How to Easily Create a SlideShare Presentation
Updated: January 06, 2021
Published: January 05, 2021
You know how hot visual content is, and you want to jump on board to enjoy the engagement, traffic, and leads that follow. But maybe you're not keen on writing a blog post, and you don't have the production resources to create videos. What to do? Create a SlideShare presentation.
What is a SlideShare presentation?
A SlideShare presentation is a presentation hosted on SlideShare.net, a hosting service for presentations and infographics that functions as the world's largest content sharing community. By submitting a SlideShare presentation, you have the opportunity to get your content in front of their more than 80 million monthly visitors.
I know, I know. You may have felt personally victimized by PowerPoint sometime in your career. When you open it up, you're hit with stark black Calibri font on a white background, killing any creative spark you may have felt. It's daunting enough to create a 10-slide deck to report your monthly marketing metrics -- never mind putting together slides that can be seen by the large volume of SlideShare users.
Well, there's good news: Creating a SlideShare presentation in PowerPoint doesn't have to be that daunting. With the right templates and tools at your disposal, you could easily create an engaging, visual presentation -- all without fancy design programs, huge budgets, or hiring contractors.
How to Create a Stunning SlideShare Presentation in PowerPoint
To help you make a SlideShare of your own, we've created some free PowerPoint presentation templates for making awesome SlideShares. That way, your presentations will look great and be a breeze to put together.
Download the free PowerPoint templates , scroll down, and we'll walk through how to use them. When we're done, you'll know exactly how to create a sexy presentation that gets featured on SlideShare's homepage. Ready? Let's dive in.
1. Get a feel for the types of presentations you can find on SlideShare.
Just as you'd master any other medium, it helps to consume other content in that medium to get an idea of the format and what works. Go to SlideShare.net and discover SlideShares that interest you. You can view them on the platform or download them to your computer and peruse them on your local machine.
SlideShare Presentation Download
Here's how to download a PowerPoint from SlideShare:
- Sign up for a SlideShare account.
- Navigate to the SlideShare presentation that you want to download.
- Click the button labeled " Download ."
- When asked if you want to clip the slide, click " Continue to download ."
- Click " Save File " and then confirm by clicking " OK ."
Some may not download as a .ppt file, and some may not be available to download at all. However, this method works in all other cases.
2. Decide on fonts and a color scheme.
Before you get too caught up in the specifics of your storyline, figure out which fonts and color scheme you want to use. (If you're using our free templates , you can skip this part.)
When you're choosing fonts , consider two different ones to use throughout your presentation -- one for your headers and one for your body text. Your header font should be bold and eye-catching, and your body text font should be simple and easy to read. The contrast between the two will make it much easier for your SlideShare viewers to grasp your core messages.
For your color scheme, pick a scheme that will have enough contrast between colors to make colors stand out. Whether you decide to use two, three, or four different colors in your presentation is up to you -- but certain color combinations go together better than others.
Below is an example of what certain fonts and color combinations can look like. Notice how the header fonts stand out much more than the body? You can also see what different color palettes might look like: The top is monochromatic, the middle is complementary, and the bottom is analogous.
3. Outline main takeaways and crucial sub-bullets.
Next up: Creating an outline for your SlideShare's narrative. I like to treat SlideShare outlines just like I would blog posts -- you decide on the working title and main takeaways first. Then, you elaborate on those sections with a few supporting points.
For each of those components (title, section headers, and a few supporting points), create a slide. Below is an example of what those slides might look like:
Supporting Points
You'll also want to create slide placeholders for the call-to-action and conclusion slides (you don't need to elaborate on them just yet).
Keep in mind that these slides should not be complex -- just a title and maybe a few details that you want to remember down the road. No paragraphs. No supporting images. Nothing that's not built into your template already.
4. Fill out the body of your presentation.
Then, fill in the meat of the content -- all the slides between the headers. Just make sure you're not relying too much on text. SlideShare is a primarily visual platform -- people are used to breezing through presentations. So if your presentation reads like an ebook, you should edit down the text and rely more heavily on visual content.
Another thing to remember is to switch up your format from slide to slide. Try doing a checklist slide followed by, say, a quote slide -- it keeps people on their toes as they flip through your presentation.
5. Add introduction slides.
After you've created the majority of your SlideShare presentation, head back to the start. Wonder why we didn't begin here? It'll be much easier to tee up the bulk of your content if you already know what that content is about. In this step, just introduce what you just wrote about -- it'll be a breeze.
6. Wrap up the conclusion.
Then, head to the end of your SlideShare and wrap it up in a slide or two. There is nothing more jarring than going from a body slide right to a CTA slide. You only need a slide or two to conclude your presentation, but it should naturally tee up the CTA that you will have next.
7. Add a call-to-action slide.
At the verrrrrry end of your SlideShare, you want to keep your viewers engaged by providing a call-to-action. The CTA could be about downloading an ebook, attending an event, or even just visiting your website -- pretty much any CTA you'd like to include. Here are two CTA slide examples that we included in the SlideShare template:
8. Edit, edit, edit.
You're almost there! Next, you need to go through and edit your copy and design components. Try to get another coworker -- marketer or not -- to give it a once over. If you need some direction, you can use our ultimate editing checklist to make sure you're catching everything you can.
9. Add "animated slides" and clickable links.
Though it's easy to create a presentation in PowerPoint and upload it immediately to SlideShare, not all of the same features will appear in both programs. As a result, there are two things you'll need to add in: "animated slides" and clickable links.
As far as slide animation goes, SlideShare does not support PowerPoint animations. This means that all of those smooth entrances you planned for your text boxes and objects go out the window once you upload your presentation to SlideShare. But, it's easy to manually introduce new elements on a series of slides to make it seem like it's "animated."
Once you've built in your animations, you'll also need to make sure people can actually click on the CTAs in your presentation.
10. Upload your PDF to SlideShare.
After you're finished with your clickable links, your presentation will be in a PDF format. At this point, you're ready for the final step: uploading your PDF to SlideShare. When you do this, you have the option to add a description and tags, and even schedule the SlideShare to go live at a certain time. Once your SlideShare is live, you should spend some time promoting it on your blog and social media accounts, and to your email lists. (For more SlideShare promotion tips, check out this blog post .)
Just follow this process when you need to create a SlideShare presentation, and you won't have to fear that blank PowerPoint template ever again.

Whether your slideshow is saved to your hard drive or the cloud, it's easy to upload it to SlideShare. After signing in to Slideshare.net, click "Upload," then choose "Select files to upload" (if the file is on your computer) or "Upload files from the cloud" (if it's saved to Google Docs, Box, Dropbox, Gmail, or OneDrive). After uploading, you can choose to keep your presentation private or share it with the world.
Uploading from Your Hard Drive
- You need to be a LinkedIn member to use SlideShare. If you don’t have an account with LinkedIn, create one now.
- SlideShare supports the following slideshow formats: .pdf, .ppt, .pps, .pptx, .ppsx, .potx, .odp.
- The maximum slideshow file size is 300mb.
- Public: Anyone who searches the SlideShare site could potentially find and view your slideshow.
- Private – Anyone with Link: People cannot find your slideshow by searching SlideShare, but they will be able to view it if you share with them its URL.
- Private – Only Me: Your slideshow will only be accessible to you, and only when you are logged in to SlideShare.
- If you make your slideshow public and want people to find it, type something that’ll give people an idea of what your presentation is all about.
- If the slideshow will stay private, type something that will jog your memory.
- For example, if your slideshow is about teaching kindergartners to read, you might add these tags: children, literacy, reading, education.
- Notice that the green “Discoverability Score” bar grows in length as you add tags. The longer the bar, the easier your slideshow will be for people to discover. If the slideshow will be public, you’ll want the bar to fill completely with green.
- If you want to change the tags, title, description, or category, click the “Edit” button beneath the preview.
- Click “Privacy Settings” to change the privacy level of the slideshow.
- Hover your mouse over your profile photo at the top right corner of the page.
- Click “My Uploads” in the menu.
- Select your slideshow.
Uploading from the Cloud
- You need to be a LinkedIn member to use SlideShare. If you don’t already have an account with LinkedIn, create one now.
- If your slideshow is attached to a message in your Gmail account, choose “Gmail.” The message containing the attachment must be in your Inbox.
- If the slideshow is uploaded to another location (such as your personal website) and is accessible by URL, choose “Link (URL).” If you choose this option, you won’t see a button—instead, you’ll see a URL field.
- Depending on your service, you may also be prompted to give SlideShare permission to access your files.
- If you add a URL, type the URL into the blank and click “Search.” An icon for the slideshow will appear in the window.
- SlideShare supports these slideshow formats: .pdf, .ppt, .pps, .pptx, .ppsx, .potx, .odp.
- If your slideshow will be publicly searchable, write something that will give people an idea of what your presentation is all about.
- If your slideshow will remain private, just write something that will jog your memory.
- For example, if your slideshow is about teaching kindergartners to read, you can add tags like kindergarten, literacy, reading, and education.
- Notice the green “Discoverability Score” bar grows in length as you add useful tags. This means your slideshow will be easy for people to discover. If your presentation will be public, you’ll want that bar to stretch to its full length.
- Click the “Privacy Settings” button to change the privacy level of the slideshow.
- Log in to SlideShare.
- Select “My Uploads.”
- Click the name or thumbnail of the slideshow to view it.
Community Q&A

5 Ways to Put PowerPoint Presentation on Web
By Tips to share presentation online
Want to share your original and creative presentations with others all over the world? Putting PowerPoint presentation on Web sounds a good idea. Especially in this era of Internet on which everyone can view various resources using their computers.
Here are 5 different ways to put PowerPoint presentation on Web. Each way has its cons and pros.
Method 1 Upload and link PowerPoint File directly
Yes, you could just upload PowerPoint file to your web site and link to it. Visitors click and download the file to view the presentation on their computers.
Visitors should download the presentation before viewing.
Visitors should install
to view it.
The presentation file may have a big file size.
Just upload your presentation to your Website and link to it.
Share your presentation with all the animations and special effects.
Method 2 Share presentation on Slideshare.net
Slideshare.net is a famous presentation sharing website. Think of it as something like YouTube for slide shows. You can upload your presentations in PPT, PPS or POT formats to SlideShare and they're converted into shared media.
All the animations, multimedia files in the presentation will disappear.
The presentation can be viewed on any computers.
Method 3 Publish as HTML web page
PowerPoint lets you save your presentation as HTML, as a web page (Office button -> Save As -> Other Formats, and then choose Web Page in the "Save as type" pull-down menu).
Each slide is saved as a separate image, with its own page, so you have to upload an entire folder of files to your server.
It will not display properly for website visitors who aren't using IE.
Free open source software may be a stronger choice in this instance. OpenOffice Impress , the PowerPoint look-alike from http://www.OpenOffice.org , lets you create a PPT presentation from scratch, and it will also convert an existing PowerPoint presentation to HTML in a form that's compatible with a broader range of browsers.
Method 4 Flash it using Wondershare PPT2Flash
Actually, OpenOffice even offers to export your presentation as a Flash (SWF) format, but animations will disappear.
Wondershare PPT2Flash, an add-in of PowerPoint, lets you convert PowerPoint presentation to Flash with one-click.
3 steps to convert your presentation to Flash:
Download and install PPT2Flash -> Import PowerPoint presentation -> Click "Publish" to convert.
Has up to 90% reduction in file size after conversion.
Flash can be shown properly on any computers.
The conversion retains all the animations, hyperlinks, multimedia file in your presentation.
Flash is difficult to modify .
Method 5 Record it using Camtasia Studio
Download and install Comtasia (http://www.techsmith.com) on your computer and then follow the steps below.
Step 1, save your PPT file as PPS file.
Step 2, Set Camtasia studio to record the whole screen.
Step 3, Play your PowerPoint PPS file and Press “F9†to start recording the screen.
Step 4, when you reach your last blank slide, Press F10 to tell Camtasia Recorder to stop recording. You will be prompted to save the captured slideshow, so choose a directory and enter filename.
Step 5, save your capture in SWF format.
It will a little time-consuming if there are many slides in your presentation.
Best way to publish your presentation on Web
If you want to make animated and protected presentation on Web in minutes, converting PowerPoint to Flash using Wondershare PPT2Flash sounds downright elegant!
Showing a Flash movie on web is most often as easy as uploading your SWF file to your web space and using a few lines of object / embed code (http://www.w3schools.com/flash/flash_inhtml.asp) to embed the file on your page.
Camtasia can record the screen and sound when your play your PowerPoint, but should pay $299 to buy which is higher than PPT2Flash ($59.95). For Mac users, you can upload your presentation to slideshare.net . If you only want to create static presentation on web, using OpenOffice to export your presentation to HTML or Flash would be better.
I hope you can use these 5 methods to share your presentation on web easily. Of course, if you have any other good methods, please let me know. Thanks!

How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps
Copilot is available in the Home ribbon tab of Word, Excel (Preview), PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote if you are a Copilot Pro subscriber who also has a subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family.
If you have those subscriptions and are not seeing Copilot in these Microsoft 365 apps, follow these steps:
Important: Copilot in Outlook only supports work or school accounts, and Microsoft accounts using outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and msn.com email addresses at this time. Any Microsoft account using an account from a third-party email provider, such as a Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, can still use Outlook, but won’t have access to the Copilot features in Outlook.
Step 1 - Ensure you're using the correct account
Make sure you're signed into your Microsoft 365 apps with an account that has a Copilot license.
For home users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, and Copilot Pro.
For business users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Business Premium, E3, or E5 subscription, and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Step 2 - Make sure that the current file is saved in that account
If you have multiple file locations available to you - such as your business OneDrive and your personal OneDrive - Copilot will only appear if the file you have open is saved to the location associated to your Copilot subscription.
For example, if you have Copilot through your work account, but not through your personal account, and you open a file from your personal OneDrive, Copilot won't work with that file.
For new, unsaved files, or files on your local hard drive, the current primary account shown at the top of the Microsoft 365 window must be licensed for Copilot.
Important: Copilot in Excel requires AutoSave to be turned on, which means the file has to be saved to OneDrive. It currently doesn't work with unsaved files.
Step 3 - Refresh your license
Force a refresh of the license.
Note: These steps must be done by the account administrator.
In any Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account .
Close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you might have open so that the license refresh can take effect.
In any Microsoft 365 app, select the app name at the top of your screen.
Close any open documents and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you may have open so the license refresh can take effect.
Ensure your apps are updated to their latest versions via your device's app store.
Close your app completely, and then re-launch it.
Refresh the page
Select the Refresh icon in your browser to see if the Copilot features appear.
You may have third-party cookies blocked in your browser, which currently causes Copilot to be unable to validate your license. If Copilot still isn't working for you try enabling third-party cookies. For more information see: I am getting license validation errors with Copilot.
