RSC budget presents three possible options to address the projected insolvency of the retirement programs: raise taxes, transfer money from the general fund or reduce spending to cover the shortfall.

It rejects the first two options.

"Raising taxes on people will further punish them and burden the broader economy–something that the spend and print regime has proven to be disastrous and regressive," the budget says, adding that the committee also opposes "a multi-trillion-dollar general fund transfer that worsens our fiscal situation."

That leaves spending cuts.

The RSC budget launches blistering criticism at "Obamacare," or the Affordable Care Act, and calls for rolling back its subsidies and regulations that were aimed at extending insurance coverage.

I take immense pleasure to thank the school for giving me the opportunity to deliver a speech on the importance of Children’s Day. Being a parent, I realize how important it is in the recent times to rejoice this wonderful occasion. It was Pundit Nehru’s dream that all the children of the nation must be educated and knowledgeable which mainly implies that they should be paying attention to all subjects equally as every subject is associated with certain amount of concepts which will help you to grow in your future life.

In memory of the great leader and to honor his love for children, November 14 is celebrated in India as Children’s Day. It is also referred to as Bal Diwas by a number of people. Several children across the world suffer from atrocities which are innumerable. We must ensure that the rights of children are protected and they are not exploited. It is rightly said that “God is closest to children because their hearts and minds are pure and innocent”.

Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru believed that children must be provided with love and attention as they are the future bearers of a nation. Children truly deserve a day that is dedicated to them. All across the world, different countries celebrate Children’s Day. You all are the picture of innocence and everybody adores children. It is a day specially set aside to honor children and celebrate your presence. This day is dedicated to children and everybody tries their best to make you all happy on this day.

Though, universally, Children’s Day takes place on 20 th November. The United Nations has declared this day as Children’s Day and it is intended to promote the welfare and wellbeing of children and also to celebrate childhood. Although November 20 th  is celebrated worldwide as Children’s Day, different countries have their own special day to celebrate this propitious occasion.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru being the first Prime Minister of India was very fond of children. The world may remember him as the first Indian Prime Minister and a skilled politician, but for children he was always considered as Chacha Nehru.

Despite being a polished and perceptive political leader, Nehru was immensely fond of being surrounded by children. He never discriminated between a girl and a boy as his ideology emphasized more on the concept of equality. Nehru Ji was a patient listener and he admired children while they spoke. He believed that children are the future of a nation and educating them is a step towards the progress of a nation.

Children’s Day is an occasion where we all should collectively take an oath for the safety of our children. The growing rate of crime in today’s scenario against children baffles parents and teachers to the core. We want that our children should be safe and to assure this aspect we need to educate them not only by imparting formal education, but it becomes our duty to make them aware about the social evils prevalent in our society. They should be taught to be alert every second in their life and should also be made aware about the difference between a good and a bad touch.

It would be then that we could provide them with a safe environment both at home and school. Therefore, children are tender buds and it becomes our duty to assure them, a safe atmosphere which they rightfully deserve. Celebrating Children’s Day just as a convention is not enough rather we should collectively take certain measures to protect their childhood as they are our young minds who will support our country to grow in an optimistic manner with novel ideas.

Former Mormon bishop highlighted in AP investigation arrested on felony child sex abuse charges

A former bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who was featured in an Associated Press investigation into how the church protects itself from allegations of sexual abuse was arrested by police in Virginia this week after being indicted on charges he sexually abused his daughter while accompanying her on a school trip when she was a child, according to court filings.

Police and federal authorities had been searching for John Goodrich after a grand jury in Williamsburg on Jan. 17 found probable cause that he committed four felonies, including rape by force, threat or intimidation, forcible sodomy, and two counts of felony aggravated sexual battery by a parent of a child.

Those charges were filed weeks after the AP investigation revealed how a representative of the church, widely known as the Mormon church, employed a risk management playbook that has helped it keep child sexual abuse cases secret after allegations surfaced that Goodrich abused his daughter Chelsea, now in her 30s, at their home in Idaho as well as on a school field trip to the Washington, D.C., area 20 years ago.

“I hope this case will finally bring justice for my childhood sexual abuse,” Chelsea Goodrich said in a statement to the AP. “I’m grateful it appears that the Commonwealth of Virginia is taking one event of child sexual assault more seriously than years of repeated assaults were treated in Idaho.”

A call Wednesday to John Goodrich’s cellphone went immediately to voicemail. Tommy Norment, a Williamsburg defense attorney for John Goodrich, declined to comment, saying he was still familiarizing himself with the case. The Williamsburg Police Department also did not respond to multiple requests for comment on Goodrich’s case.

Goodrich’s arrest in Virginia comes nearly eight years after he was arrested in Idaho on similar charges. Chelsea and her mother, Lorraine, went to Idaho police in 2016 to report wide-ranging allegations of abuse during her childhood.

Those charges were eventually dropped after a key witness in the case, another Mormon bishop to whom John had made a spiritual confession about him and his daughter, refused to testify. While the details of that confession have not been made public, the church excommunicated Goodrich.

The AP’s investigation was based in part on hours of audio recordings of Chelsea’s 2017 meetings with Paul Rytting, a Utah attorney who was head of the church’s Risk Management Division, which works to protect the church against sexual abuse lawsuits and other costly claims.

Chelsea went to Rytting for help in getting the bishop to testify about John’s spiritual confession. During the recorded meetings, Rytting expressed concern for what he called John’s “significant sexual transgression,” but said the bishop, whose position in the church is akin to a Catholic priest, could not testify. He cited a “clergy-penitent privilege” loophole in Idaho’s mandatory reporting law that exempts clergy from having to divulge information about child sex abuse that is gleaned in a spiritual confession.

Without that testimony, prosecutors in Idaho dropped that earlier case.

Invoking the clergy privilege was just one facet of the risk management playbook that Rytting employed in the Goodrich matter. Rytting offered Chelsea and her mother $300,000 in exchange for a confidentiality agreement and a pledge to destroy their recordings of their meetings, which they had made at the recommendation of an attorney and with Rytting’s knowledge. The AP obtained similar recordings that were made by a church member at the time who attended the meetings as Chelsea’s advocate.

The church also employed the use of its so-called sex abuse Helpline, which John Goodrich’s bishop had called after his confession. As AP revealed in 2022, the Helpline is a phone number set up by the church for bishops to report instances of child sex abuse. Instead of connecting church victims to counseling or other services, however, the Helpline often reports serious allegations of abuse to a church law firm.

In a statement to the AP for its recent investigation, the church said, “the abuse of a child or any other individual is inexcusable,” and that John Goodrich, following his excommunication, “has not been readmitted to church membership.”

News coverage of the Idaho case brought out another alleged victim. After learning about Chelsea’s allegations, a 53-year-old single mother accused him of having nonconsensual sex with her after giving her the drug Halcion, a controlled substance John Goodrich often used to sedate patients during dental procedures. She alleged that Goodrich drugged her the previous July after she cut off a sexual relationship with him.

In the end, John Goodrich reached a plea agreement in that case, and escaped sex crimes charges.

Chelsea Goodrich approached the AP with her story, she said, because her father remained free and practicing dentistry in Idaho with access to children.

On Tuesday, after authorities spent two weeks searching for him, Goodrich turned himself in to police in Williamsburg, a court official told Chelsea Goodrich, and he posted bond. He will be allowed to leave Virginia during legal proceedings, the court official said.
