There is a proverb that – what Bengal thinks today India will think tomorrow. Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee is such a person who proves this proverb literally. Though he was born in Bengal his mother was Gujarati. This great person was born on 21st February 1961. From the student life he was fond of Economics. So at the next time he became an economist. And the subject of his research was how to remove the cause of poverty from this world. There are so many contributions of Abhijit Banerjee in the field of Economics. He set up a research lab named Abul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. He innovated so many actions to drive away the poverty. This great man worked for the need of distressed people for a long time. Even he went to so many barracks and talked to them. He heard their extreme conditions of life. Beside this he talked to the children who spend their days without foods. Feeling their pathetic situation he was determined to create a plan to remove the poverty. His wife Esther Duffloe who was also an economist helped him in his work. From the Margins of History
by Hasmukh Shah
Accounts of men who have had led significant lives can often be well-meaning but little more than a litany of personal achievements strung together in chronology In the hands of someone like Hasmukh Shan the memoir turns into a rich tapestry or sharp insightful observations. evocative accounts or people from across a dazzlingly broad spectrum, an inside view of events of great significance and a self-deprecatory glimpse into the author's own contributions. This candid recalling of a life begins quietly in a little-known princely state but goes on to dive into the political waters in the capital of India. Hasmukh Shah it seems, entered calamitous times somewhat by accident. His remarkable journey beginning with a modest background, brings him to the job of administering the office of the pr...

BEYOND THE CANVAS
“An artist does not produce the visible, he renders things visible. He reveals what we cannot see. He opens our eyes blinded by habit. He advances into the very heart of creation. He grasps life’s hidden forces and reveals them on canvas” – Govind Madhav Solegaonkar. Beyond the Canvas is a narrative account of the life story of the master artist, Govind Solegaonkar, as seen through the eyes of his youngest granddaughter, Renuka. Govind Solegaonkar (1912–1986) was an artist who made a significant contribution to Indian art. An alumnus of the JJ School of Art and later the president of the Indian Art Society, Solegaonkar’s life was the epitome of burning passion and complete dedication to art. Renuka, a doctor and an artist herself, was two years old when Govind Solegaonkar passe...

Only When You Become A Villain, You’ll Become A Hero Everything seem to be falling apart before I started writing this book, until that one night when I decided to tell this story - My story. This is a story of a simple woman who grew up in a refugee colony, in a lower-middle-class family, struggling to even get proper food; eventually getting married, having kids and choosing to walk away from the marriage - all before turning 20. This is a story of a woman who hustled every moment of her life. She started to work as a nanny, a teacher, a telecaller, and from there to reaching this place where she currently heads sales for PVR Cinemas in South India and Sri Lanka is an extraordinary story of grit, determination, and pure perseverance. From thinking of ending her life despite the abund...

by Neiloo Prasad
It is one of the most enduring of questions – what makes a life well-lived? While for some, the answer entails the accrual of wealth or power; for most of us, it lies in how we choose to experience the simpler pleasures and challenges of everyday events. Encompassed within this narrative are wisdom and insight collated from relatable, practical, and sometimes amusing incidents in an eventful life; from cherished memories of a happy childhood in 1950s Pune, through the experiences of a budding teenager attending a study-abroad program, to adulthood and maturity in the company of a husband, who was more than a companion, a teacher, a guide and above all, a friend, the author shares valuable lessons learned along the way. Integral to that learning has been her encounters with some of the f...
Guts Amidst Bloodbath
by Aditya Bhushan
Guts Amidst Bloodbath is the story of Aunshuman Gaekwad as told by him with many fascinating insights by his teammates, opponents, administrators, selectors, umpires, friends and family members. His is a name associated with Indian Cricket for more than 50 years in some form or the other. But for a player who began his First-Class career as an off-spinner and lower order batsman, to become a Test opener for India is nothing short of remarkable. To play the fast bowlers of the 1970s and 1980s without helmets and other protective gears was an achievement in itself. Post his retirement, he has served Indian cricket in various capac...

The Black Rose
by Shweta Aggarwal
Aged six, Shweta Aggarwal learned that she did not live in a fair world. Indian society at large simply did not equate her dark skin tone with ‘beauty’. She was mercilessly reminded that she was the ‘black sheep’ in her fair-skinned family and taught to believe that only ‘fair is beautiful’. Since then, the shadow of colourism haunted her wherever she lived – be it India, Japan or the UK – until she finally surrendered. But, what does ‘surrendering’ really mean? And what instigated change in her after thirty-eight years?
