If you’re emailing a JPEG or uploading one to a website, you’ll want to know how to resize it to fit your needs. But what if you don’t know how? Look no further. We’ve put together a total guide for resizing JPEGs—whether you use Windows, Mac, a mobile device, or a web browser like Google Chrome. We’ll cover everything from tweaking image resolution to shrinking the file size so your images load faster and take up less space on your computer. Keep reading to learn how to resize JPEGs the easy way.

Things You Should Know

  • Use a browser to upload your JPEG to a resizing website. Most sites let you adjust resolution, crop your images, and adjust compression to minimize the file size.
  • In Windows, open your JPEG using Paint, click “Select All,” and adjust the height and width by percentage or pixel length. Then select “Save As” and choose “JPEG.”
  • On Macs, open your JPEG in Preview, click “Tools” and “Adjust Size.” Adjust the height and width by percent or pixel length, click “OK,” and click “Save.”

Step 1 Visit an image...

  • resizeyourimage.com
  • resizing.app

Step 2 Upload the JPG file you want to resize.

  • If the image you want to resize is on another website, download it to your computer first. Then upload it to the resizing website.

Step 3 Use the site’s resizing controls to change the size of the image.

  • Depending on the website, you can enter the exact dimensions you want the resized image to be, or adjust the image size by a specific percentage.
  • Making your image smaller will decrease the file size. The image quality will also decrease, but this won’t be obvious unless you zoom in.
  • Making an image larger will increase the file size. It will also result in a noticeably lower-quality picture.

Step 4 Select your compression (if available).

  • Not all resizing websites allow you to adjust image quality.

Step 5 Download the resized image.

  • When downloading a resized image, save it with a different name to avoid overwriting the original. This will allow you to go back to the original image and make changes again as needed.

Step 1 Make a copy of the image file.

  • To make a copy of the image file, right-click on it and select "Copy." Right-click a blank area in the same folder and select "Paste" to create a copy of the image.

Step 2 Open the image in Paint.

  • You can also open Paint first, then click “File” and “Open” to search for the image you want to edit.

Step 3 Click the

  • By default, Paint will maintain the original aspect ratio, and entering a value in one field will automatically change the value in the other. This keeps the image from stretching or squishing during the resize. You can uncheck "Maintain aspect ratio" if you want to be able to define both the Horizontal and Vertical fields independently.
  • Making an image larger than the original will result in a blocky final image.

Step 5 Click

  • If you aren't happy with the outcome, press Ctrl + Z to undo the resize changes you made. You can also click the "Undo" button at the very top of the window next.

Step 6 Save your resized image.

  • You can also click “Save As” to create a new file and choose where to save it. Make sure to select “JPEG” as the format when using “Save As.”

Step 1 Make a copy of your image file.

  • For example, resizing your image to “50%” will decrease it to half its original size, while “200%” will double its size.

Step 5 Enter the new width or height that you want the image to be.

  • Making the image smaller will reduce the file size. It will also decrease the image quality, but this won’t be obvious unless you zoom in.
  • Making the image bigger will increase the file size. The image quality will decrease noticeably, so don’t enlarge it too much unless you’re comfortable with a blocky/blurry image.

Step 6 Check out the new file size.

  • ImageResize
  • Image Resizer

Step 2 Open the app and select the photo you want to resize.

  • If you don't mind if the image gets stretched or squished, you can tap the chainlink or padlock button to enter different values into each field.

Step 5 Save your resized image to your camera roll.

  • Photo & Picture Resizer
  • Image Shrink

Step 2 Open the downloaded app and give it access to your photos.

  • Each app will store its resized images in a different location. Generally, you'll be able to find the pictures by opening your Pictures folder and then opening the folder named after the app.

Resize image online

Why resize an image.

When displaying or sharing an image online, we often need to resize the image to fit entirely on the viewer's screen or change the file size. In particular, it can be necessary to make the image smaller when sending it as an email attachment or posting on a website. Social platforms such as Facebook and Instagram with their limitations on image size aren't the exception in that regard as well.

Now it's important to understand how to resize the photo without losing quality. Technically, resizing changes underlying pixel information. For example, when a picture's width and height get smaller, any unnecessary pixel information will be removed. To enlarge the picture, the image resizer must add new pixels based on the original pixels, which results in blurry looking photos. Thus, the essence of picture resizing without losing quality is to capture the photo with the highest resolution and downsize it.

Resize images online with ResizePixel

There is a wide variety of image editing software with all sorts of functions, such as 3D rendering, Artificial Intelligence image processing, etc. Almost all of these tools offer basic image editing functions, including image resizing. However, advanced software can be expensive and difficult to adopt due to the steep learning curve. For most users, looking for a free and easy to use app to resize photos online, ResizePixel can be a solution.

ResizePixel's online image resizer provides a simple, yet powerful service to change the image size in pixels. You can resize PNG, JPG, GIF, WEBP, TIFF and BMP images with the convenient option to maintain the original aspect ratio. To make an image file even smaller, try to resize the image in KB/MB . Change the image size online in just a few clicks without installing any additional software, all in one!

How to resize an image?

  • To resize an image online, upload it from your device to ResizePixel's website.
  • Afterward, enter a new width and height in pixels to resize the image to.
  • Apply the new size and download the final image on the download page.

Free and secure

ResizePixel is a free online photo resizer where simplicity is an essential feature. It's easy to use, mobile-friendly and secure service to resize your photos without compromising privacy. We neither collect nor distribute uploaded photos to third parties.

How to Resize an Image For Print (With or Without Photoshop)

A tutorial on resizing images for print using Photoshop, your computer's native image editing software, and/or online apps. (Also iPhone/iPad/ and Android.)

Learn | Printing Guides | By Ashley Darrow

Every photographer should know how to resize an image to print.

I’m a firm believer in print photography. Digital might be the name of the game right now, but holding prints of your photographs in hand and being able to share them with people you care about is a part of photography that we shouldn’t lose touch with.

I just got some fresh prints in the mail from digital images I took with a mirrorless camera. I’ve even printed out pics I’ve taken with my smartphone and they look fantastic.

I’m going to walk you through the basics of print images and a step-by-step guide for resizing an entire image.

How Print Size Works

Printing off your photographs is a lot like photography itself.

It’s really easy to get started with the basics of photography by picking up a point-and-click camera or just shooting on your smartphone. However, you can quickly level up your photography game by mastering a few basics.

Similarly, you could just hit print and hope for the best or you can master a few details about resize image for printing that will elevate your photo prints to a new level.

It all starts with pixels and dots. Every digital screen measures its resolution using either pixels per inch or pixels per centimeter depending on where in the world you live.

Pixels per inch, or PPI, only measures the screen resolution of your images. Printers, on the other hand, use a similar measurement called dots per inch.

The global standard for printer resolution is 300 DPI. If you have a 300 DPI image file and you properly resize image for printing, you’ll get high-quality prints in just about any regular size.

Aspect ratio is the next thing to unpack when it comes to how print size works.

An aspect ratio is the measurement of the horizontal and vertical lengths of an image. The 3×2 aspect ratio is one of the most popular for photography, but the right aspect ratio for your print will depend on your artistic goals and how you resize image for printing.

Printer power is also going to impact the size of your print images. If your printer can’t handle 300 DPI, and if you don’t resize image for printing correctly, you might be restricted to smaller print sizes.

Now that you’ve had a crash course on what influences print size, it’s time to talk resolution and image size.

What is Image Resolution?

make jpg big

There’s a lot of misconceptions about image resolution, especially when one wants to resize image for printing. There’s a lot of marketing hype around big pixel dimensions, but I’m going to demystify this subject so that you can always print high quality photos .

You’re probably used to hearing resolution talked about in terms of pixels and megapixels. A 24 megapixel image has a pixel height and pixel width of 4,000 x 6,000. High megapixel counts allow for bigger prints with higher DPI, making it easier to resize image for printing without compromising on quality.

Your camera’s sensor was built to pick up a certain amount of megapixels. The Sony a7 III has a 24.2 megapixel sensor while the new Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 48 megapixel sensor.

Pictures with a higher megapixel count will hold more information and have a larger image size. This allows you to produce prints that are larger and have a higher DPI. It’s also easier to resize images if they have more pixels to work with.

Megapixels aren’t everything when it comes to image quality. Resolution is easy to measure in terms of pixels per inch, but hard to measure in terms of subjective standards.

This is called “sharpness.” Sharpness is how refined the details of an image appear to the human eye. There’s no way to measure sharpness—it’s just something you subjectively experience when viewing a picture.

Refined sharpness and high resolution are not always ideal. A blurry background is ideal when it’s bokeh in a portrait and lo-fi photography has made a huge comeback over the last few years.

Print size and resolution go hand in hand, but there are a few important details you should know.

How Does Image Resolution Affect the Print Size?

make jpg big

Resolution, print size, and the quality of your prints are all directly linked together.

Here’s the short answer. Enlarging images is easier when you have a big file size and plenty of pixels to work with. The lower your image resolution goes, the smaller your print sizes need to be in order to retain quality.

If you’ve ever tried to right-click and download a picture from a website and then print it, you’ve probably experienced a lot of blocky, low quality prints.

This is because websites typically use images that are roughly 600 by 400 pixels. This resolution is more than enough to look great on tablets and laptops and still load fast even on a slow data connection.

That same 600×400 size is going to be way too small to get a good quality print. You’re going to need a bigger image with a higher resolution if you want to get a good quality print.

I’ve put together a quick guide and how you can increase image resolution in order to get a good print.

What is Interpolation?

Interpolation is how photo editing software , like Photoshop, increases the size of a photo beyond what’s included in the pixels that came with the image file.

Interpolation uses software to determine how many new pixels to add and what color those new pixels should be.

There are several different processes for interpolation, but they all run the risk of producing artifacts or distortions in your image. These artifacts often pop up in high detail areas like sharp edges and your risk of distortion increases the more you resize an image.

  • What is the Best iPhone Photo Printing App?

Resizing vs Resampling

Resizing and resampling might seem a little complicated on the surface, but it’s actually really straightforward.

When you resize an image, all you are doing is changing the discrete value of the width, height, or both. No pixels are added and the image is simply resized to fit new dimensions.

Resampling is slightly more complicated. When you resample an image, you allow the computer to use the interpolation I just covered to add new pixels to the image.

Resampling can create an image with a higher resolution and quality, but you do run the risk of getting some distortion especially in high detail areas.

How to Resize Photos on Android for Printing

Here’s how to resize an image for printing on Android.

Resizing images on an Android device is going to be a little bit more challenging. This is because there are so many different photo apps for Android devices and only a few of them offer resizing features.

There are several apps for Android devices that offer features to resize images for printing. Some of the top ones include:

  • Codenia Image Size
  • Photo & Picture Resizer

Can I resize images for print on iPhone or Android?

Here’s how to print smaller pictures from your phone.

The easiest way to resize images for printing on these devices is to use your native photo app to crop the image or change its aspect ratio . You could also download a third-party app like Image Resize or XGIMP which offers more nuanced resizing tools and can even let you increase the image’s size.

How much resolution do you need for high quality prints?

For best results when you resize an image for printing, you need a minimum resolution of 300 pixels per inch for high quality prints—this translates to 300 dots per inch once the file makes it to the printer. The higher PPI or DPI you can get, the better. The minimum size for a 5″ x 7″ print should be 1024 x 768 pixels with higher resolutions offering better quality.

What’s the best DPI for Printing?

When printing your photos, the best DPI is the industry standard of 300 DPI. A DPI lower than 300 is considered to be low quality and won’t produce as good of an image. A DPI of 600 or higher will produce a high quality scan, but a DPI above 1,600 will only have a noticeable advantage under close inspection by a professional.

How do I resize an image for printing without Photoshop?

Here’s how to size photos for printing. There are plenty of ways to resize photographs without using Photoshop. The easiest ways are going to be to use either Preview on a Mac or Photos on a Windows PC to resize an image. You could also use other applications like GIMP or even use websites that can resize an image.

You can also do this edit in other programs or on web apps that have a resize tool.

How do I resize an image to print 8×10?

Need to resize photo for printing? Here’s how you do it. There are a few things you need to change to resize an image for an 8×10 print. You’ll get the best image quality with a file that is 300 DPI or higher and you should also make sure it is in 4:5 aspect ratio which matches your final 8×10 print. An 8×10 print has a dimension of 1536 x 1024 pixels for best quality.

Final Words

Resizing images for print all comes down to making sure you select the right image size, aspect ratio, and you ensure that you have as close to a 300 DPI image as you can get.

Keep those three things in mind and every image you print is going to look just as fantastic in your hand as it does on screen.

JPEG Compression

When you compress a digital file, you remove bits of information in order to reduce its overall size. There are two types of compression: lossless, which reduces the file size without reducing quality, and lossy, which reduces the size and quality.

Because of the nature of JPEG files, only lossy compression is possible with these kinds of images. However, you can control how much compression the image receives to find a comfortable balance between file size and image quality.

Why would you want to compress a JPEG?

JPEGs can get pretty big. A high-resolution photograph from an expensive camera, for example, could be huge. This will cause the photo to take up a lot of space on your hard drive. Compression, in this case, could be a useful tool to reduce the size of that photo so you don’t need to delete it.

JPEGs on smartphones, especially, are good candidates for compression. Most smartphone cameras output images in JPEG format. If you have a lot of high-quality photos on your phone’s internal storage, they could be taking up a lot of room. Compressing those files could be the difference between needing to delete/backup some photos or keeping them right where they are.

How can you compress a JPEG?

Our compression tool on this page is free, easy to use, and doesn’t require you to download any software. There are no watermarks, no registration is required, and you can use the tool as much as you like.

To start, upload your JPEG/JPG files by hitting the “Upload Files” button. If you like, you can drag and drop your files onto the “Drop Your Files Here” field instead.

Once uploaded, our tool will intelligently determine the ideal compression ratio for each image. You’ll see that ratio appear on its thumbnail in the queue. If you think an image should be more or less compressed than what our server determines, that’s OK — you can control it. Just tap the photo you wish to finely tune and use the quality slider to adjust to your preference. When you are satisfied, hit the “APPLY” button. Repeat these steps with all your uploaded images until you are sure they are good to go.

Once ready, hit the “DOWNLOAD ALL” button. You’ll get a ZIP archive filled with all your compressed JPEGs. If you don’t want a ZIP file, that’s OK, because you can download each image individually by hitting the “DOWNLOAD” button under its respective thumbnail.

If you have more images you’d like to compress, hit the “CLEAR QUEUE” button to start the process over again.

Is it safe to compress JPEG files?

Yes, it is safe to upload and compress JPEG files using our online tool. There is no need to be worried about the safety of your original files because our server has no ability to delete them from your system. Any files you upload here will still remain on your computer or mobile device.

Additionally, our server is secure. It is fully automated so no one can see what you upload. Likewise, your uploaded information will be purged after 60 minutes, so your images remain private.

I tried Microsoft Copilot's new AI image-generating feature, and it solves a real problem

sabrina-ortiz

ZDNET's key takeaways

  • Microsoft Copilot just got a new editing feature for its AI image generator. You can try it out today in Copilot for free.
  • Making simple edits to your generated image can be done without leaving Copilot.
  • If you wish to do extensive edits to the image you generate, you'll still have to rely on another app.

The most popular AI chatbots have recently unveiled updates  -- and Copilot wasn't going to fall behind. On Thursday, Microsoft announced a new image-generating feature in Copilot and, after trying it myself, I think it solves a big problem with AI image generators .

Also:  The best AI chatbots

AI image generators are popular because it's cool to see any prompt you can imagine come to life. However, typically, these generators don't do much besides creating the image.

Copilot's new features help bridge that gap by implementing editing options inline that make it easy to transform the image and generate the exact result you want.

As a sample project, I asked Copilot to help me make a birthday card for my Mom, whose birthday is coming up. Since she loves her furbaby, my initial prompt was, "Can you draw me a boy Yorkie wearing a birthday hat." Immediately, I had four adorable photos to pick from:

 width=

For the sake of testing out the features and the aim of creating a greeting card, I chose one. Then, as part of the new upgrade, I had the option to hover over the image and pick an element that I would like to edit:

 width=

Once you select the part you want to tweak, you can choose between color pop, which makes everything else in the photo black or white, or the blur background option, eliminating the need to use an additional tool, such as Photoshop, to perform those tasks.

Without leaving Copilot, you also have the option to select a different style, such as Pixel art, Watercolor, and more. In my experience, whenever I've tried to select the option, it doesn't work. I am met with an error message saying: "Something is wrong on our end. Please try again later."

However, a user shared a video clip of the feature on X, and it not only worked for them, but also looked very promising, as seen below. Despite the option not working for me, I found that the other two image-editing features, blur background and color pop, were helpful enough to make the update worthwhile. Now, if I want to change image style, I can just enter a different prompt:

2. Change image style You can change the style of your image with a single click: - Click on the image you prefer - Select a new style in the bottom bar Designer takes care of modifying your image with the style you've selected! pic.twitter.com/XQOdvBSxot — Paul Couvert (@itsPaulAi) February 7, 2024

Then, when you are happy with the photo, you can incorporate it into the project you were visualizing by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your image in Copilot and selecting "Edit in Designer", which will then import your image into a blank project in Microsoft's graphic design platform, where you can add filters, text, and much more.

Also:  I just tried Google's ImageFX AI image generator, and I'm shocked at how good it is

I was able to add a few more details to the image to finalize the greeting card in Designer, and the final result can be seen below:

ZDNET's advice

Copilot is a solid AI chatbot option because it's free, has access to the internet, includes sources, and even has an AI image generator, making it a one-stop shop for all your needs. Adding the inline-editing options only further cements Copilot's position as an all-encompassing AI chatbot, as the feature eliminates the need to rely on another application for basic edits to your AI-generated images.

As a result, I recommend that you try the tool at least once because it provides a pretty seamless experience. Most importantly, it's free, so you have nothing to lose. If you aren't convinced, then maybe the fact that Copilot is ZDNET's best AI image generator overall for 2024  will encourage you to give it a try.

Top takeaways from Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis' forceful testimony in contentious hearing on whether she should be removed from Trump Georgia 2020 election case

By Melissa Quinn, Katrina Kaufman, Jared Eggleston, Daniel Klaidman

Updated on: February 16, 2024 / 9:44 AM EST / CBS News

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis defied the wishes of the lawyers in her office and demanded to testify at an evidentiary hearing Thursday involving a motion to disqualify her from prosecuting the  Georgia 2020 election interference case  against former President Donald Trump, according to a source close to Willis.

The D.A.'s lawyers tried to quash the subpoena for her to testify, but Willis was intent on defending her reputation and making it clear that the allegations against her are bogus. Before she took the stand, she asked for copies of the three filings from the motion submitted by Ashleigh Merchant, the attorney for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman. During the hearing, she held up each of the copies and called the assertions contained within them "lies."

During two hours of testimony, Willis offered a blistering rebuke against accusations she had an improper romantic relationship with Nathan Wade, a special prosecutor in her office.

She fielded questions from defense lawyers representing Trump and several of his co-defendants in the sprawling racketeering case related to an alleged scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Wade and Willis' relationship, which was confirmed earlier this month in a court filing by the D.A.'s office, was the subject of the evidentiary hearing.

It was initially unclear whether Willis would appear when the proceedings began Thursday morning. But in the afternoon, she entered the courtroom to take the stand, declaring, "I'm ready to go." Willis said she "ran to the courtroom" when Wade finished testifying and added that it only made sense that she would be the next witness.

The testimony before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee was contentious from the outset, as Willis forcefully defended herself and accused Merchant of being "dishonest" in the claims she made in filings seeking to disqualify Willis.

"You've been intrusive into people's personal lives," Willis said. "You're confused. You think I'm on trial. These people are on trial for trying to steal an election in 2020. I'm not on trial, no matter how hard you try to put me on trial. I object to you getting any personal records of mine."

Willis called some of the implications in Merchant's court filings about the origins of her relationship with Wade "highly offensive" and said her interests were "contrary to democracy."

The hearing arose from a bid by Roman, a former Republican National Committee staffer, to disqualify Willis and her office and dismiss the indictment on the grounds it is invalid and unconstitutional. Willis was expected return for further questioning Friday, but when court resumed in the morning prosecutors declined to call her back to the stand .

The timing of their relationship and who knew about it

Willis took the stand after Wade answered questions under oath for several hours about his marriage and how his association with Willis developed. He described their first meeting at a judicial conference in 2019 and testified about the "personal relationship" that he said began in early 2022, after Willis appointed him to be a special prosecutor in November 2021. Wade said the relationship ended around June, while Willis said they had a "tough conversation" in August, but also said she thought it was likely he had said it was over earlier.

"Miss Willis, as am I, we're private people. Our relationship wasn't a secret; it was just private," Wade said, adding that he would not have discussed it publicly.

Willis, too, said she did not share her relationship with Wade with other prosecutors working on the racketeering case involving Trump and did not consider it to be romantic until early 2022.

"That I kept something private that's my private life is not any mystery to anyone," she said. "It's like a woman doesn't have the right to keep her private life private."

Willis provided more details about when and why the relationship ended, insinuating there had been some tension between her and Wade about how he viewed a woman's role in a relationship.

"It's interesting that we're here about this money," she said. "Mr. Wade is used to women that, as he told me one time, the only thing a woman can do for him is make him a sandwich. We would have brutal arguments about the fact that I am your equal. I don't need anything from a man."

Willis said that to her, a man is a "companion," and "not a plan."

She denied that the Fulton County grand jury's indictment of Trump and his co-defendants in August played a role in their break-up and said that in Wade's view, the relationship had ended several months earlier.

The trips they took

Wade acknowledged the couple took two trips together in 2023, one to Belize in March and another to Napa, California, and said they visited Tennessee and Alabama on day trips in 2022. Willis and Wade also traveled to Aruba after they took a cruise with his mother in 2022, he said.

He said he used his business credit card to book the travel to Belize, which was a birthday gift to him, and Aruba. But Willis reimbursed him for the entire Belize trip and covered the cost of excursions in Napa, Wade testified.

"If you've ever spent any time with Miss Willis, you understand that she's a very independent, proud woman, so she's going to insist that she carries her own weight," Wade told Merchant. "It actually was a point of contention between the two of us. She is going to pay her own way."

Willis confirmed while on the stand that she took a cruise with Wade and his mother in October 2022 and then gifted him the Belize trip for his 50th birthday. The couple also took a cruise together to the Bahamas on New Year's Eve in 2022, Willis disclosed, and she recalled taking day trips to visit her sister in South Carolina and to Charlotte.

"I don't consider him having taken me anyplace," she said, adding that she reimbursed Wade based on the amount he relayed to her. She testified that she paid him in cash on three or four occasions and that she keeps cash in her home.

Asked whether there's any written record or ledger of the money she gave Wade, Willis said no.

Wade said traveling with Willis can be challenging, given the attention she receives and safety concerns, so she limits her transactions. He denied there had been any effort to conceal their travels, given that the purchases are listed on his credit card statements.

How the trips were paid for

Wade was asked repeatedly about the cash reimbursements from Willis, including what he did with the money he received from her, whether he deposited the money in a bank account or kept it around his home, whether he accompanied Willis to the ATM when she withdrew the cash to cover her portion of the trips, and if he asked Willis for records that would show she would pay him back for the travel. He said he did not deposit the funds, and Wade said he did not question where Willis got the cash to reimburse him.

Asked about the source of the money, Willis replied that it was the result of the "work, sweat and tears of me." She said she keeps cash on hand because of advice from her father to have at least six months' worth at a time.

"I always have cash at the house," she said.

During the questioning from Craig Gillen, a lawyer for David Shafer, former Georgia GOP chair and another one of Trump's co-defendants, Wade sought to dispel accusations that he used money he received for his work on the Fulton County case to pay for his trips with Willis.

"To say that I'm paying a credit card statement with funds coming from Fulton County or from the state of Georgia would not be an accurate statement because the funds could have very well come from my private practice," Wade told Gillen.

Later, he told the court that his income decreased "significantly" as a result of his work for the district attorney's office despite spending nearly all of his time in 2022 on the case against Trump involving the integrity of the 2020 election.

Financial affidavits discussed during Wade's testimony indicated that his monthly income from 2022 to 2023 decreased from $14,000 to $9,000, and Wade said he often worked above the cap that set the maximum hours he could bill for.

"There's so many hours here that I worked that I couldn't get paid for," he said. "This is not the type of job that you can walk away from because you're not getting paid for it. There's some professional rules of responsibility to an attorney who's engaged in a case. You have to see it through."

Willis' former friend refutes the timeline of the relationship

The timeline surrounding Wade and Willis' relationship emerged as a crucial issue, as a former longtime friend of Willis, who also worked with her in the District Attorney's Office, contested assertions the couple made in court filings about when their romantic relationship began.

Robin Bryant-Yeartie testified that Willis' romantic relationship with Wade started shortly after they met at the judicial conference — in October or November of 2019 — a revelation that came during separate questioning from Merchant and Steven Sadow, who is representing Trump in the case, about what she observed and knew about Willis' relationship with Wade.

Appearing via Zoom, Yeartie testified that Willis also told her she was engaged in a romantic relationship with Wade in 2020 and 2021, and said she witnessed "hugging, kissing," and "just affection" between the two before November 2021, when Wade was hired by Willis.

Willis lived for a brief time in Yeartie's condo in Hapeville, a city south of Atlanta, moving there in early 2021 due to safety concerns, she said. The district attorney said Wade visited her at the condo on several occasions, typically to pick up food, but never stayed the night.

"That was a very lonely period in my life," Willis said of the time she lived in Yeartie's unit.

Wade, too, acknowledged visiting Willis at the condo before he was hired in November 2021. Asked by Sadow about phone records reflecting that Wade was making phone calls from the area of the condo before his hiring, he said there are a number of nearby places he could have been such as the airport, at restaurants, and visiting the Porsche Experience Center.

Yeartie's testimony appeared to contradict claims from Wade made in an affidavit , in which he claimed his relationship with Willis began in 2022, after he was hired as a special prosecutor to assist in the case against Trump and his co-defendants .

Anna Cross, a lawyer in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office, sought to raise doubts about Yeartie's credibility, asking her several questions about her performance while working for the district attorney and whether she was ever disciplined for poor performance.

Yeartie said she was written up once, and referenced a "situation" in which she was informed that she was going to be terminated if she did not resign. Yeartie said she has not spoken with Willis since her departure from the district attorney's office in 2022.

Cross revealed that she intends to call several witnesses who will challenge Yeartie's credibility when proceedings resume.

Wade reveals he had cancer in 2020

But during cross-examination by Cross, Wade revealed that he was battling cancer in 2020 and part of 2021. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, his illness kept him from "leaving environments that aren't sterile," Wade said.

"I had health on my mind," he testified.

Willis referenced Wade's diagnosis to push back on questions about whether the two were in contact in 2020 and said that though they had "some contact" that year, any accusations that they were engaged in a romantic relationship then are "preposterous."

"Mr. Wade had a form of cancer that makes your allegations somewhat ridiculous," she told Sadow. "I'm not going to emasculate a Black man … so I don't think we should discuss it further."

Willis' former law partner asserts attorney-client privilege

McAfee presided over the evidentiary hearing to consider Roman's motion to disqualify Willis and her office from prosecuting the 2020 election interference case in Georgia. Roman alleged that Willis had an improper relationship with Wade , paid him more than $650,000 for his work for the D.A.'s office and then benefited financially from the relationship when Wade allegedly took her on cruises and trips.

A filing by the Fulton County D.A.'s office earlier this month confirmed there had been a romantic relationship between Willis and Wade but stated that it began long after Willis hired him. In the affidavit, Wade denied he had any financial interest in the outcome of the Georgia election interference case.

Terrence Bradley, Wade's former law partner, was called to testify by Roman's attorney, Merchant. But Bradley's attorney objected when Merchant began asking him about the relationship, citing attorney-client privilege because Bradley had for a time represented Wade in his divorce case.

"I was advised by the bar," Bradley said. "I cannot reveal anything that I saw or learned." McAfee commented, "That's a broader representation of attorney-client privilege than I've ever heard."

McAfee said earlier this week that the evidentiary hearing had to proceed because it's "possible that the facts alleged … could result in disqualification" and also "to establish the record on those core allegations."

He listed these issues for the hearing: Whether a relationship existed, whether it was romantic, when it formed, whether it continues and any personal benefit conveyed as a result of the relationship. McAfee has also said that some of the arguments made by Roman's attorney are not relevant, like Wade's alleged lack of experience in handling racketeering cases like the Trump case.

"As long as a lawyer has a heartbeat and a bar card," that lawyer's appointment is within the D.A.'s discretion, McAfee said Monday. McAfee has so far not found violations of Fulton County case law code, which would be relevant to a motion to disqualify a prosecutor for a pending criminal case.

Hartland vs. Howell? Brighton vs. TBD? Hockey rivalries could play out on big stages

make jpg big

This has the makings of a special postseason for Livingston County high school hockey fans.

That’s saying a lot, because local teams are accustomed to making long playoff runs and winning state championships.

But how fun do these potential matchups sound?

With no upsets required, we could see Hartland vs. Howell in the state Division 1 quarterfinals, with the winner facing Brighton in the semifinals at USA Hockey Arena.

Anyone who was in Plymouth for the Brighton-Hartland triple-overtime classic in the state semifinals last season knew they were witnessing a special moment they might never see again.

Except we could see another Livingston County rivalry game in the final four on March 8.

What will it take to make the magic happen?

Here are my thoughts on the prospects for the county’s three hockey teams with regionals beginning this week:

The toughest road

Not many contenders have a more difficult road to the state championship game than Hartland.

Even the regional, which has been the Eagles’ personal playground, is not a given. Second-ranked Hartland is on a collision course with fourth-ranked Clarkston at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the former IMA Sports Arena in Flint.

Clarkston was ranked fourth last year when the Wolves were blown out 6-1 in the regional final by Hartland , but that game was much more competitive than the score indicates. Don’t expect another runaway when they meet this time.

Should Hartland win its 13th straight regional title, No. 5 Howell is the likely quarterfinal opponent. If the Eagles reach the semifinals, there’s a possible rematch with No. 2 Brighton.

The easiest road

Howell may never have a more gift-wrapped opportunity to win a regional championship.

While Brighton and Hartland will face state-ranked teams in their regionals, Howell will play in a tournament at Munn Ice Arena that lacks another top-10 team.

Unlike past seasons, there isn’t a Brighton, Clarkston, Hartland or Livonia Stevenson standing between the Highlanders and their second regional title in 14 seasons.

If there’s a potential upset, it would come from the Capital City Capitals, who have played a handful of challenging nonleague games to prepare for the playoffs. They lost 5-2 to Brighton on Jan. 30 in a game the Bulldogs led 5-0 after two periods.

A team with 10 seniors needs to guard against overconfidence and handle its business.

Peaking at the right time

If any teams know how to reach a crescendo come playoff time, it’s Brighton and Hartland.

The Bulldogs and Eagles have overcome some early stumbles to get red hot at the end of the regular season.

Hartland is 13-1 in its last 14 games, the only loss being a 3-0 decision at Brighton. The Eagles have beaten a who’s who of Michigan high school hockey during a run that extends back to before Christmas.

Brighton is 9-0-1 in its last 10 games, allowing only 10 goals. The Bulldogs have beaten Hartland, Marquette and Birmingham Brother Rice during that stretch, which coincides with the return of defenseman Ryan Watkins and forward Charlie Burchfield, key cogs in what Brighton does defensively.

Brighton’s path to USA Hockey Arena could include a regional final matchup against No. 8 Northville and a quarterfinal against No. 6 Stevenson or No. 9 Salem. If they keep winning, the Bulldogs won’t have to leave Kensington Valley Ice Arena until the state semifinals.

2024 Super Bowl expert picks: Super Bowl 58 and 58 bets to make, props for Chiefs-49ers players, Taylor Swift

Here are 58 bets to consider for super bowl sunday.

Super Bowl LVIII - Previews

The  Super Bowl  -- one of the NFL's most wagered-on events that we have on the sporting calendar -- is finally here. Super Bowl LVIII won't be any different, especially as it takes place this year in the betting capital of the world: Las Vegas.

Aside from the standard game-centric bets, sportsbooks often feature bets that have little (or nothing) to do with the actual contest, allowing everyone to get in on the action. If you are looking to place a wager or two for this game between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs , allow us to help you out.

Below are 58 total bets for Super Bowl LVIII that range from some picks from our CBS Sports staff, player props, novelty bets and more.

(Super Bowl LVIII will be broadcast on CBS and Nickelodeon and you can stream it on  Paramount+ ; here's  how to watch )

CBS Sports staff props

Jared Dubin: 49ers to win first half, Chiefs to win the game (+525, Caesars) . "The Chiefs haven't led at halftime of any of their three Super Bowl appearances in this era (they were tied with the Niners and trailing both the Bucs and Eagles ), so if you think the Chiefs will win, this is better value than just taking the money line."

Eric Kernish: Team to score the longest touchdown: 49ers (-142, FanDuel). "The San Francisco 49ers are all about racking up yards after the catch, so it only makes sense they're the ones to pick for this prop. Expect this to occur in the first half ... before Kyle Shanahan's team likely disappears down the final stretch."

Jordan Dajani: The Field Goal play (via Caesars):  For first scoring play, a KC field goal and an SF field goal are both listed at +360. If you play, say, $20 on each option and one hits, you make $52 total.

Josh Edwards: Christian McCaffrey first touchdown scorer (+360, DraftKings).  San Francisco has scored a touchdown on more than half of their first drives this season (10 of 19) while Kansas City has scored a touchdown on just 25% of their opening drives. Christian McCaffrey has scored a touchdown in 13 of 18 49ers games this season.

Shanna McCarriston: Will the last play of the game be a QB kneel? Yes (+200, FanDuel).  The Super Bowl is a battle between the two best teams in the league so in theory it should be a close game. Often the game comes down to the wire, with last attempts to get down the field or a field goal to win it all. It is interesting to ponder whether the game will end in a victory formation, or if it will be a game that comes down to the final seconds. I think we're getting some value on a kneel.

Tyler Sullivan: Travis Kelce to win Super Bowl MVP (+1200, DraftKings) . I'm a sucker for a good storyline. If Kelce can repeat what he's done in the last two rounds accompanied by a Chiefs win, he'll be hoisting a Lombardi Trophy as the MVP while Taylor Swift and her latest Grammy will be watching along. Sort of feels how this season should end.

John Breech: Total number of players to throw a pass: OVER 2.5 (+160 on FanDuel).  This one is pretty simple; if you think a player besides the two quarterbacks will throw a pass, then you bet this prop. The pass doesn't even have to be complete, it just has to be thrown. I think we'll see at least one trick play and this prop will hit. And even if we don't see a trick play, this prop could also hit if one of the quarterbacks takes a big hit and has to leave the game for a play or two, leaving the backup QB to throw a pass.

Super Bowl novelty bets

  • Coin toss: Tails (+100, DraftKings): The coin toss has come up Tails in 30 of the 57 Super Bowls. They say Tails never fails.
  • Will there be a two-point conversion attempted? YES (+128, FanDuel).
  • Team score last to also win the game: Yes (-245, FanDuel). Not a profitable number, but this prop has hit in 10 straight Super Bowls and 17 of the past 18.
  • Jersey number of first touchdown scorer: Over 22.5 (-115, DraftKings). This includes players like Christian McCaffrey, Travis Kelce, and George Kittle .
  • Shortest touchdown scored: Under 1.5 yards (-170, FanDuel). There has been a one-yard touchdown in four straight Super Bowls and seven of the last eight.

Who wins Chiefs vs. 49ers in Super Bowl 2024, and which critical X-factor makes one side of the spread a must-back?  Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Chiefs vs. 49ers spread hits hard , all from the expert who is an amazing 22-5 on picks involving San Francisco, and find out.

Player props

  • Nick Bosa to have 2+ sacks (+350, DraftKings) : This was actually one of my top five early bold predictions for the Super Bowl. Bosa has recorded 10 sacks in 11 playoff games, and got to Patrick Mahomes once in their last Super Bowl meeting. This year, he faces off against Jawaan Taylor , who led the league with 20 accepted penalties in 2023. Against the Lions in the NFC Championship game, Bosa had two sacks.
  • Travis Kelce 20+ first-quarter receiving yards (-110, DraftKings): Kelce recorded 42 receiving yards and a touchdown in the first quarter vs. the Ravens . He had just 15 yards on one catch vs. Buffalo, but that's because the defense couldn't get off the field. I think this is a solid bet.
  • Brock Purdy total passing completions: Under 20.5 (-105, Caesars).  The Under has hit in five of his last seven games, including the NFC Championship.
  • Brock Purdy total passing attempts: Under 31.5 (-140, Caesars).  The Under has hit in 13 of his last 15 games, including the NFC Championship.
  • Brock Purdy total passing yards: Over 247.5 (-115, Caesars). The Over has hit in both playoff games this season.
  • Brock Purdy total passing touchdowns: Under 1.5 (-105, Caesars). The Under has hit in four straight playoff games.
  • Patrick Mahomes total completions: Under 25.5 (-125, Caesars). The Under has hit in four of his last six playoff games.
  • Patrick Mahomes total passing attempts: Over 36.5 (-110, Caesars). The Over has hit in eight of his last 11 playoff games.
  • Patrick Mahomes total passing yards: Under 260.5 (-115, Caesars). The Under has hit in two of the three Chiefs playoff games this postseason. 49ers have allowed 260 passing yards or less in five straight playoff games.
  • Patrick Mahomes total passing touchdowns: Over 1.5 (-160, Caesars). Over has hit in seven of the last nine playoff games.
  • Patrick Mahomes total rushing yards: Over 26.5 (-110, Caesars) . Over has hit in all three of Mahomes' Super Bowl appearances.
  • Patrick Mahomes total interceptions: Over 0.5 (-110, Caesars). Mahomes has thrown four interceptions in three Super Bowl appearances, including two vs. 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. San Francisco has forced an interception in six of their seven Super Bowl appearances.
  • Christian McCaffrey total rushing attempts: Under 18.5 (+100, DraftKings) . The Under has hit in five of McCaffrey's six playoff games.
  • Christian McCaffrey total rushing yards: Under 90.5 (-115, DraftKings) . The Under has hit in three of McCaffrey's last four playoff games. The Chiefs also haven't allowed a 90-yard rusher in 15 straight playoff games.
  • Christian McCaffrey to score two total touchdowns: Yes (+245, DraftKings) . McCaffrey has scored multiple touchdowns in both playoff games this season.
  • Christian McCaffrey total receptions: Over 4.5 (-135, Caesars) . McCaffrey has averaged 5.3 receptions per game in the last four playoff games.
  • Isiah Pacheco total rushing attempts: Over 15.5 (-130, DraftKings) . Pacheco has logged 24 rushing attempts in two of the last three playoff games.
  • Isiah Pacheco total rushing yards: Over 65.5 (-125, DraftKings). Pacheco has gone over this number in all but one of his six career playoff games.
  • Isiah Pacheco total receiving yards: Under 16.5 (-114, DraftKings). The Under has hit in four straight playoff games and five of Pacheco's six career playoff games.
  • Isiah Pacheco anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (-120, DraftKings) . Has scored a touchdown in seven straight games.
  • Deebo Samuel total receptions: Under 4.5 (-110, Caesars) . The Under has hit in eight of his 11 playoff games.
  • Brandon Aiyuk total receptions: Under 4.5 (-145, Caesars) . The Under has hit in his last seven straight playoff games.
  • Brandon Aiyuk total receiving yards. Under 62.5 (-115, Caesars). Aiyuk has averaged 43 receiving yards in eight career playoff games.
  • Rashee Rice total receptions: Over 6.5 (-105, Caesars). The Over has hit in two of the three playoff games this season.
  • Rashee Rice total receiving yards: Under 66.5 (+100, Caesars). The Under has hit in two of the three playoff games this season.
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling total receptions: Over 1.5 (-120, Caesars). The Over has hit in each of the last two playoff games.
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling total receiving yards: Over 19.5 (-130, Caesars). The Over has hit in each of the last two playoff games.
  • George Kittle total receptions: Under 3.5 (+115, Caesars) . Kittle has gone Under this number in seven of his 11 career playoff games.
  • Travis Kelce total receptions: Over 6.5 (-140, Caesars). The Over has hit in six of Kelce's last eight playoff games.
  • Travis Kelce anytime touchdown scorer: Yes (+100, FanDuel). Kelce has scored a touchdown in eight of his last nine playoff games.
  • Under 47.5 (-105, FanDuel): The Under is 28-28 all-time, but has hit in four of the last five Super Bowls.
  • Kansas City Chiefs total points: Over 23.5 (-115, Caesars).
  • San Francisco 49ers total points: Under 24.5 (-125, Caesars). The Chiefs have allowed just 16.8 points per game this season. Only one team ( Packers , Week 13) scored 25 or more points against this defense all year.

Taylor Swift-themed props

  • Shake it off: 49ers to score first, Chiefs to win (+350, DraftKings): This follows the game script of last year, where the 49ers went up 3-0 in the first quarter, but blew a fourth-quarter lead as the Chiefs won, 31-20.
  • Today was a FairyTale: Kelce to score a TD and Chiefs to win (+240, DraftKings): Kelce has scored a touchdown in eight of the last nine playoff games. If you have the Chiefs winning, this is a good bet.
  • Anti-Hero: Brock Purdy 250+ passing yards and 2+ passing touchdowns (+200, DraftKings). Purdy has hit this prop in six of his 16 regular season starts this season, and zero in his two playoff appearances this postseason.
  • Mine: Travis Kelce to record 87+ receiving yards (Yes +190, DraftKings). Kelce has hit this prop in just four regular season games and just one of Kansas City's three playoff games.
  • Look What You Made Me Do: Chiefs trail in the fourth quarter and win the game (Yes +500, DraftKings). When these teams met in Super Bowl LIV, the 49ers led by 10 points in the fourth quarter and Kanas City won the game. Could history repeat itself?
  • Will the final score be a Scorigami? YES +2500 (FanDuel) . In case you're unaware, a Scorigami is a final score that has never happened before in an NFL game. It's very much a long shot.
  • Position of first touchdown scorer: Quarterback +1000 (FanDuel).  A QB has scored the first touchdown in two of the Chiefs three Super Bowl appearances.
  • Super Bowl MVP: Any Defensive Player +1100 (FanDuel). A defensive player has won Super Bowl MVP in 10 of the 57 prior Super Bowls. The last defensive play to win it was Von Miller (Super Bowl 50).
  • Super Bowl MVP to be on the losing team: Yes +3900 (FanDuel). This is not a worthwhile bet, but it has happened once before. Chuck Howley (Super Bowl V) is the only player to win Super Bowl MVP while being on the losing side of the game.
  • Exact score prediction: KC 24 SF 20 (+15000, BetMGM).
  • Will there be overtime? Yes (+900, Caesars) . There has been just one overtime game in Super Bowl history (Super Bowl LI).
  • Isiah Pacheco alternate rushing yards: 100+ yards (+425, DraftKings). The 49ers are allowing the most playoff rushing yards per game (159.0) entering a Super Bowl since the 1966 Green Bay Packers.
  • Deebo Samuel to score one rushing and one receiving touchdown: Yes (+3000, FanDuel). Samuel hit this prop twice in the regular season.
