00:01 [Music]
00:11 hello I'm chase Carrington and welcome
00:14 to another one of my tutorials on my
00:16 youtube channel this is another pages
00:19 tutorial because my most popular
00:20 tutorial was about pages and business
00:23 cards and pages so I decided to kind of
00:25 do the same thing but with the resumes
00:27 now I'm not going to go into really the
00:28 content of resumes or how you should
00:30 write it to be where I catch everything
00:32 like that I'm gonna focus on mainly the
00:34 formatting you just you know how to make
00:36 the resume use the tools of pages and
00:38 make an awesome looking resume and it's
00:41 actually really easy with pages they
00:43 give you a lot of the very detailed
00:46 templates that should work really well
00:48 for your purpose well right now I of
00:51 course press a new document and in under
00:56 the new documents I went to the resumes
00:58 and I've listed resumes here these are
01:01 all very different in design and purpose
01:04 as well and I'm just gonna run you
01:05 through each of these different designs
01:07 and just get you thinking about like
01:10 what business each design would be
01:12 better for so I can open a new document
01:14 going to this first one is just kind of
01:18 a simple original resume Jessie well
01:22 I'll just keep things simple maybe you
01:25 would professional if you want just kind
01:27 of keep things very simple and if it
01:29 doesn't really if your take it to
01:30 employer that just doesn't really care
01:32 much about formatting you just want to
01:35 just make keep it simple or maybe just
01:37 have a printer let's say limited ink you
01:39 just want Sally just simple you could
01:41 get the original the more classic design
01:44 you just want to look like just a
01:47 classic a classic resume the next one is
01:51 kind of more modern updated resume got
01:54 this little logo that that they reused
01:57 from the business cards in the template
02:00 it's just it's just updated file just
02:03 makes it look a little more striking and
02:05 modern other than that it's really not
02:07 nothing major
02:08 Duff they really stand out it's still
02:10 fairly simple and fairly low-key just a
02:14 changed design to make it a little more
02:16 modern then this one is a little more
02:19 standout in my opinion this one kind of
02:21 makes it kind
02:22 of very specific you could see the
02:25 headlines are in a different color so
02:27 you could just space to your potential
02:30 employer just can easily read it and it
02:33 would be good for say a more
02:34 professional job something where you
02:37 want to make a big impression so even
02:39 just the addition of some colors to make
02:41 stuff stand out can be important this
02:45 one is really formal this woods very
02:48 formal I think it looks actually really
02:50 nice and it's just the format is
02:52 designed to be very formal for formal
02:55 company how its laid out all the fonts
02:58 the colors it's all designed to be
03:00 rather formal in this last word is what
03:04 I'd call the startup wad just very bold
03:06 add bold it's got this bold title on top
03:10 so your name makes its first impression
03:12 other than that you know typical
03:14 formatting it's interesting how the
03:16 titles are in the margin over here
03:19 that's a bit of a change that I didn't
03:21 see in a lot of the other formats but
03:23 all the same still the same basic here
03:27 and then I saw at least you have this
03:30 this one is just a little more colorful
03:32 maybe again startup or something that's
03:35 just a little more of a casual interview
03:42 process or more casual work environment
03:44 environment so now let's just go back to
03:48 kind of I should I'm gonna stick with
03:50 this one and let's talk about what we
03:53 have here what Apple gives us so the
03:57 name of course which you can they're
04:01 just give me a tutorial right there I
04:03 could link different text boxes actually
04:09 but uh but basically you have the name
04:13 this one you got a fun little intros
04:15 just hello then he got the profile now
04:19 how Apple does their templates basically
04:22 these you can't really edit anything
04:23 basically you just have to replace it if
04:25 you select it so see the red means the
04:28 moment I start typing it's gonna go away
04:29 I'm just gonna do that because I don't
04:32 really have much right there but that's
04:34 what the profile would go
04:36 and they give you a good layout with all
04:39 the different titles and everything if
04:41 you want to change stuff just add what
04:45 you need to add change it it just kind
04:48 of follow their guidelines that's how
04:51 they're all designed all the formats all
04:53 the templates and and then basically if
04:58 you say have more jobs than what they
05:01 give you here like more experience that
05:02 you want to add you can still copy even
05:05 even this you still copy it command C
05:09 and then you just go to the bottom here
05:12 enter paste it and then there you go you
05:16 can add as many jobs as you need
05:19 as long as you just copy and paste if
05:23 you don't want to bother with
05:25 reformatting or doing the thing but
05:28 here's another thing that you can do is
05:31 they have an interesting thing over here
05:33 how I could choose the different text
05:35 the different headings so it's a preset
05:37 so if you do just want to keep on typing
05:39 and chase things up you could use the
05:41 different these different presets say
05:43 the caption is used for the date let's
05:47 see I think they use the subheading for
05:50 the for the title of the job and it
05:55 varies sometimes but most the times
05:57 it'll stick to that preset then you have
06:03 the option of all these basically this
06:08 they give you all you need and they give
06:10 you you can put your website down you
06:13 can put everything down that you need
06:15 and you still make it look really nice
06:17 cuz it's pages it's very very easy to
06:20 use so my job here is basically done I'm
06:25 not gonna really type out all the stuff
06:26 because again you'll to find your
06:28 YouTube video if you want to find some
06:30 more information about what to put in a
06:34 to put in a resume I'm not a big expert
06:38 on that but I am here to just tell you
06:40 the pages has amazing tools to make
06:43 making and formatting a resume very very
06:46 easy so you can focus on that content
06:49 that job so I'm chase curated and thank
06:52 you for watching my tutorial check out
06:54 some my other pages tutorials and
06:56 hopefully you'll stick around to to hear
06:59 some my other tutorials in the future

07:03 you have any questions thank you for

How to Make an App Open in Full Screen Mode Automatically on Mac

The full-screen mode on many native Mac applications is great. It takes full advantage of most Mac Retina displays, and it gives you the maximum working space. It also diminishes distractions by hiding the Dock and the status bar. If this is a look you like, you can follow the steps below to make sure some applications always open in full-screen mode on your Mac.
Enabling Resume
Macs actually have a featured called “Resume” that allows apps to save their state on close. When reopened, the application will launch itself in the same state. This means reopening any documents you had open and placing windows in the same location as they were on close. This will also capture window settings like full-screen status.

Make sure the box next to “Close windows when quitting an app” is unchecked. This will allow Resume to function, permitting the app to reload its previous status.
Setting Up Apps
Once that’s set, you can set up the apps that you’d like to have open in full-screen mode. For example, if you want to have Safari in full screen, you would do the following.
1. Open Safari.
2. Set Safari’s window to full screen by clicking the green button in the upper-left of the window.

3. Quit Safari.
When you reopen Safari, it should still be in full-screen mode. If you want other applications to also open in full-screen mode, you’ll need to open those applications separately and follow the same steps there.
You’ll also want to adjust how to quit applications. If you close windows before quitting an application, then those windows will not be saved. Some users, especially those that migrated from Windows, may have developed the habit of closing application windows before quitting the application. Make sure you stop doing this. If you close application windows before quitting, Resume will not function properly, and your application may not open in full-screen mode.
Using Login Services
You can also launch applications at login so that they’ll be full screen and ready for you when you open your Mac. Of course, you may also have to navigate out of the windows if your last application opened in full-screen mode. Give it a try and see how it works for you. If it imposes a lengthy startup time on your Mac, you may want to limit the number of apps starting at launch.
1. Open System Preferences.

2. Select the “Users & Groups” pane.

3. Click the “Login Items” tab.

4. Click the “+” button at the bottom of the list of applications.

5. Select the application you wish to have launched at startup.

You also have the option to reopen all the applications you have open at the time you shut down your Mac or log out. At the shutdown confirmation window, be sure to check the box that says “Reopen windows when logging back in” before clicking Shut Down or Log Out.
The first setting, regarding closing windows when quitting apps, will affect every application on your Mac. However, it won’t automatically make every app open in full-screen mode. You’ll need to set that up individually within each app. Other apps will, however, open in the last state you left them in. If you don’t like this behavior, you can close windows before quitting certain apps. However, be advised: this may be a difficult habit to keep separated from NOT closing full-screen application windows.
