Sloww Book Summaries

Sloww Book Summaries: High Quality, Detailed, Nonfiction (& Free!)

About the book summaries.

What makes Sloww summaries the most useful book summaries in the world?

Author Quotes:  I always use the author’s original words— not filtered by my mind. Watch out for book “summaries” that are only or mostly in the reader’s words—you’re essentially playing the “telephone game” with these (you’re reading the reader’s mind, not the author’s words).

Key Themes:  I group similar quotes into key themes, so you get the gist of the main themes from a book  and  see direct examples of original author quotes that support the themes. Key themes can then be synthesized across books to make you more of a interdisciplinary generalist.

Visual Formatting:  I do a lot of extra work to provide intuitive visual organization. This is rarely seen in other book summaries online that are often long pages of unformatted text or bullet points. I use highlighting, bolding, visuals, and infographics to bring my book summaries to life.

Appropriate Length: There are far too many short summaries out there that only give you bits and pieces of a book. My summaries are “as long as they need to be” depending on the quality of the book. I offer both free summaries and 🔒Premium summaries (further distilled and more actionable). Here are some examples of how much fluff I cut out of a book to produce my summaries (free summaries cut ~90% out of a full book on average; 🔒Premium summaries then cut the free summaries in half):

  • What Are Websites That Offer Books Summaries?

Summary websites are online platforms that give short and valuable summaries of different content.

These summaries can cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • news stories and more.

These websites aim to make it easier for users to understand important information quickly.

Summary websites usually find the original text’s main ideas, arguments, or themes. We typically achieve this by using both computer programs and human editors.

Summaries of books are helpful for people who want to understand a lot of information quickly. This includes students, researchers, professionals, and people who learn for fun.

  • Why I Like Websites that Summarize Books

Book summary sites, often perceived as a shortcut, serve many beneficial purposes. Some people call them spoiler websites.

They are not about cheating the literary experience but enhancing it in various ways.

I think these sites benefit those who wish to get the essence of a book before committing to the full read. In my experience, these act as a teaser that can inspire further reading.

For those who have already journeyed through a book, these summaries offer a quick way to refresh their memory.

  • Why Read Book Summaries

No matter which book summary websites and apps you choose, you may wonder if book summaries are worth reading. It can seem like it’s not the same as reading an entire book, and that’s correct.

However, there are a few advantages of consuming book summaries.

  • Choose Books to Read

If you like reading books, try reading the summary first to understand the story.

It might tell you more than the back cover. After checking the summary, you can decide to read the whole book.

Sometimes, the summary is enough, but if you’re interested in more details, go for the entire book.

  • Revisit Old Books

Try reading a summary if you’ve read a book and want to recall its key points.

This is useful for revisiting and applying essential concepts in life or work.

If you don’t own the book, subscribing to a summary service lets you quickly access many summaries and review multiple books.

  • Treat Them Like Articles

You can also read summaries independently without intending to read the entire book. Treat the summaries like articles or podcasts and listen to one or two per day.

A lot of summaries are short and easy to consume. Some services offer text versions for when you want to read like you would a news article.

However, you may also be able to listen to the summary like a podcast. Instead of scouring the news for articles to read, go to your book summary app.

That way, you’ll always have something new to read or listen to during your day.

Busy people who love reading can use book summary websites to keep up with new books.

These summaries are often as short as 10 minutes and can be listened to during commutes or spare moments.

This service is flexible, proper for months or years, and eliminates the need to read entire books.

  • Learn More Efficiently

A book summary can speed up your learning by cutting out unnecessary details in whole books.

If you often find books longer than needed, consider using summaries.

They capture all the key points, allowing you to grasp new concepts quickly.

For any missing information, check summaries of similar books.

You can also buy the whole book and use the summary as a guide to focus on relevant chapters.

  • Individuals Who Offer Free Book Summaries

  • Alex J. Hughes

Now, these bloggers don’t have as many summaries as the platforms. However, you don’t have to pay to access the content.

13 Excellent Book Summary Websites

What’s the best book summary site?

The answer depends on your goals in using one. As such, we’ve compiled a list that has a little something for everyone.

Blinkist may be the most popular book summary website and app on the market right now. As of this writing, it’s also the least expensive paid option for high-quality summaries.

Blinkist employs real people who read the original books and write the summaries, unlike some services which use AI bots.

Each summary takes between 10 and 25 minutes to absorb, and most titles have text and audio files, so you can either read or listen.

Currently, Blinkist only summarizes non-fiction titles.

A gentleman in Sweden named Erik is behind The Book Summary Club, a bare-bones, English-language synopsis site for nonfiction books.

Erik summarizes three big points from the book, gives his opinion, and then offers ideas for practical implementation.

So far, the Book Summary Club features 140 books, and more are added intermittently. Erik also maintains a mailing list for people who want to be updated when a new summary launches.

Price : Free

Nat Eliason is a writer who shares his book notes. He summarizes and comments on fiction, nonfiction, speeches, and articles and then gives each a rating between 1 and 10.

Nat is opinionated, and he shares his thoughts freely. Where does he stand? We’ll put it this way: He loved “Infinite Jest” and couldn’t stand Jen Sincero’s “You Are a Badass.”

Heroic by Optimize — which promises to help you become “the best version of yourself in just three minutes a day” — is much more than a book summary site. (Although, it has those too.)

The platform currently has 600 book summaries, and it adds more monthly. Each title has a text, audio, and video synopsis.

Additionally, Heroic by Optimize offers free classes and micro lessons on everything from self-development to cookery to meditation.

Founded by Niklas Goke, Four Minute Books focuses on nonfiction books.

Like Erik from Book Summary Club, Niklas summarizes three big lessons from the book, gives his opinion, and suggests who the book may be suitable for.

Niklas often summarizes summaries. For example, he may read a Blinkist summary and write a synopsis of that. His goal is to distill books down to four minutes.

At the time of this writing, Four Minute Books features over a thousand books, and he adds more monthly.

Sumizeit wants you to “become smarter in just 10 minutes.”

Marketed as the “Spark Notes for adults,” Sumizeit runs a beautiful, user-friendly site with lots of helpful bells and whistles. Their library is extensive, and it adds new content weekly.

Summaries take about 10 minutes to absorb, and you can choose audio, text, or video.

Popular collections on the platform include science, relationships, parenting, philosophy, and self-development.

Website : sumizeit.com

Price : Three-Book Free Trial / $4.17 a Month (If Paid All at Once) / $5 a Month

Like the rest of the entries on our book summary website list, 12min.com is a micro book library.

As its name suggests, the platform’s summaries take about 12 minutes to absorb.

What separates 12min.com from other options is that it’s geared toward mobile use. You can access it on your PC or tablet, but it’s optimized for your phone.

ReadinGraphics takes a slightly different approach than other book synopsis websites by offering one-page infographic summaries. Each title has a 10- to 15-page text summary and 20-minute audio.

The platform has hundreds of titles and adds more monthly.

Instaread — whose tagline is “Get Smarter in Minutes” — is your classic book summary website with text and audio summaries.

They cover nonfiction and fiction, plus they have a line of originals. Each summary takes about 15 minutes to read or listen to.

Another thing we love about Instaread is that they hire graphic designers to make paintings of all the covers.

Jared Bauer and Greg Edwards (with the support of Wisecrack) are the brains behind “Thug Notes: A Streetsmart Guide to Classic Literature.”

The video book summary platform tackles over 100 classic literature and pop fiction titles. Hosted by Sparky Sweets, Ph.D. uses African-American Vernacular English to break down books like “King Lear,” “To Kill a Mockingbird,” and “Things Fall Apart.” (They even do “50 Shade of Gray.”)

In developing the project, the team’s goal was to “take the ivory tower out of literature.”

Edwards once explained the team’s approach thusly: “The gift of literature is universal in meaning and should be made accessible to everyone on every plane.

So, ‘Thug Notes’ is my way of […] showing that even high-brow academic concepts can be communicated in a clear and open fashion.”

We give Thug Notes a PG-13 rating for occasionally saucy language.

Animated Book Summaries is another YouTube-based synopsis site that lets you sit back and watch videos about popular titles. No reading is required.

The channel’s tagline is “summaries, examples, definition and meaning in a nutshell,” and they primarily cover finance-related material and personal development tomes like Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Self-Reliance.”

GetAbstract has been in the book summary game for over 20 years. Used by international corporations like Microsoft, Visa, and Unilever, the platform boasts over 25,000 summaries.

The website provides synopses for books, podcasts, speeches, and more. Conveniently, you can read via the app or send titles directly to your Kindle. Most of the summaries run about 15 minutes, and there are dozens of curated categories from which to choose.

Looking for someone to read it for you? Well, ReadItFor.Me may be the answer to your prayers. Called the “Cliff’s Notes for Business Books,” most of the platform’s library consists of leadership development summaries.

It also bears the distinction of being the “#1 Book Summary Service for Executives and Entrepreneurs.” So, you’ll be in impressive company with a ReadItFor.Me subscription.

More Questions about Summary Websites for Books

We’ve looked at several summary websites for books. Now, let’s wrap things up with three frequently asked questions about synopsis platforms.

The best free book summary website will depend on your taste, preferences, goals, and budget. If you want a paid, highly professional, full-service option, then Get Abstract or Blinkist may be best.

If you prefer “homegrown” websites run by an individual, Four Minute Books or the Book Summary Club may be more up your alley.

Again, it’s difficult for us to declare one book summary site as “the best” because everyone’s needs and wants are different. We give a thumbs up to every site that made our

Are you looking for a “synopsis of books” website that does chapter-by-chapter summaries? Head to Sparknotes.com , LitCharts.com (the brainchild of a former Sparknotes employee), and GradeSaver.com .

Back in the day, Cliff’s Notes was the main book summary option on the market. Cliff was the saving grace of everyone aged 12 and 95 navigating their way through school.

In the last 25 years, however, the market has expanded. Today’s students can pick from dozens of book summary services, the most popular being Course Hero, LitCharts, and GradeSaver.

The 5 Best Book Summary Websites to Up-Level Your Brain

POSTED ON Nov 20, 2021

Jackie Pearce

Written by Jackie Pearce

There’s a lot of reasons you might need a book summary. Maybe you don’t have the time to get through the books on your “want to read” list . Maybe you need to write some book notes for an article you’re working on. Maybe you just want to figure out if you want to read a full book.

Either way, it can be incredibly time-consuming to read through a whole book to find what you need, which is where book summary websites become a great option.

In this article, we’re going to dive into five different options. Most sites cover different types of books or have different uses, so you should be able to find the one you need.

This guide to the best book summary websites covers:

What are book summaries, getabstract.

Book summaries are pretty much exactly what they sound like — a summary of a book. Some summaries are incredibly in-depth and give you a ton of details. Others are shorter and give you main bullet points. Which one you pick will depend on what you need the summary for, but just know both are available.

If you’re a person who loves the nitty gritty details in some books, book summaries might not work for you. Most summaries skip over the stories that accompany most of the points the author is trying to make. However, if you love just being able to understand the main points and don’t mind losing some of the accompanying stories, these are exactly what you need.

Each book summary also depends on the person or company creating the summaries, as different people might find some parts more important than others.

Book Summary Websites - Blinkist

Blinkist is one of the more well-known book summary websites. It helps you get through books within fifteen minutes instead of the usual hours (or days) it takes to get through a book. Currently, there are over 5,000 books you have access to inside of Blinkist to learn. At the time of writing this, there is currently a free plan which only lets you access one summary per day, but depending on your schedule that might be a great option.

The main premise behind Blinkist is to use your blocks of time where you’re doing something mindless, such as commuting or waiting in line at a store, to learn great takeaways from some of the most popular books out there. You can download the audio versions of any of the book summaries so you can listen to them while you travel or are offline.

  • Curates a to-read list for you as you go through books
  • Gives notes on podcasts as well as books
  • Provides both audio and video summaries
  • Works offline
  • Around 40 books added per month
  • Available on iPhone and Android
  • Limited free plan
  • To fit in their time frame for summaries, longer books can be missing more key information than shorter books
  • With a free account, you are capped at only one book summary per day
  • Free trial for first 7 days
  • Paid plan starts at $8.34/month and is billed at $99.99 for the year
  • Month-to-month plan is $15.99/month

Book Summary Websites - Getabstract

If you’re a fan of business books but don’t have time to read all the ones you wish you could, getAbstract is a great option. With a third of the Fortune 500 using GetAbstract, it has some of the best information to keep you up to date on all the newest books and information being published regularly. They have some other books out

As opposed to some others, getAbstract also has features based around businesses with employees. You can set up a monthly reading club or give access to certain topics for your employees to get caught up on a subject before important meetings.

  • Mobile app for on-the-go learning
  • Rights secured for every title
  • 22,000+ books
  • Comes in multiple languages: English, German, Spanish, Chinese, French, Portuguese, and Russian
  • Summaries of articles and reports
  • Summaries of TED Talks
  • More expensive than some other options
  • Mostly focused on business books
  • 3 day free trial
  • A free student plan with access to 5,000 book summaries (upgrade to 22,000+ titles at $99 per year)
  • The Pro Monthly starts at $29.90 per month or $299 for the year

Book Summary Websites - Sparknotes

Most of us used SparkNotes in school to get a quick summary on a book we had to read for an assignment. SparkNotes mainly focuses on academic books and topics such as Shakespeare, biographies, classic books, and other commonly-read books in schools.

It’s not purely summaries either, it’s mostly meant to help you understand what is being said, which is particularly helpful when it comes to old texts or Shakespeare. With over 500 guides, you’re bound to find the text you need.

  • Accurate, quality summaries of most of the famous classic books
  • No Fear Shakespeare which is a side-by-side translation of Shakespeare which takes the text and turns it into plain English so you can understand every line
  • Apps available on iOS and Android
  • Help to make sure you can source from SparkNotes correctly
  • It doesn’t have a lot of the new bestsellers as most content is for students
  • If you’re being tested on a book, it might not have all the details you need
  • SparkNotes is free to use

Book Summary Websites - Instaread

Instaread has a ton of book summaries inside of a clean, simple interface. They have a built-in “cards” feature which allows you to save your favorite quotes from books for reference. If there’s a book you’re enjoying more than the others, you also have the option to purchase the audiobook through the app itself to store in your digital Instaread library.

There are also some books exclusive to Instaread, so you can get all-new content. Some authors with exclusive content include Oprah, Elon Musk, Steven Hawking, Tim Ferriss, and so on. Along with major books, they also release summaries of articles from publications such as The New York Times and Harvard Business Review.

  • Available on all devices
  • Can buy audiobooks through the app
  • Exclusive content not available anywhere else
  • Some of the reviews and summaries are longer than you would find on the other apps
  • Fewer book options than on some of the other websites
  • Seven days of a free trial
  • Plans start at $

Book Summary Websites - Optimize

Optimize.me focuses mainly on books and content surrounding personal development — thus, its name. Most of the books focus on health, wealth, business, fitness, lifestyle, and philosophy. It has a sleek design which makes reading each of the notes easier. There are also accompanying videos for a ton of the books for a deeper understanding.

While it has over 600+ personal growth book notes, it also has tips for better optimizing your life along with a class that shows you how to get the most out of your life. Due to a great funding round, Optimize is now free for people to use.

  • Available on iOS and Android
  • Focuses on personal development
  • Personal development bonus options (quotes, courses, and so on)
  • PDF and mp3 downloads available
  • Not many books outside of the personal development realm
  • More for personal development than notes in an academic setting
  • It used to be $100 per year, but now it’s free

Ah what an app. Highly recommend SumizeIt Book Summaries. Best of all I have experienced in market. iOS app is rock solid and performs each time. Plus their service and support is incredible. Also they have frequent newsletter with a surprising book summary suggested to listen too. Love it. Can be turned off if someone would not like it. SumizeIt Book Summary app team, great job and well done. Thanks for your efforts.

Jitesh Goswami

Very good development in last months. Content updates on a regular basis and UI is getting better and better.

Great product. Have used them for a long time. One of my favorite things about them is that they are able to summarize a whole book into just 10 minutes.

As someone who's been a paid yearly subscriber for 20+ years to Executive Book Summaries, I found the lifetime deal hard to resist. In reading a few of their summaries, I thought they capture the book's essence, theme, and highlights pretty well. The language is easy, and straightforward to read and understand. I'm really looking forward to their video summaries, and how they work. Overall, happy with purchase.

Book Summaries: The Best Book Summary Websites & Apps

“So many books, so little time.” — Frank Zappa

Ever since humans learned to read and write, everything changed.

We could pass on information and wisdom to the next generations and that’s the reason for our dramatic growth.

We all know the importance of books. Yet, not all of us can read books as often as we’d like to. Here are a few reasons for that:

  • Lack of time and energy
  • Shortening of attention span (due to technology and social media)
  • The confusion of which book to read next

So we either turn to book summaries or we don’t read at all.

But there’s a problem…

When you read a book summary, you hear voices like:

“Reading summaries of books does NOT replace reading books.”

“Book summaries are NOT enough!”

book summary app

Should You Read Book Summaries?

The short answer is yes.

Of course, book summary websites, apps, or videos don’t replace books. But that doesn’t mean they don’t provide value.

In fact, they provide more value than you could ever get from the passive consumption of social media.

Instead of choosing between reading book summaries or reading books , why not do both?

I’ve read book summaries of so many books that I will never touch in my life and I still read the books I want to read.

The best part?

I’ve already done the hard work for you and compiled a list of websites with free book summaries (especially nonfiction book summaries) along with the summarizer’s best or favorite book summary to start with.

How To Read A Book Summary

Here’s a quick rundown of the different ways you can use these book summary websites:

  • Read summaries of books to dip your toes before buying them.
  • Read them to revisit the best concepts from a book (because repetition is the mother of lifelong learning).
  • Read them to hunt for books to read.
  • Read them like you read articles.
  • Actually apply the lessons you learn from these summaries because learning more is not always the answer .

The last thing you need is a plan for reading the best book summaries. It won’t fit in your schedule by accident. For that, determine your reading frequency, set a trigger, create a focused environment, and get reading.

An example:

  • Reading frequency: 5 book summaries a week
  • Trigger: Reminder on my phone
  • Environment: Remove distractions (you can use FocusMe , Freedom , or Cold Turkey )
  • Set a reward (optional)

We live in an information age where we jump from one article to another. That’s no way to accelerate your learning. You need focused time-blocks to read what matters. You can learn more about how I read books or articles by clicking here .

Readwise is a great tool to gather all your book notes and use spaced repetition to remember what you read.

Books are still one of the best sources of learning. Now that you know where to find the best-summarized version of them, it’s your turn to “hack” your way through life one book summary at a time.

An all-American Bible — with a cut of the sales going to Trump

Donald trump finds votes and profits at the intersection of politics and religion.

summaries of books websites

Donald Trump is not a particularly religious person, if he is one at all. Even Americans who view him favorably are a lot more likely to say he’s “not religious” than “very religious.” He goes to churches for political rallies far more often than he goes for services. He says the Bible is his favorite book, though he generally qualifies that by noting that he’s also a big fan of “The Art of the Deal.”

Makes sense that he’d like his own book, given how much money he’s made off it over the years. On Tuesday, though, he announced a promotion that might endear him even further to the central Christian text: a “God Bless the USA” Bible, some of the proceeds of which will flow back to him.

Sign up for the How to Read This Chart newsletter

Trump announced the book on his social media platform, Truth Social — itself a particularly lucrative venture at the moment, given that its just-listed stock price has jumped nearly 50 percent .

“Happy Holy Week!” Trump’s post said. “Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible.” He tagged musician Lee Greenwood in the post because the “God Bless the USA” singer is also touted as an endorser on the product’s webpage .

The promoted Bible has not only the standard books, but also a few additions including the Constitution (“which I’m fighting for every single day very hard,” Trump says in a video attached to the post), the Pledge of Allegiance and, as the webpage touts, the “[h]andwritten chorus to ‘God Bless The USA’ by Lee Greenwood.” It was originally slated for release in 2021, but an outcry from a number of prominent Christians derailed the rollout.

That was then. The current website for the book includes an FAQ that addresses the question of how the former president benefits from the partnership. It assures visitors that no money from the sale of the Bibles will go to Trump’s political campaign. Instead, “ GodBlessTheUSABible.com uses Donald J. Trump’s name, likeness and image under paid license from CIC Ventures LLC, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms.”

CIC Ventures, though, is a conduit to Trump — personally, if not politically. In his financial disclosure released last year, he’s identified as the company’s “manager, president, secretary and treasurer” and the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust is identified as a 100 percent owner of the business. The same entity also receives royalties from his book “A MAGA Journey” and speaking engagements. A person familiar with the agreement confirmed to the New York Times that Trump earns royalties from purchases.

In retrospect, we might have predicted this particular business venture.

First, Trump has increasingly branched out on his endorsement gigs, slapping his name or likeness on sneakers and NFTs in addition to campaign merchandise. He is in a cash crunch — personally and politically — and has been unafraid throughout his career to put the Trump name on anything that might yield a stream of revenue.

But, second, Trump has mined right-wing religiosity consistently for political support and political contributions. Why not branch out into private-sector benefits?

“That’s why our country is going haywire: We’ve lost religion in our country,” Trump says in the video hyping his new partnership. “All Americans need a Bible in their home and I have many. It’s my favorite book.” At another point, he insists that Christians are “under siege” and that “we have to protect anything that is pro-God.”

This is familiar rhetoric. In each of his presidential campaigns , he’s presented similar warnings and promises: Christianity is under threat, and he will be its relentless defender. He’s been effective at building fervent support among White evangelical Protestants, thanks to his insistent efforts to deliver on their political desires. He has been as effective at leveraging the insecurities of evangelical Christians as he has of White conservatives overall.

That this was perhaps predictable doesn’t make it less cynical. The pairing of foundational documents like the Constitution with the Bible has appeal to the conservative Christians Trump embraces but would unquestionably be viewed skeptically by the Constitution’s writers. And, again, even his supporters understand that he’s not really religious. If religion is as essential to America as he claims, why doesn’t that apply to him and his family? (In 2015, his putative church released a statement noting that he wasn’t an “active member.”)

More to the point, why is he plugging this Bible now? The answers are obvious: now because he needs money and this Bible because he benefits financially to some extent.

Perhaps you think I am also being cynical. After all, Trump offers that he’s pitching the book now because Easter is Sunday. Perhaps he simply wants Americans to have a Bible in-hand on the most sacred of Christian holidays.

We turn again to that FAQ.

“The God Bless The USA Bible is printed in limited-edition quantities,” it reads. “Most orders ship within 4-6 weeks of the time ordered. Your order will ship as it becomes available, and we will make reasonable efforts to ship your order as quickly as possible.”

You pay the cost of the Bible, shipping and taxes up front, of course. First things first.

Trump promotes Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless The USA Bible': What to know about the book and its long journey

summaries of books websites

  • Former president Donald Trump encourages supporters to buy Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA Bible," a project inspired by Nashville country musician's hit song.
  • Resurgent version of Greenwood's Bible project a modified version from original concept, a change that likely followed 2021 shake-up in publishers.

After years with few updates about Lee Greenwood’s controversial Bible, the project is again resurgent with a recent promotion by former President Donald Trump.

“All Americans need to have a Bible in their home and I have many. It’s my favorite book,” Trump said in a video posted to social media Tuesday, encouraging supporters to purchase the “God Bless The USA Bible.” “Religion is so important and so missing, but it’s going to come back.”

Greenwood — the Nashville area country musician whose hit song “God Bless the USA” inspired the Bible with a similar namesake — has long been allies with Trump and other prominent Republicans, many of whom are featured in promotional material for the “God Bless The USA Bible.” But that reputational clout in conservative circles hasn’t necessarily translated to business success in the past, largely due to a major change in the book’s publishing plan.

Here's what to know about the Bible project’s journey so far and why it’s significant it’s back in the conservative limelight.

An unordinary Bible, a fiery debate

The “God Bless The USA Bible” received heightened attention since the outset due to its overt political features.

The text includes the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Pledge of Allegiance, and the lyrics to the chorus to Greenwood’s “God Bless The USA.” Critics saw it as a symbol of Christian nationalism, a right-wing movement that believes the U.S. was founded as a Christian nation.

A petition emerged in 2021 calling Greenwood’s Bible “a toxic mix that will exacerbate the challenges to American evangelicalism.” From there, a broader conversation ensued about the standards by which publishers print Bibles.

Gatekeeping in Bible publishing

Greenwood’s early business partner on the project, a Hermitage-based marketing firm called Elite Source Pro, initially reached a manufacturing agreement with the Nashville-based HarperCollins Christian Publishing to print the “God Bless The USA Bible.”

As part of that agreement, HarperCollins would publish the book but not sell or endorse it. But then HarperCollins reversed course , a major setback for Greenwood’s Bible.

The reversal by HarperCollins followed a decision by Zondervan — a publishing group under HarperCollins Christian Publishing and an official North American licensor for Bibles printed in the New International Version translation — to pass on the project. HarperCollins said the decision was unrelated to the petition or other public denunciations against Greenwood’s Bible.

The full backstory: Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless the USA Bible' finds new printer after HarperCollins Christian passes

A new translation and mystery publisher

The resurgent “God Bless The USA Bible” featured in Trump’s recent ad is an altered version of the original concept, a modification that likely followed the publishing shake-up.

Greenwood’s Bible is now printed in the King James Version, a different translation from the original pitch to HarperCollins.

Perhaps the biggest mystery is the new publisher. That manufacturer is producing a limited quantity of copies, leading to a delayed four-to-six weeks for a copy to ship.

It’s also unclear which business partners are still involved in the project. Hugh Kirkman, who led Elite Service Pro, the firm that originally partnered with Greenwood for the project, responded to a request for comment by referring media inquiries to Greenwood’s publicist.

The publicist said Elite Source Pro is not a partner on the project and the Bible has always been printed in the King James Version.

"Several years ago, the Bible was going to be printed with the NIV translation, but something happened with the then licensor and the then potential publisher. As a result, this God Bless The USA Bible has always been printed with the King James Version translation," publicist Jeremy Westby said in a statement.

Westby did not have the name of the new licensee who is manufacturing the Bible.

Trump’s plug for the “God Bless The USA Bible” recycled language the former president is using to appeal to a conservative Christian base.

“Our founding fathers did a tremendous thing when they built America on Judeo-Christian values,” Trump said in his video on social media. “Now that foundation is under attack perhaps as never before.”
