Genially in a nutshell
How do I make a presentation interactive and how does Genially work? Find the answers to all of your slide-related questions here!
What’s an interactive presentation?
Interactive slides contain clickable hotspots, links, buttons, and animations that are activated at the touch of a button. Instead of reading or watching passively, your audience can actively interact with the content.
Genially’s interaction presentation software allows you to combine text, photos, video clips, audio and other content in one deck. It’s a great way to condense more information into fewer slides.
If you’re a teacher, you can share multiple materials in one single learning resource. Students can create their own projects using digital media and online maps. For business or training, try embedding spreadsheet data, PDFs, and online content directly in your slides.
An interactive slide deck is more user-friendly than a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or Google Slides document. That’s because you can break information down into chunks with pop-ups, labels, voiceovers and annotated infographics.
The other benefit of interactive content is increased engagement. It’s easier to keep your audience’s attention when they’re actively participating. Try Genially’s presentation software and free slideshow maker to see how it’s better than other presentation websites. You won’t go back to standard presentation apps!
How do you make a clickable slide?
The best way to make slides clickable is to use Genially’s free interactive presentation program. Design your slide then apply an interaction. In a couple of clicks, you can add popup windows, hyperlinks, close-up images, games, animations, multimedia and other content.
Choose from the library of hotspot buttons and icons to show people what to click on. Go to Presenter View to get a preview and see how your content will appear to your audience.
How do I create presentations that look professional?
You’ve got a deadline looming and you’re staring at the screen with a blank presentation. We’ve all been there! Starting a presentation design from scratch is tricky, especially if you’re short on time.
Genially’s free online presentation maker has over 2000 ready-to-use templates for professional slide presentations, photos slideshows, and more. Each slide design has been created by our team of top graphic designers. No need to worry about fonts, centering images, or designing a matching color scheme. It’s all done for you.
Start by browsing our layouts and themes for education, business and then customize with your own text and images.
How do I share or download my slides?
Because Genially is a cloud based presentation software, you can simply share the link to your slides. Like other online presentation tools, there are no files to download or store on your computer. Everything is saved online.
When you publish your slide deck, it gets its own unique url, just like a website. Share the link with others to let them explore the content in their own time. If you’re presenting live, just click the Present button.
You can also embed your presentation on your website, company wiki, or social media. Genially is compatible with WordPress, Moodle, Google Classroom, and other platforms. If you use an LMS, you can also download your interactive design slides in SCORM format.
For slideshow videos and slideshows with music, share online or download as an MP4 video. Check out our free slideshow templates for ideas.
Can I make a free presentation in Genially?
You bet! Genially is an easy-to-use slide maker, with a free version and paid plans. The free plan allows you to create unlimited slides with interactions and animations. Subscribe to one of our paid plans for more advanced features.

Create your presentation
Writing tone, number of slides.
Professional
AI presentation maker
When lack of inspiration or time constraints are something you’re worried about, it’s a good idea to seek help. Slidesgo comes to the rescue with its latest functionality—the AI presentation maker! With a few clicks, you’ll have wonderful slideshows that suit your own needs . And it’s totally free!
Generate presentations in minutes
We humans make the world move, but we need to sleep, rest and so on. What if there were someone available 24/7 for you? It’s time to get out of your comfort zone and ask the AI presentation maker to give you a hand. The possibilities are endless : you choose the topic, the tone and the style, and the AI will do the rest. Now we’re talking!
Customize your AI-generated presentation online
Alright, your robotic pal has generated a presentation for you. But, for the time being, AIs can’t read minds, so it’s likely that you’ll want to modify the slides. Please do! We didn’t forget about those time constraints you’re facing, so thanks to the editing tools provided by one of our sister projects —shoutouts to Wepik — you can make changes on the fly without resorting to other programs or software. Add text, choose your own colors, rearrange elements, it’s up to you! Oh, and since we are a big family, you’ll be able to access many resources from big names, that is, Freepik and Flaticon . That means having a lot of images and icons at your disposal!
How does it work?
Think of your topic.
First things first, you’ll be talking about something in particular, right? A business meeting, a new medical breakthrough, the weather, your favorite songs, a basketball game, a pink elephant you saw last Sunday—you name it. Just type it out and let the AI know what the topic is.
Choose your preferred style and tone
They say that variety is the spice of life. That’s why we let you choose between different design styles, including doodle, simple, abstract, geometric, and elegant . What about the tone? Several of them: fun, creative, casual, professional, and formal. Each one will give you something unique, so which way of impressing your audience will it be this time? Mix and match!
Make any desired changes
You’ve got freshly generated slides. Oh, you wish they were in a different color? That text box would look better if it were placed on the right side? Run the online editor and use the tools to have the slides exactly your way.
Download the final result for free
Yes, just as envisioned those slides deserve to be on your storage device at once! You can export the presentation in .pdf format and download it for free . Can’t wait to show it to your best friend because you think they will love it? Generate a shareable link!
What is an AI-generated presentation?
It’s exactly “what it says on the cover”. AIs, or artificial intelligences, are in constant evolution, and they are now able to generate presentations in a short time, based on inputs from the user. This technology allows you to get a satisfactory presentation much faster by doing a big chunk of the work.
Can I customize the presentation generated by the AI?
Of course! That’s the point! Slidesgo is all for customization since day one, so you’ll be able to make any changes to presentations generated by the AI. We humans are irreplaceable, after all! Thanks to the online editor, you can do whatever modifications you may need, without having to install any software. Colors, text, images, icons, placement, the final decision concerning all of the elements is up to you.
Can I add my own images?
Absolutely. That’s a basic function, and we made sure to have it available. Would it make sense to have a portfolio template generated by an AI without a single picture of your own work? In any case, we also offer the possibility of asking the AI to generate images for you via prompts. Additionally, you can also check out the integrated gallery of images from Freepik and use them. If making an impression is your goal, you’ll have an easy time!
Is this new functionality free? As in “free of charge”? Do you mean it?
Yes, it is, and we mean it. We even asked our buddies at Wepik, who are the ones hosting this AI presentation maker, and they told us “yup, it’s on the house”.
Are there more presentation designs available?
From time to time, we’ll be adding more designs. The cool thing is that you’ll have at your disposal a lot of content from Freepik and Flaticon when using the AI presentation maker. Oh, and just as a reminder, if you feel like you want to do things yourself and don’t want to rely on an AI, you’re on Slidesgo, the leading website when it comes to presentation templates. We have thousands of them, and counting!.
How can I download my presentation?
The easiest way is to click on “Download” to get your presentation in .pdf format. But there are other options! You can click on “Present” to enter the presenter view and start presenting right away! There’s also the “Share” option, which gives you a shareable link. This way, any friend, relative, colleague—anyone, really—will be able to access your presentation in a moment.

5 Of The Best Apps To Create And Edit Presentations On Android Devices
W hether you're attending school or are part of the corporate world, you're likely no stranger to presentations. They're a staple in both academic and professional settings as they're one of the best ways to share ideas with your class, client, or higher-ups. Normally, you'd rely on your computer to create your presentations, but it isn't exactly convenient for on-the-fly edits. After all, you can't just open your laptop as you're running to class or on an elevator on the way to a board meeting. You'd need something more portable for last-minute tweaks like adding speaker notes or changing the image caption in your slides.
Thankfully, you're not without options as there's a plethora of apps on the Play Store designed to help you whip up or polish presentations right from your Android device. What's even better is that some of these apps don't require you to be online, so you can stay productive anytime, anywhere. We've narrowed down the search and came up with five of the best presentation apps for Android you need to try.

Google Slides
If you're already in the Google ecosystem and using apps like Drive, Meet, and Calendar, Google Slides is one of the top presentation apps for you. One of its main draws is its seamless interconnectivity with other Google products. Create a presentation in the Slides app, and it will pop up in Drive automatically. Punch in your Google Meet meeting ID, and you can show your presentation directly in Slides -– no need to install the Meet app itself. Connect Slides with your Calendar, and you can also start presenting your Slides file for a scheduled meeting in Meet. Another nifty presentation feature of Slides is its live Q&A session that allows you to display questions on the screen as you go.
Editing and creating presentations from scratch is a breeze in Slides, too. There are several Slides templates to get you started, along with a handful of themes and layouts you can switch to depending on your style and content. Slides comes with all the standard formatting options at your disposal, including font styles, sizes, colors, and emphasis (e.g., bold, italics, underline). Just like in other Google products like Docs and Sheets, Slides lets you leave comments and enable offline use for certain files.
Google Slides won't cost you a dime — all you need is a Google account. The downside, however, is that the Android app has limited font styles and doesn't let you add slide transitions. For those extras, you'll need to open your presentation in the web app on a computer.
Microsoft Powerpoint
Microsoft PowerPoint is most people's go-to presentation platform, and for good reason. The mobile app mirrors the look and functionality of its desktop and web counterparts, so you won't have a hard time navigating and using the platform. You'll find nearly all the editing tools you'd expect from the desktop and web apps, including layout adjustments, text formatting, drawing capabilities, themes, transitions, animations, and review and view modes for inserting comments and notes. Even the handy search functionality is featured in the mobile app. PowerPoint also syncs to your OneDrive in real-time (provided you're connected to the internet), making it pretty easy to switch editing between your phone and computer.
Similar to desktop and web apps, the PowerPoint mobile app allows you to present directly on your device in full-screen, complete with extra presentation aids. There's an ink tool for live annotations that you can choose to keep in the file like drawings. The app also offers a button to display a blank screen, a handy tool for Q&A sessions, or when you're using PowerPoint for quizzes and need to temporarily hide questions from students.
Downloading the PowerPoint mobile app is free, but there's a catch: if you're using a free personal account, you can only view presentations you've previously made using the desktop/web app. You can't create a new presentation or edit existing ones without subscribing to a premium plan first.
One of the affordable alternatives for Microsoft Word , WPS Office comes complete with a presentation maker and editor too. What makes it stand out from other presentation apps is its extensive collection of templates, sorted into neat categories like education, business, nature, minimal, work report, album, and medical. You can choose from at least 70 templates for education-related presentations, 40 templates for business presentations, and 30 templates for work reports, most of which are free to edit. Speaking of editing, WPS Office includes most of the standard tools you need. There are text styling features, transitions, animations, and layout options. You can also insert different extra content like a picture, background music, audio, video, shape, table, and chart into your slides.
On the other hand, WPS Office's presentation tools are beyond the basics. You can opt to auto-play your presentation for convenience, selectively hide or show certain slides, and annotate the slides with the ink tool. Another handy presentation feature is the PPT Recorder which allows you to record your presentation in full-screen, complete with audio and ink annotations. There's also a Miracast option right within the app, so you can readily cast the presentation to a bigger screen.
WPS Office is free to download and use, but you do need to sign into an account to create a presentation. If you feel like the free account is too basic, feel free to upgrade to WPS Pro which comes with extra features like document merging, image-to-PDF converter, PDF editor, document recovery, and bigger cloud space.
While you probably know Canva as a free photo editing app for Android, it's actually an excellent platform for creating and editing presentations on mobile as well. However, you'll notice it doesn't quite echo the vibe of Google Slides, PowerPoint, or WPS Office as its interface is a world away from the three (but you really won't need to spend days getting the hang of it, thanks to its intuitive and user-friendly design). Canva's customizable templates are also different from other presentation apps not only because they come in varied styles (e.g., elegant, corporate, pastel), themes (e.g., game, brainstorm, quiz), and colors but also because you can pick from more than one size (16:9, 4:3, or mobile-first).
Another thing that sets Canva apart is its app integrations. There are apps that allow you to create a QR code, use photos from Pixabay or Pexels, turn a photo into an anime-style graphic, and even translate text all within Canva. Beyond the typical photos and videos, Canva also lets you insert other fancy elements like AI-generated images, pre-made graphics, and charts into your presentation without needing to import them from your local storage. And yes, you can also run your presentation straight from the app. All of these neat features, however, are only accessible when you're connected to the internet. You can't use Canva offline.
Canva is free, but there's a Pro tier for those looking for other advanced features like image background remover, file resizer, and access to Pro templates.
Presentation Creator
Presentation Creator is similar to Canva in several ways, especially when it comes to user interface and features. Moving away from the familiar style of traditional presentation apps like PowerPoint or Google Slides, its UI leans more towards the feel of a photo editor. Its features also resemble that of photo editors, much like Canva. You'll find an element tab featuring dozens of graphics and line drawings, a text tab allowing you to add simple text, text within graphics, or AI-generated content, and a video tab letting you insert videos from YouTube, Google Photos, or your gallery. There's also an images tab providing you access not only to stock photos but also pictures from your storage and third-party sources like Facebook, Google Photos, and Google Drive.
Another nifty thing about Presentation Creator is that you can download your slides as JPG, PNG, or PDF, with options to use a transparent background if you prefer. Like other presentation apps, you can also present your slides within Presentation Creator. However, the presentation tools are pretty basic, with only the option to display the slides full screen and show or hide the next slides.
You only need to sign up for an account to use Presentation Creator, but to access more features like more stock images, background remover, AI content writer, and PDF editor, among many others, you need to upgrade to the Pro+.

Don't start your work presentations by simply saying 'hello.' Here's how to be more engaging in the conference room.
- I'm a public-speaking expert, and I've trained many executives and senior teams.
- I tell all of them to stop starting work presentations with a salutation or a "hello."
- Instead, you should engage your audience by telling a story or asking a question.
I'm sure you've sat through plenty of presentations where the presenter starts with a polite salutation like, "Hello, thank you for having me here today," or, "I am so glad to be here" — often followed by their name and professional résumé . Sometimes, if it's an internal meeting, you get the same salutations followed by an agenda slide with bullet points and the presenter narrating it.
As a public-speaking coach who has worked with many executives and senior teams, I know how to make work presentations more engaging. Here's how you should change your approach.
If you stick to your old ways, you aren't leaving a memorable first impression
Your audience is thinking three things when you walk into that conference room or onto that stage: Who is this person, why should I care, and how are they going to solve my problem?
Let's face it: Most people are more interested in how you will solve their problem than in you and your professional résumé. So let's flip the script a bit. Start with the solution to their problem, briefly talk about yourself for credibility, and then give them a reason to care.
Instead, try to capture their attention
Begin your presentation with a hook or a story — something that grabs their attention right from the start. For instance, your hook might be, "Did you know this?" or "What if that?" It could also be a short story that humanizes your services or products.
Most presentations are predictable; wouldn't it be better for both your time and your audience if you could introduce an element of surprise?
Some might feel it rude not to thank the organizer or greet the audience, so I suggest finding another place in your presentation for this. Here's a good structure:
Intro: "What if you could be a more confident and credible presenter? What if you could engage with your audience so they remember your products or services?"
Credibility: "My name is Meridith, and I've been coaching entrepreneurs and executives on how to speak with spark for over a decade, and I am really excited to be here. I want to thank [insert name] for inviting me to share the afternoon with you."
Solution: "Today, I will give you three ways to make your audience remember your products and services, helping you stand out in a competitive market. Let's get this party started!"
You could also try to form a personal connection
Often, presentations lack a personal touch. Try sharing a relevant personal anecdote or experience that relates to your topic. This not only makes your work presentation more relatable but also helps to establish a deeper connection with your audience.
For example, you could say: "When I was younger, I often hid in the back of the classroom, hoping the teacher wouldn't call on me because I didn't want to sound stupid or have the wrong answer. Later in life, I discovered acting and improv comedy . It was through the practice of these two art forms that I developed my confidence and learned how to engage more courageously with others. Today, I will give you solutions for how you can also better engage your audience with spark."
Try to encourage interaction
At the very least, you should try to engage your audience from the beginning — whether in person or on virtual calls. You can ask a thought-provoking question or propose a challenge that involves them directly. This approach shifts the dynamic to more interactive and engaging sessions.
If you implement any of these suggestions, you can make your presentation memorable and impactful immediately. And you'll most likely get a larger return on your investment of time and energy.
In today's fast-paced world, where attention spans are increasingly shorter than ever, it's crucial to grab and hold your audience's attention from the very beginning. By doing so, you set the stage for a more engaging and productive interaction. So challenge yourself to break free from presentation norms and embrace a style that resonates deeply with your audience and leaves a lasting impression.

How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps
Copilot is available in the Home ribbon tab of Word, Excel (Preview), PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote if you are a Copilot Pro subscriber who also has a subscription to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family.
If you have those subscriptions and are not seeing Copilot in these Microsoft 365 apps, follow these steps:
Important: Copilot in Outlook only supports work or school accounts, and Microsoft accounts using outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and msn.com email addresses at this time. Any Microsoft account using an account from a third-party email provider, such as a Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, can still use Outlook, but won’t have access to the Copilot features in Outlook.
Step 1 - Ensure you're using the correct account
Make sure you're signed into your Microsoft 365 apps with an account that has a Copilot license.
For home users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, and Copilot Pro.
For business users ...this means you should have a Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Business Premium, E3, or E5 subscription, and Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
Step 2 - Make sure that the current file is saved in that account
If you have multiple file locations available to you - such as your business OneDrive and your personal OneDrive - Copilot will only appear if the file you have open is saved to the location associated to your Copilot subscription.
For example, if you have Copilot through your work account, but not through your personal account, and you open a file from your personal OneDrive, Copilot won't work with that file.
For new, unsaved files, or files on your local hard drive, the current primary account shown at the top of the Microsoft 365 window must be licensed for Copilot.
Important: Copilot in Excel requires AutoSave to be turned on, which means the file has to be saved to OneDrive. It currently doesn't work with unsaved files.
Step 3 - Refresh your license
Force a refresh of the license.
Note: These steps must be done by the account administrator.
In any Microsoft 365 app, go to File > Account .
Close and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you might have open so that the license refresh can take effect.
In any Microsoft 365 app, select the app name at the top of your screen.
Close any open documents and restart all Microsoft 365 apps you may have open so the license refresh can take effect.
Ensure your apps are updated to their latest versions via your device's app store.
Close your app completely, and then re-launch it.
Refresh the page
Select the Refresh icon in your browser to see if the Copilot features appear.
You may have third-party cookies blocked in your browser, which currently causes Copilot to be unable to validate your license. If Copilot still isn't working for you try enabling third-party cookies. For more information see: I am getting license validation errors with Copilot.

Sora is ChatGPT maker OpenAI’s new text-to-video generator. Here’s what we know about the new tool

NEW YORK (AP) — The maker of ChatGPT is now diving into AI-generated video.
Meet Sora — OpenAI’s new text-to-video generator . The tool, which the San Francisco company unveiled Thursday, uses generative artificial intelligence to instantly create short videos based on written commands.
Sora isn’t the first to demonstrate this kind of technology. But industry analysts point to the high quality of the tool’s videos displayed so far, and note that its introduction marks a significant leap for both OpenAI and the future of text-to-video generation overall.
Still, as with all things in the rapidly growing AI space today, such technology also raises fears about potential ethical and societal implications. Here’s what you need to know.
WHAT IS SORA? CAN I USE IT YET?
Sora is a text-to-video generator — creating videos up to 60 seconds long based on written prompts using generative AI. The model can also generate video from an existing still image.
Generative AI is a branch of AI that can create something new. Examples include chatbots, like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and image-generators such as DALL-E and Midjourney. Getting an AI system to generate videos is newer and more challenging but relies on some of the same technology.
Sora isn’t available for public use yet (OpenAI says it’s engaging with policymakers and artists before officially releasing the tool) and there’s a lot we still don’t know. But since Thursday’s announcement, the company has shared a handful of examples of Sora-generated videos to show off what it can do.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to ask social media users to send in prompt ideas. He later shared realistically detailed videos that responded to prompts like “two golden retrievers podcasting on top of a mountain " and “a bicycle race on ocean with different animals as athletes riding the bicycles with drone camera view.”
While Sora-generated videos can depict complex, incredibly detailed scenes, OpenAI notes that there are still some weaknesses — including some spatial and cause-and-effect elements. For example, OpenAI adds on its website, “a person might take a bite out of a cookie, but afterward, the cookie may not have a bite mark.”
ARE THERE OTHER AI-GENERATED VIDEO TOOLS OUT THERE TODAY?
OpenAI’s Sora isn’t the first of its kind. Google, Meta and the startup Runway ML are among companies that have demonstrated similar technology.
Still, industry analysts stress the apparent quality and impressive length of Sora videos shared so far. Fred Havemeyer, head of U.S. AI and software research at Macquarie, said that Sora’s launch marks a big step forward for the industry.
“Not only can you do longer videos, I understand up to 60 seconds, but also the videos being created look more normal and seem to actually respect physics and the real world more,” Havemeyer said. “You’re not getting as many ‘uncanny valley’ videos or fragments on the video feeds that look ... unnatural.”
While there has been “tremendous progress” in AI-generated video over the last year — including Stable Video Diffusion’s introduction last November — Forrester senior analyst Rowan Curran said such videos have required more “stitching together” for character and scene consistency.
The consistency and length of Sora’s videos, however, represents “new opportunities for creatives to incorporate elements of AI-generated video into more traditional content, and now even to generate full-blown narrative videos from one or a few prompts,” Curran told The Associated Press via email Friday.
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL RISKS?
Although Sora’s abilities have astounded observers since Thursday’s launch, anxiety over ethical and societal implications of AI-generated video uses also remains.
Havemeyer points to the substantial risks in 2024’s potentially fraught election cycle, for example. Having a “potentially magical” way to generate videos that may look and sound realistic presents a number of issues within politics and beyond, he added — pointing to fraud, propaganda and misinformation concerns.
“The negative externalities of generative AI will be a critical topic for debate in 2024,” Havemeyer said. “It’s a substantial issue that every business and every person will need to face this year.”
Tech companies are still calling the shots when it comes to governing AI and its risks as governments around the world work to catch up. In December, the European Union reached a deal on the world’s first comprehensive AI rules , but the act won’t take effect until two years after final approval.
On Thursday, OpenAI said it was taking important safety steps before making Sora widely available.
“We are working with red teamers — domain experts in areas like misinformation, hateful content, and bias — who will be adversarially testing the model,” the company wrote. “We’re also building tools to help detect misleading content such as a detection classifier that can tell when a video was generated by Sora.”
OpenAI’s Vice President of Global Affairs Anna Makanju reiterated this when speaking Friday at the Munich Security Conference , where OpenAI and 19 other technology companies pledged to voluntarily work together to combat AI-generated election deepfakes. She noted the company was releasing Sora “in a manner that is quite cautious.”
At the same time, OpenAI has revealed limited information about how Sora was built. OpenAI’s technical report did not disclose what imagery and video sources were used to train Sora — and the company did not immediately respond to a request for further comment Friday.
The Sora release also arrives amid the backdrop of lawsuits against OpenAI and its business partner Microsoft by some authors and The New York Times over its use of copyrighted works of writing to train ChatGPT. OpenAI pays an undisclosed fee to the AP to license its text news archive.
O’Brien reported from Providence, Rhode Island.
