Asana Rebel Review

Bursting onto the app scene in 2015, Asana Rebel quickly became a frontrunner in fitness apps.

It’s not just popular for its HIIT yoga workouts and wellness tips; the app also integrates healthy recipes to complement your fitness journey.

While it’s clear Asana Rebel has a strong following, this review delves into what it’s like to actually use the app, exploring the highs and lows, to help you decide if it’s the right choice for your health and fitness goals.

In a hurry? Here’s the key takeaway… Although Asana Rebel was once our go-to workout app, it didn’t make our shortlist for the top fitness and workout apps this year . Make sure you check out that list if you’re on the hunt for a new fitness or yoga app as there are some fantastic new apps that we’ve discovered that are well worth trying.

What is Asana Rebel?

For all intent and purposes, Asana Rebel is a yoga app… although it also offers more general fitness workouts, recipes, and healthy habits too. Most workouts can be seen as a bit of a fusion between yoga and bodyweight HIIT movements.

The app aims to help people lose weight, get fit and live a healthy lifestyle… and with over 10 million users worldwide, it’s clear Asana Rebel’s messaging resonates with the masses.

Due to the lack of equipment needed, the workouts are suitable for beginners and those exercising at home.

what is asana rebel reviews

The app has two main sections; a daily plan and a discovery area. The daily plan provides recommendations for the day, with regard to workouts and healthy habits… while the discovery area allows you to find new workouts, challenges and recipes to follow along to.

How Much Does Asana Rebel Cost?

Asana Rebel costs $58.99 for a yearly subscription. They also offer a lot of sales throughout the year, so you may well be presented with lower prices or special offers.

Apple shows the in-app purchases available, which reflect slightly more confusing pricing, often bundling 3 month packages for discounted prices. The list below shows all the available paid plans from the Apple store.

  • Rebel Premium – $58.99
  • Asana Rebel Super – $35.99
  • Rebel Pro 3 Months – $37.99
  • Unlock Everything 12 Months – $58.99
  • Rebel Pro – $15.99
  • Premium 12 Months – $69.99
  • Asana Rebel Pro – $15.99

How Do You Cancel Asana Rebel?

To cancel your Asana Rebel subscription, follow the instructions highlighted in this guide – https://help.asanarebel.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009573399-How-do-I-cancel-my-subscription-

You basically want to visit your subscriptions page within your Android or Apple profile and select Asana Rebel. From there you should see a choice to cancel the subscription.

It’s worth noting, many negative reviews for Asana Rebel relate to the automated renewals… i.e. you’ll be billed until you cancel. Most fitness apps do this as well, but it’s important to remember if you sign up for a free trial or upgrade, as you’ll want to remember to cancel it before it renews.

Also, deleting the app doesn’t automatically cancel your membership! You need to follow the steps outlined above.

What We Like About Asana Rebel

Healthy habits.

The healthy habits feature is a nice and effective way to keep on track of things like drinking enough water. The recommendations are usually quite basic and general, but these sorts of activities will certainly influence your overall health, so the reminders are a good addition.

These healthy habits are one of the ways Asana Rebel tries to expand out beyond just yoga workouts… as a way to become a part of your daily life.

The caveat is that you could also just set reminders or notifications directly on your phone which would have the same effect.

Effective Workouts

The workouts on Asana Rebel are effective… if somewhat basic and repetitive.

There is only so many ways you can move your body without equipment for the more general fitness workouts, so after a while, you may miss workouts that use equipment like dumbbells, barbells, etc.

Nevertheless, if the aim is to encourage you to sweat and get moving, you can’t fault Asana Rebel’s workouts… they will certainly achieve that.

The use of yoga poses to build functional strength, flexibility, balance and burn calories is definitely effective so the programming can certainly help you reach all sorts of fitness goals.

The video below shows the general style of most of the workouts.

For us, it would have been nice to see more variety in areas like strength training. Using concepts like progressive overload (with dumbbells and barbells) is really effective at building strength and losing weight… which many other apps often include too.

Meditations

The app also includes audio meditations which are good. This leans into Asana Rebel’s roots as being more of a yoga app and the importance of mindfulness as part of your fitness routine.

Daily Plan Outlined For You

Although the daily plan was sometimes a bit basic, it was nice having a plan set out for you. It’s easy to get side-tracked with a new workout you found on YouTube, or completely forget to workout at all… so having a daily plan definitely helps with accountability and commitment.

Recipe Content

Asana Rebel has quite a robust recipe section, which can be filtered on your preferences, such as vegan, or gluten-free.

The recipes aren’t anything ground-breaking, but it’s nice inspiration and motivation to eat healthier. Especially if weight loss is your goal, your diet is going to play a vital role in achieving that.

Makes Fitness Easier

A lot of people compare fitness apps (especially paid ones) to free content they can access online… such as YouTube or the very website you’re on now!

Asana Rebel definitely makes fitness easier by providing a structure to follow along to. If you were to follow exactly what it says, you are likely to get fitter… compared to just following a YouTube workout once in a blue moon.

Nevertheless, this can’t be compared to the value of a personal trainer, or online personal training service, which will be much more personalized to your requirements.

what is asana rebel reviews

Intuitive Design

The app design is simple and clear to follow. You can find everything you need and even non-techy users will be able to find workouts, recipes and other content without issue.

What We Don’t Like

Website is difficult to navigate.

This isn’t an issue with the app… but as a company, their website is difficult to navigate. The homepage is just a landing page that takes you to a quiz, but if you have any issues or difficulties, it’s not obvious where you can access that information.

If you do pay for the app, we suggest you bookmark https://help.asanarebel.com/hc/en-us as a page where you can access things like billing support, app onboarding and other useful resources.

what is asana rebel reviews

Confusing Pricing

Asana Rebel’s pricing is also a bit confusing. Like many fitness apps, it follows a freemium model, which means you can sign up and use the app for free… however, the free version is very limited so you’ll really need to upgrade to enjoy all the benefits and features of the app.

The majority of fitness apps probably operate in the same way… however, Asana Rebel don’t just have a paid membership, they have different plans, which feels a bit confusing and unnecessary.

Pricier Than Competitors

So… the elephant in the room. The value of Asana Rebel really has to factor in price, especially compared to other fitness apps.

For us, this is where it starts to feel like we’re comparing apples to oranges. There are numerous fitness apps that are offering serious value for similar prices. We’re talking more advanced technology, live classes, performance tracking and more.

Asana Rebel feels like it’s been left in 2015 and hasn’t adapted to what new apps can offer, and this is ultimately why it doesn’t feature on our shortlist of the top fitness workout apps this year.

Online Reviews Are Concerning

We always want to do our diligence when reviewing any product and service… and it didn’t take us long before we discovered the horror of Asana Rebel’s TrustPilot page. We definitely appreciate brands can pick up negative reviews unfairly and some consumers will drop 1 star reviews without any true justification (and then there’s the whole fake review industry too!).

However, the TrustPilot reviews for Asana Rebel seem genuine and disappointing. Most of them simply refer to the fact that they tried so hard to cancel and still got billed… and couldn’t get a refund.

This really comes down to the fact that services like Asana Rebel will auto-renew, so if you upgraded to the paid plan, it will auto-renew forever, until you cancel. This seems to be the biggest issue people have with the app, which to be fair, is how most fitness apps work too.

Nevertheless, there could certainly be arguments for making such services be more transparent about up and coming billing to ensure you have enough time to cancel (especially if you’re on the annual plan).

Despite the TrustPilot issues, the app actually has pretty good reviews on the app stores, with an average of 4.7/5 on Apple and 4.4/5 on Android. It’s not clear if these reviews come from people using the free or paid version though, so that’s something to bear in mind.

what is asana rebel reviews

No Specialism

Asana Rebel definitely appeals to the masses… but in recent years, there’s been a wave of more specialist fitness apps based on more specific goals or workout preferences. This is likely where the industry is heading, so the more general apps that appeal to everyone, almost feel like they appeal to no-one at the same time.

Like lifting weights to get fit? Alpha Progression is worth looking into…

Love following live yoga classes? Alo Moves is for you…

Love HIIT workouts? Try Freeletics …

Looking for low impact workouts for older adults? You’ve got to try Mighty Health …

Love calisthenics? Berg Movement ‘s got you…

The list goes on.

Asana Rebel Alternatives

As far as alternatives, there are a lot of fitness and yoga apps out there… but we’ve narrowed it down to some of the ones we’ve tried.

what is asana rebel reviews

Access fitness, mindfulness & self-care classes everywhere you go with the award-winning Alo Moves app.

Alo Moves is our top recommended yoga app at the moment. The classes are diverse and they even include live classes for your membership now too.

Alo Moves allows you to really get to know specific instructors, which is something we love. This means once you find an instructor you like, you can easily follow additional workouts from them.

Alo Moves also offers fitness workouts and meditation, as well as skills content which basically helps you perfect advanced yoga and bodyweight poses.

BODi (Formerly Beachbody)

BOD

Huge library of on-demand workouts, nutritional bundles, new mindfulness content.

BODi is like a Netflix for home workouts and exercise plans. It also offers nutritional plans and healthy eating recipes.

From yoga and stretching to HIIT and weightlifting, BODi includes it all.

In March 2023, the company rebranded from Beachbody to BODi (pronounced “body”) to reflect a more inclusive and sustainable approach to fitness.

The workouts and programs have a long history of getting results and are effective at achieving goals like weight loss or building muscle.

Progressive calisthenics training, gamified app experience, unlock new skills, customized training plan to suit your level.

Freeletics is still second-to-none when it comes to HIIT workouts.

The app is easy to use, has great exercise demonstrations and workout flows, and the Coach feature will continually customize the workouts to best suit your goals and past workout performances.

Winner of  “best overall workout app 2024” , 5+ million downloads, and an average app store rating of 4.8/5.

Fitbod is our recommended weight lifting app, but it goes beyond just those just doing strength training. The app also includes a variety of other styles of exercise and their automatic programming means it keeps challenging you.

If you’re serious about hitting your fitness goals, Fitbod is definitely worth trying.

Fitbod have very kindly offered our readers a unique 25% discount code… meaning it comes in at a seriously low price for what you get.

Before and After Using Asana Rebel

We found that we couldn’t notice any specific differences when comparing before and after using Asana Rebel. It was probably effective at maintaining existing fitness levels, but we didn’t necessarily feel pushed to reach new strength, flexibility or cardio fitness.

Having said that, fitness requires a long term approach so it’s hard to evaluate results from 30 days.

Bottom Line

Following Asana Rebel’s workouts, recipes and healthy habits is undoubtedly an effective way to kickstart your fitness regime… however, when you factor in the price, we think there are definitely other fitness apps that provide more value, either in relation to advanced technology or the inclusion of live classes or interactive feedback.

You can always download Asana Rebel for free (or watch some of their workouts on social media) to get a taste for what the app is like and decide whether it is right for you.

Asana Rebel Review: Honest Look After 1 Month of Use

Some links in this article are affiliate links, which means we earn from qualifying purchases . Learn more .

Asana Rebel caught my attention because many of my nutrition clients are interested in taking up yoga and this app appears to be one of the most popular yoga-fitness apps on the market.

After trying the app for a month, certain features impressed me, and certain features were quite disappointing ( I have a pretty high bar since I’ve reviewed a ton of apps ).

Key Takeaways

Honest Review Guarantee from FeastGood: Our testing team purchases each product 100% independently and uses the product for several weeks up to several months before writing a review. Learn more about our review process here .

  • Asana Rebel focuses on multiple aspects of health to encourage users to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
  • The app has many great features, including challenges, meditation, and music. Still, the app’s nutrition content is lacking, and the recipes they provide are exclusively plant-based ( a pro for some, a con for others ).
  • There are plenty of yoga-based workouts to choose from with some being cardio-based, some power-based, and some being yoga flows.
  • If you’re looking for a yoga app, it does the job nicely.  If you’re looking for something that helps with nutrition, look elsewhere (check out our nutrition app page for alternatives ).

Overall Rating: 4.7/5

  • Asana Rebel is a health and fitness app geared towards yoga but it also contains features that encourage a healthier lifestyle.

What Is Asana Rebel?

Asana Rebel is a health and fitness app geared towards yoga but it also contains features that encourage a healthier lifestyle like recipes, challenges, meditation, and sleep music.

The app aims to help you “get in shape and stay in shape” by developing a healthier lifestyle.

How Does Asana Rebel Work?

Asana Rebel works by collecting information about you and your goals and using it to recommend workouts, recipes, meditations, and music to help you create better habits.

Asana Rebel will recommend a workout frequency for you based on the answers you provided during the sign-up process, but you have the ability to adjust and edit your frequency goal based on preferences and availability.

The app uses daily questions to see how you’re feeling that day to guide its recommendations.

It also serves as a daily reminder to engage in the app and encourage adherence.

On your dashboard each day you can expect to see:

  • a workout suggestion (i.e. power flow – 20 min medium intensity),
  • a quiz (i.e. identifying red lentils from a picture),
  • a lunch recipe suggestion (i.e. coconut rice with sesame spinach & fried egg),
  • a challenge suggestion (i.e. 14-day challenge for six-pack abs),
  • a music playlist recommendation (i.e. Desert Dreams – 60 mins with exotic drums and flutes),
  • a tip (i.e. eat 15% less than usual)

What I Liked About Asana Rebel

Pros vs Cons of using Asana Rebel App

1. There Is An Introductory Trailer That Walks You Through Basic Poses

I like that the app offers introductory lessons so that you feel like you have a solid foundation of the movements before having to implement them in a workout program.

The workouts are fast-paced and do not break down how to do each movement so being introduced to popular movements ahead of time is smart.

The introduction program walks you through 3 videos:

  • Foundations of vinyasa
  • Vinyasa flow
  • Foundations of warrior

Asana Rebel introduction program walks you through 3 videos

Without these introductory lessons, I could see those who aren’t familiar with yoga feeling very overwhelmed. This could lead them to quit because they feel like they can’t keep up with all the lingo and the poses.

Although yoga is bodyweight movements and not heavily loaded, your technique is still important because if you’re consistently doing movements in the wrong position then you can easily increase your risk of injury.

Asana Rebel - Introduction program exercise

All in all, I appreciate that Asana takes the time to coach you through proper techniques so that you’re familiar with foundational movements that will be in the workouts. However, this may not be enough technique coaching to please everyone.

2. The App Focuses On More Than One Aspect Of Health

I also like that Asana Rebel is designed to include more than one aspect of health because it shows that the app was designed to help users improve their overall health.

The app’s emphasis on sleep quantity and quality, stress relief using meditation, productivity using music for focus, and nutrition through recipes shows that it was designed to help users improve multiple areas of their life.

As a nutrition coach and personal trainer, I know how important it is to help people improve multiple avenues of their health to help them feel their best.

The only problem with including multiple features in the app is that each feature has to be done really well so that the user gets the most out of each one.

I would say that each feature, besides the nutrition content, has been well thought out to provide users with value ( more on the nutrition content later because I don’t recommend this as a nutrition app).

3. The Workouts Have Lots Of Variation To Keep You From Getting Bored

Another thing I like about Asana Rebel is that it has lots of different workouts to choose from to keep users from getting bored.

Asana Rebel workouts

There are different types of workouts to choose from, with the most common ones focusing on endurance, power, bodyweight strength, and stretching.

There are also many different lengths of workouts with some lasting as little as 4 mins and longer workouts being 26 mins.

I love the variation because some users may only have 4 minutes throughout the day to put towards a workout, while others may have all the time in the world.

However, I will say that if you’re someone who wants to put on muscle mass and get significantly stronger, you will not enjoy this app because there are no weights involved and bodyweight training can only get you so far.

Asana Rebel App

Asana Rebel has many great features including challenges, meditations, and workouts.

What I Didn’t Like About Asana Rebel

1. it doesn’t provide adequate nutritional information.

One thing I didn’t like about Asana Rebel is that it included a nutrition section but failed to provide valuable nutritional information for its users, other than recipes.

I understand that this is primarily a yoga fitness app but by choosing to add a nutritional aspect they’ve set the expectation that they will deliver nutritional information that will help users improve their overall health.

Asana provides daily recipes that look great but apart from these recipes (which are all plant-based) the only nutritional content they have is in their daily tips and quizzes.

The quizzes aren’t very useful because they simply ask you to identify different foods, which likely isn’t going to result in users making meaningful changes to their nutritional habits.  Why would anyone want to do a quiz to identify food?  Seems a bit strange.

The tips are generally just directions to eat less than normal and to avoid animal proteins but they provide zero context about how much is enough to adequately fuel yourself and how much is too little to eat.

I hate this kind of advice because I’m a firm believer that a little bit of information is a dangerous thing.

Some people will take this to the extreme because they don’t have enough information to make smart decisions about how much to eat. Others may not make a change at all because the information provided is unclear and they won’t know how to proceed.

If you’re not going to provide quality nutritional information and advice then you shouldn’t include it at all.

2. The App Doesn’t Provide Enough Modifications

On the exercise side of things, I felt that the app didn’t provide enough movement modifications for those who are new to exercise or perhaps dealing with mobility restrictions.

The app should provide alternative exercises for beginners, intermediates, and advanced exercisers to cater to all fitness levels. This is important considering the app is marketed toward all fitness levels.

Asana Rebel’s workouts appear to be designed for those who are intermediate to advanced based on the movements they select, the speed at which the workouts progress, and the lack of technique coaching during the workouts.

For some, the introductory videos may be enough technique coaching, but others may find it challenging to keep up during workouts without continued technique coaching.

Although I personally did not struggle to keep up with the movements, I know that some of my clients would struggle and become frustrated and likely quit using the app.

3. It Doesn’t Facilitate Proper Rest & Recovery

Lastly, another thing I didn’t like about the workouts was that the app doesn’t take into account the workouts that you’ve done to ensure you’re working out multiple muscle groups throughout the week.

The app does ask you how you’re feeling each day (happy, energized, relaxed, powerful, mindful) and makes recommendations based on your answer but it doesn’t seem to alternate muscle groups based on what you’ve done previously.

This is important because if you’re training legs over and over then your muscles will have a hard time recovering and your other muscle groups will lack attention and lag behind.

Most beginners using the app won’t know how often to switch muscle groups or even know which exercises target which muscle groups.

Key Features

The key features of Asana Rebel are:

Yoga-Based Workouts To Improve Fitness

The main feature of Asana Rebel is the yoga-based fitness classes that are built into the app. These classes are perfect for those who want to work out at home and those who just want to be told what to do.

These workout videos have an instructor who walks you through the workout and performs it along with you. With these workout videos, you get audio and visual cues for how to perform the exercises.

Asana Rebel - exercises

You also have the ability to pause these workout videos as you need to so that you don’t have to worry about falling behind.

Most workouts available in the app include yoga-based movements but the way they are included in the video will depend on which style of workout you select.

The most common styles are:

  • Power-based workouts (i.e. HIIT)
  • Cardio-based workouts
  • Bodyweight strengthening
  • Yoga Flows

Challenges To Keep Users Motivated

Asana Rebel also provides challenges that you can choose from to keep you motivated to work out and perhaps to try something new.

what is asana rebel reviews

The current challenges are:

  • 21-Day Challenge For Weight Loss
  • 14-Day Challenge For Six-Pack Abs
  • 7-Day Challenge For Beach Body
  • 14-Day New Year’s Challenge
  • 28-Day Yoga Love Challenge

The challenges entail committing to however many days in a row of workouts that are geared toward the challenge goal.

Asana Rebel - pick goals

For example, the yoga challenge will have you doing 28 days in a row of yoga classes and the six-pack abs challenge will entail 14 days of core workouts.

The challenges are centered around workouts and don’t appear to include other features like meditation or recipe suggestions. That said, these features will appear on your dashboard on a daily basis anyway.

Sleep Music & Meditation For Better Sleep Health

Asana Rebel also provides audio tracks to help encourage better sleep. You can choose between sleep music or even sleep meditation, spending on your personal preference.

Asana Rebel sleep Music & meditation

Sleep music playlists generally last 60 minutes and come in a variety of sounds, such as:

  • Dreamy Forest
  • Rain In The City
  • And much more

Sleep meditations generally last up to 10 minutes and are guided meditations where someone talks you through a relaxing meditation to help you fall asleep.

The current selection of sleep meditations includes:

  • Drifting To Sleep
  • Calming The Body
  • Up In The Middle Of The Night
  • Calming The Mind
  • Winding Down The Day

Recipes For Meal Inspiration

Asana Rebel has a nutrition section as well which is made up entirely of recipes to inspire users to try new recipes that focus on using healthier ingredients.

Asana Rebel - nutrition recipes

There are currently 42 different recipes to choose from with most of the recipes being lunch or supper recipes and a few breakfast and smoothie recipes in the mix as well.

This may seem like a  lot of recipes at first, but if you’re using the app consistently it won’t take long to work your way through these recipes.

I wasn’t sure how often they updated these recipes so I reached out to their customer service team to ask how often new recipes are uploaded, but I received no response.

The recipes look delicious and are made with nutrient-dense ingredients; however, I was disappointed that every single recipe is vegetarian or vegan, there are no recipes that contain meat.

The app is not marketed as a vegetarian app so I was surprised to find that they don’t offer any options with animal-based proteins.

Guided Meditation For Stress Relief And Mindfulness

Another cornerstone of the Asana Rebel app is their meditation section where users can choose between different collections of meditations to increase productivity, to practice stress relief and mindfulness, and to relax.

what is asana rebel reviews

There are many guided meditations to choose from varying in lengths and intentions, so I’m positive that there is something here for everyone.

If you want a light-hearted meditation to simply start the day on the right foot, there’s a playlist for that. If you’re angry and you need a few minutes to compose yourself, there’s also a playlist for that.

I feel like Asana Rebel’s meditation section was really well executed and I would honestly use the app just for this feature alone, and I’m someone who hadn’t meditated before.

Music Playlists Designed To Improve Focus

Lastly, Asana Rebel has a music section that provides 60 minute playlists designed to help improve your focus and increase productivity.

Asana Rebel - music for focus

As someone who needs background noise to work, I appreciate their “music for focus” section. I just wish there were more options to choose from because I’m used to Spotify which has so many options.

Currently there are 5 playlists to choose from, including:

  • Chill Beats
  • Alpha Waves
  • Desert Dreams
  • Binaural Sounds
  • Rainy City Mixtape

I like the playlists they have to offer but I can see myself wanting to switch it up after a while, and it’s unclear how often they switch things up.

What Other Customers Think

Asana Rebel app user experience

After using Asana Rebel for a month, I have drawn my own conclusions about the app but I was curious how other users felt about their experience with the app, particularly those who have just begun their health and fitness journey.

According to Google Play, the app has an impressive 4.7/5 stars from 55,000 reviews and over 5 million downloads . I’m surprised the app is rated as highly as it is considering the number of reviews it has.

What’s interesting about the reviews is that although the app has 4.7 stars, almost every review from 2022 is negative . Perhaps Asana had better reviews when the app first came out, but lately, the reviews for the app haven’t been very good.

Some common themes among recent reviews are that the app lacks modifications for those who are injured, less fit, or less mobile. Many users found the movements challenging and with no modifications provided they weren’t able to get a quality workout.

Reviewers also mentioned that the pace of the workouts was too fast for them to follow and that adequate instruction wasn’t given to coach them on the proper technique.

I agree that technique is not a focus during the workouts, which is why I think it was smart to include instructional videos when you first join. However, it appears that users weren’t satisfied with those videos in place of technical instructions throughout the workouts.

Lastly, there were complaints about the lack of nutritional features considering many other fitness apps include food logging and progress trackers (i.e. weight and measurement tracking).

The only positive reviews were from users who were just happy to have different workouts to do everyday and daily reminders to keep them motivated to make their fitness a priority.

Overall, it seems that users are becoming frustrated that the app doesn’t have enough modifications for beginners, technique emphasis, or nutritional capabilities.

How Much Does Asana Rebel Cost?

Asana Rebel is available for free with reduced capabilities; however, to take advantage of everything Asana Rebel has to offer you’ll have to pay for the Premium Version of the app.

There are two payment plans available for the premium version of the app:

  • Monthly payments: $9.99 USD
  • Yearly payments: $35.99 USD ($2.99/month)

Unfortunately, there is no free trial for the premium version, so if you want to test out the premium features you’ll have to sign up for their monthly payment plan.

If you know that you want to use this app long-term then it’s much more cost-effective to sign up for the year.

Is Asana Rebel Premium Worth It?

If you’re going to use Asana Rebel then you will need to upgrade to premium because the free version of the app provides you with limited access to all of its features.

If you’re only using the free version you will get tired of doing the same things over and over with little to no variation in workouts, recipes, meditations, and challenges.

For this reason, I think you need to upgrade to premium to get the most out of this app if you’re going to use it long-term.

Who Should Use Asana Rebel?

  • Those who enjoy or are interested in yoga
  • Those who want to engage in guided meditation
  • Those who like background music to help them focus
  • Those who want daily reminders to keep up them accountable

Who Should NOT Use Asana Rebel

  • Those who may require modifications to simplify movements
  • Those who require more detailed instructions and technique cues
  • Those who want to track their food intake or progress
  • Those who aren’t vegetarian or vegan
  • Those who don’t enjoy yoga or meditation

Asana Rebel Alternatives

I’ve tested 18+ nutrition apps (click to check out the full list). Based on my experience, here are some top 2 alternatives:

Alo Moves

One of the best alternatives to Asana Rebel for those who are mainly interested in fitness, yoga, and meditation is Alo Moves.

Alo Moves is a fitness app that combines yoga, pilates, and strength workouts to help users take their fitness to a new level. The app also offers meditation classes to help users practice mindfulness.

The app has over 100K downloads in the app store and 4.3 stars, so Alo Moves is an app that is worth trying out.

BetterMe

Another alternative for Asana Rebel is the BetterMe app which allows you to track your nutrition in their food logger and has plenty of workouts to choose from as well.

The BetterMe app is a great option for those who want to log their intake rather than just get access to recipes. The app serves as a “built-in personal trainer, nutrition coach, and health coach”.

I tried Asana Rebel, An honest review

Since the pandemic there has been a lot of online programs for yoga. And it is great as we don’t always find the time to go to our favourite yoga studio. But how to find your way through all of these different apps and websites?

Well, I’ve tried a couple of them for you, so you don’t have to go through the process of cancelling your subscription in time before your card gets charged.

I’d also like to tell that these reviews are affiliate free. Therefore, there is absolutely no gain for me from your clicks!

Asana Rebel Review

For the past two weeks now I’ve been checking out Asana Rebel to see if it was something for me. And long story short, it wasn’t for me and I did cancel my subscription. However, it might be something for you, so keep on reading if you are interested in getting a subscription!

The pros of Asana Rebel

Maybe ignore the part where I said it wasn’t something for me, I don’t want to influence you from the beginning on already. It is your choice and my pros and cons might be different for you!

That said. What I felt was amazing about the app, it is a complete and stylish app. You won’t only get exercises, every day there is a little quiz (although it sometimes felt a bit childish, with information that wasn´t new to me at all), there are meditations, recipes and music!

So what I really liked about it, is that it’s a complete program and not just only one or the other. You get everything included. There´s nothing worse than always having a paywall to get an upgrade of some kind. That´s not the case here, you really do get what you see!

The workouts were nice, although I will talk about them later a bit more as, for me, they had a big con as well. But not gonna spoil the fun now already!

I really liked the meditations, they were really clear and relaxing. So it was an amazing way to end my day (I specifically used them before going to bed).

What I also enjoyed a lot is that the program changes during the day. So they pick for you some great morning sessions, meditations and recipes. They change as your day progresses.

Those were the pros, let’s have a look at the cons now.

The cons of asana rebel

I did like the program a lot, but there were a couple of dealbreakers for me. So, again, these are a bit personal, so they might not bother you too much!

Then, the exercises. I hoped it would’ve all been about yoga, but that wasn’t always the case. I have to be honest that I have a few mixed feelings about it. It was nice to exercise a bit and not just do yoga, but I looked forward to deepening my yoga practice. So, maybe not completely a con, but also not a pro either.

And to continue on that. Sometimes I felt the cues during the practice were a bit lacking. I’m a yoga teacher myself and sometimes I was completely stretching wrongly as they didn’t give any instructions on the feet. I noticed it because I was watching on a big screen, but when watching a smaller screen, I wouldn’t know how you’d be able to notice that.

And then lastly there was another thing that I didn’t completely enjoy. Very often I was already laying down in Savasana when my phone almost started yelling: “You are almost done with your workout, would you like to continue?” This was really startling to me as I didn’t want one of their options to continue, I just wanted to relax in Savasana. Again, something little for someone else probably, but a bit of a dealbreaker to me.

I’d rather have lengthier videos than have a couple of times smaller videos with a rather loud voice in between sessions. I could be persuaded though if that voice would be just a little bit more meditative.

How does Asana rebel score?

what is asana rebel reviews

I paid 35,99 euros for my subscription, but it was at a 50% discount. For this price it’s absolutely amazing and totally worth it! Although, at full price, there are better programs for just a little bit extra.

As mentioned before, there were really got things about Asana Rebel. The instructors look really nice and they are good at what they do. There’s a good variation. Although I wonder how often they add new stuff.

As mentioned before the app itself is quite nice. However, I’d like to have a web version as well for when I’d like to put it on a bigger screen. On a phone the screen will be quite small, so my suggestion would be to watch at least on a tablet. If they improve their website a little bit more they’ll be getting an extra star.

Hi, I have heard of Asana Rebel but have not actually tried it. From what I’ve seen of it it looks good but however, but I am like you not a fan of mobile apps for things like this. It seems silly that they don’t have a desktop version. Do you actually have to hold your phone whilst doing yoga? that is a dealbreaker for me too but shame as training looks really good.

' src=

Well, you don’t have to hold onto your phone of course, but you’ll have to get a stand or something (like a tripod) to make it easier for you to watch. If you have a smart tv or other device you can stream it onto your television. But as you mention, to me this was also a bit of a dealbreaker, although the classes were amazing.

Hi Virendra, kind of hard to decide for me. I looked at Inner Dimension TV and Asana. Do you know Gaia.TV I was looking at that because of some of their other content. Quite Interested in UFOs and Paranormal etc. But yes I see they have other content like Yoga exercises, meditation and all the spiritual stuff like LoA. It’s definitely much cheaper short term is 140 one time or is this subscription?

Thanks a lot for your comment. I actually also wrote an article about Gaia TV where I tell you all about it! I hope you´ll find an app matching for your needs!

Asana Rebel Review: Is This the Fitness App for You?

Asana Rebel Review

The Asana Rebel app was founded in Berlin in 2015, and carves out a niche in the popular yoga sector. It is centered on helping you make positive lifestyle changes through yoga, meditation, and healthy eating choices.

A fitness app that has an impressive and continually growing following, we needed to see for ourselves what made Asana Rebel so unique. So, we downloaded it and gave it a try.

In this review, we take you through the ins and outs of Asana Rebel and all it has to offer.

Does Asana Rebel Have a Trial Period?

Navigating the app, asana rebel helps focus, the holistic approach, it’s pricey, what is asana rebel.

Asana Rebel is essentially a yoga app combined with other practices such as meditation and mindful eating. It gently nudges the user into a more healthy lifestyle.

You will find, as we did, that the concept of mindfulness that comes with yoga is very much present. However, unlike most other yoga-based applications, the spirituality aspect is absent. This makes it something everyone can enjoy.

What this is not is another fitness app that doggedly keeps you counting calories, balancing macros, following rigorous workout schedules, and pushing you towards a target weight. Unfortunately, if that’s what you’re looking for, Asana Rebel may not be for you.

Asana Rebel is compatible with most versions of Android and iOS. Better still, you can use it on various devices, too. From your Windows or Mac PC, tablet, iPad, smartphone, and even your Apple Watch or Apple TV. This versatility makes the app easy to use anywhere, any time. You can always stay on top of your fitness routine.

How Much Does Asana Rebel Cost?

While Asana Rebel is free to download, using all the app features once it is installed requires you to pay a subscription fee.

You have the choice of a monthly or annual fee. So, you can pick which best suits your current budget.

At the time of our review, the subscription fees were:

  • Yearly Subscription – $58.99
  • Monthly Subscription – $26.49

Unfortunately, the app no longer offers a trial period. But you can cancel your subscription at any time. And if you find that the app really isn’t for you, they offer a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Note that once the trial period expires, Asana Rebel will automatically renew your account and charge you for the next billing period. So make sure you follow their cancellation guide carefully to avoid unwanted transactions in your credit card bill!

And luckily, paying is straightforward too. Asana Rebel accepts most major credit card providers, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Using the Asana Rebel App

Asana Rebel App - Get Started

The sign-in process (and it is a process – you’ll see why) requires a few steps on your part to get things going.

Unlike most apps, you don’t just need to create a username and password. You also need to answer a few pertinent, if not personal, questions.

But there is a good reason for this. Asana Rebel uses the information you input here to custom create a fitness plan just for you. So keeping that in mind, try to be as honest with your answers here to ensure you get the best out of the app.

Getting Started

Asana Rebel will ask you to “ Get Started .” Once you have clicked this option, the app will guide you through the various questions that include:

  • When is your birthday?
  • What is your height?
  • What is your current weight?
  • What is your goal weight?

What is your activity level?

Next it asks for your activity level. You have a few choices to pick from:

  • I almost never work out
  • I work out once a week
  • I work out 2 times a week
  • I work out 3 or 4 times a week
  • I work out five times a week or more

What is your fitness level?

If you’re signing in on your computer, the app may ask instead what your fitness level is, and here you have the option of choosing:

  • Intermediate

What is your diet preference?

Next, the app will ask what your dietary preference is, again offering a selection of options from which to choose:

  • No preference (you would select this option if you have no dietary restrictions)
  • Vegetarian (Keep in mind this option provides recipes that contain dairy and eggs)
  • Vegan (This choice is free from any animal products and by-products)
  • Keto (low carb) (This is a diet higher in protein and fats and curbs sugar and carb intake)
  • Other (If you’re lactose intolerant or you perhaps are a pescatarian, you may want to choose this option)

What are you goals?

Finally, the app will ask you to pick your goals from a series of options. You can select a minimum of three:

  • Build healthy habits
  • Sleep better
  • Exercise more effectively
  • Lose weight
  • More energy every day
  • Tight and toned body

Asana Rebel App- Goals

Once the sign-in process is complete, the app leads you to a page that tells you it is creating a custom fitness plan and a choice will need to be made as to which which subscription plan you wanted.

The layout of the Asana Rebel app is relatively straightforward. The app comes with few frills and fuss, which we enjoyed.

On the home screen, you will find three tabs:

Each tab offers its own functions that make using the app easy and enjoyable. Let’s take a look at what you can expect to find on each.

According to your answers when signing in, Asana Rebel will have created a custom plan for you. You can find your daily program on the “Today” tab.

This custom program includes a list of items you need to fulfill throughout the day. It is divided into three sections: morning, daytime, and evening. Some of the tasks are more rigorous. For example, exercising or taking a daily quiz. In contrast, others are simple reminders that put you on the path to healthier living. This includes things like drinking water or listening to music to help you focus.

Here, the app also reminds you about getting sufficient sleep each night (at least eight hours). And, it reminds you to get in a before-bed meditation session. Even better, it offers some sleep music to help lull you into dreamland.

In essence, the “Today” tab is where you organize your daily routine to help get you on the path to a happier, more mindful, fitness-orientated lifestyle.

Explore Tab

While Asana Rebel provides you with a customized routine, that doesn’t mean you can’t explore other options available within the app and either add them to your plan or swap them around.

Under the “Explore” function, you will find a host of offerings to peruse and try. Let’s look at some of the categories for you to explore and take part in.

The Asana Rebel Workout Options

Asana Yoga

The workouts in the app feature a fusion of yoga that blends with some cardio and strengthening and toning exercises. The only equipment you’ll need is a yoga mat and a towel. And in some instances, yoga blocks (if you don’t have these, books work well too).

The app divides these fitness sessions into a few categories. This makes it easier to navigate these numerous workout options:

  • Get in shape
  • Flexibility and mobility
  • Balance and focus
  • Breathe and relax
  • Low, medium, and high intensity

You can choose the workout according to what you want to gain from it – from a gentle flow to more of an intensive strengthening session. Alternatively, you can select your activity according to your fitness level, and even by the amount of time you have to spare for your yoga workout.

Exercises range from four minutes for the shortest activity to over 40 minutes for those looking for a slightly more intensive session. However, on average, the workouts are typically around 20 minutes.

Users Can Pick Workouts

The ability for users to pick workouts that suit the time they have available makes it clear that the developers have taken into account the various schedules and constraints people may have. With life being as busy as it is these days, being able to squeeze in a quick routine makes getting into the fitness lifestyle that much easier.

Another way this versatility shines is that not everyone begins at the same fitness level. Beginners may not have built up the endurance yet to power through a 40 minute HIIT workout. Starting with a more manageable exercise routine makes us feel as though we have achieved something. And, it encourages us to continue the fitness journey.

Conversely, an overly intense session may leave newbies feeling like a failure. Chances are they won’t try it again – we certainly wouldn’t. Asana Rebel has found the perfect balance for allowing users to feel confident while still leaving you feeling as though you have gotten in a good sesh.

Yoga Smooth Transitions

What you can expect from the workouts themselves is this – there are no breaks between each different movement as you would find in pilates or aerobics or even CrossFit .

Yoga focuses on the smooth transition from one position to another. Even in the cardio-based options. Each movement compliments the one that follows. This makes the transition easy to work through.

These sessions feature a visual aid in the form of an instructor that goes through the motions with you. A voiceover explains the movements and positions, guiding you calmly as you go through the workout. The tranquil music makes it simpler to focus on your breathing and the activity you are doing.

Some of the workouts you can expect to see are:

A Core Control Workshop – This is a snappy five-minute session that focuses on strengthening your core muscles, leaving you with a tighter, more toned mid-section. Hello, abs!

Mega Metabolism Booster – If you’re on a weight loss journey, this one is for you. In just five minutes, this exercise routine will have you melting away the fat and burning calories like never before. If you want to sweat it out, this is an excellent option.

Activity Tab

The final of the three primary tabs on the app is the “Activity” tab. By tapping on this tab, you navigate to the tracking hub of the app. Here, you will find a log of your activity that allows you to see your progress over time.

Asana Rebel provides you with a view of your active streak, that is, how many days you have used the app consecutively.

You are also provided a calendar that marks the days you were active and the activity you engaged in each day. This function is great to see how you have improved, where you faced challenges, and it allows you to see areas that you could improve on.

The app provides you with a complete calculation that allows you to see in total how many minutes or hours of meditation, exercise, focus (through music) you have done over a period.

You can choose a time frame that ranges from a week, a month, or even over 90-days to see how you have progressed and how much more work you have put in as time has passed.

Asana Rebel shows us our progress, builds confidence, and makes it easy to quantify our results by allowing us to see these metrics.

All of these metrics can also be shared with friends.

Asana Rebel Features

Asana rebel challenges.

Asana Rebel Challenges

Asana Rebel offers unique challenges that target different goals and usually span a month-long period. This includes a 30-day Transformation Challenge targeting the entire body; a Spring into March Challenge for strengthening and toning; and a Six-Pack Challenge for abs of steel.

Each of these routines come with a fully-planned calendar. It shows you in advance what exercises you’ll need to do and the duration of the session for each day.

For example, Monday may entail a 26-minute power HIIT workout , Tuesday may feature an 11-minute Vinyasa yoga flow, and Wednesday, you can chill out because it’s a rest day.

Asana Rebel Promotes Sleep

Sleep Soundly With Asana Rebel

The need for a decent sleep is something that Asana Rebel takes to the next level.

While most fitness apps allow you to track or log your sleep each night, this app offers a unique approach by providing soothing sounds that you can play to lull you into slumber.

You can choose from a long list of “sleep music” designed to calm the mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep. There are even options for white and pink noise, which helps block out other surrounding sounds. If your partner snores, this one’s for you.

These music clips vary in length. Each offers unique tones and sounds so you can find the ones that work best for you. When you find a piece of music that does the job, you can “like” it and add it to your list of favorites, so it is easier to find next time.

Playing these sounds to help you fall asleep or transition more smoothly from one phase to the next during your sleep cycle makes it easier to get a good night’s rest. So, you wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

Asana Rebel’s Fun Daily Quizzes

One of the ways Asana Rebel gently nudges users towards a more mindful and knowledgeable approach towards fitness is through daily quizzes.

These quizzes educate you in a fun way, making it simple to learn scientific facts about health, nutrition, and exercise. These facts are then easily applied to your daily life without seeming like a drag – a testament to Asana Rebel’s holistic approach.

The app includes these quizzes as part of your custom daily plan, marking them off as tasks that need completing.

Some of the questions you can expect include things such as: “Does intermittent fasting make you lose muscle?” You then have the option to select “Yes,” or “No.”

The information taught through these quizzes is astounding and helps you focus on staying healthy, mentally and physically.

Nutrition – Healthy Eating the Asana Rebel Way

Healthy Eating the Asana Rebel Way

Eating correctly is just as important as getting a good night’s rest and daily exercise. A balanced diet made up of nutritious meals is the best way to stay strong and healthy. Eating the right foods can also help you lose weight or maintain your goal weight once you’ve reached it.

Most fitness apps allow you to input meals you have consumed throughout the day, making tracking your macros and counting calories relatively straightforward.

Asana Rebel offers a different approach. It features a nutrition section that comes packed full of heath-based recipes that guide you on how to make delicious meals that fall within your daily caloric scale.

Each recipe comes complete with the time it takes to make the meal, the ingredients you’ll need, a quick blurb on the taste sensations you can expect to enjoy with the dish, and the calorie count for that specific recipe.

It is important to note here that these recipes do not provide a breakdown of the macronutrients found in each of them, that is, the percentage of fat, protein, and carbohydrates each dish contains. If this is something you find important, especially if you’re on a weight-loss journey, this may not be the app for you.

What stood out to us about these recipes is that they not only teach you how to whip up a healthy meal quickly but that eating healthy doesn’t need to be boring, bland, or taste terrible.

Asana Nutrition Recipes

Each dish is delectable and makes it much simpler to get in the nutrition you need without feeling as though you’re starving yourself. This furthers Asana Rebel’s holistic approach by showing you a positive and nutritional way to eat, changing your lifestyle for the better.

Unfortunately, the carb and calorie counting that goes on with most other apps is not sustainable. The result may be that you lose the weight faster, but chances are you’ll pick it all back up again because eating cucumber and umpteen celery sticks is not sustainable over long periods.

Through learning how to cook sumptuous meals that are still healthy and packed with all the nutrients and vitamins you need, Asana Rebel teaches you how to create a wellness lifestyle that is easy to maintain.

Some of the delicious recipes you can look forward to here include fig and melon salad, cauliflower soup with pumpkin seeds and mint pesto, and black bean and sweet potato stew.

Your Dietary Preference

If you remember, back at the beginning, when you signed in, the app asked about your dietary preferences. The app then uses your choice here to provide you with recipes that suit your meal requirements. So, for example, if you chose “vegan,” you won’t be offered a recipe for a smoked chicken wrap.

Another exciting feature is that you can also filter the recipes according to your needs. For example, you can search for anti-inflammatory foods, easily digestible meals, low-calorie dishes, meals that improve metabolism, and even those that boost mental performance.

While we are more used to the calorie and macros-driven way of fitness and health, this more gentle approach to food really left us impressed. It offers a subtle nudge toward forming a more natural and healthy relationship with food, even when attempting to lose weight, creating a more positive and longer-lasting experience with food and meals.

Asana Rebel Offers Guided Meditation Sessions

Asana Rebel offers a series of guided meditations that walk you through the process, encouraging you to focus on your breathing and reach deeper within yourself to achieve the calm you need.

These meditation sessions come in varying durations. Some are around five minutes, others are up to 15 minutes, allowing you to choose the session that best suits the time you have available. This is perfect for those who have busy lives and only a few minutes to get a meditation session in.

The meditations are not spiritually based, making them applicable for people from all walks of life. Instead, they are centered on mindfulness, focus, and calm.

They help you tackle things like mindful eating, deep relaxation, improving sleep, and even anger management.

Asana Rebel Music and Meditation

As you peruse the menu on the “Exploration” page, you will also find an option for “Music for Focus”. Here, Asana Rebel offers a selection of music designed to help you focus.

These music clips feature binaural beats. Binaural beats are two different tones played simultaneously, one in each ear. When your brain picks up on the two frequencies you’re listening to, it compensates by creating a third tone that you can then hear. It is this tone that is the actual binaural beat.

When you listen to binaural beats over a period, they synchronize with your brain waves, allowing you to focus more readily or fall into a deep and restful sleep.

In addition to these binaural beats, Asana Rebel includes other music options such as those designed to soothe and others that stimulate concentration and productivity. You can even find pink or white noise designed to help you sleep.

These music selections range from just a few minutes to over 40 minutes in length. An example of some of the options includes the app’s “Chill Beats,” a blend of jazz, hip hop, and instrumental music designed to help you focus.

By offering music to help you achieve better results in areas of your life not directly related to fitness, Asana Rebel’s holistic approach becomes even more evident.

Asana Rebel Review: Pros

It’s easy to use.

This app takes user experience to the next level. It is well-thought-out and offers a design that is stylish and elegant. The quality of the imagery and the overall feel are top-quality. The attention to detail is spot-on. The text is easy to read and is without fuss.

The app is simple to navigate – everything is well mapped out and easy to find.

Asana Rebel Exceptional Workout Videos

Exceptional Workout Videos

There really is nothing worse than a fitness app with workout videos that are pixellated, grainy, poorly shot, or that have unbalanced sound. The videos on Asana Rebel are of the highest quality. They are well-filmed and feature crystal clear voiceover instructions that make them simple to follow. The sound quality is just as good, so you don’t have to worry about adjusting your volume every few minutes.

Frequent Updates

Asana Rebel uploads new workout sessions weekly, so there is always something new to try and challenge yourself with. This also helps you change up old routines and prevents you from getting too much into your comfort zone.

Asana Rebel has included notifications that come up throughout the day to remind you gently to have that glass of water, take ten minutes to stretch out, or have a short five-minute listen to some calming music.

Compatibility

Asana Rebel is compatible with just about any device and is made for both iOS and Android.

You can load it on your Apple Watch, Apple TV, Android tablet, or your Samsung smartphone.

This versatility makes it easy to get your workouts done. Perhaps the exercises are easier to do when you’re playing them on the TV, but those reminders to drink water are pretty handy coming through your watch.

No Equipment Needed

Have you ever gotten through a workout video, and halfway through, the instructor calls for you to whip out your kettlebells or medicine ball? And you find yourself flopping in frustration because not only do you not have that equipment, but you now also need to find a new video and start your workout from scratch.

A shining aspect of this app is that it does not require you to purchase a single piece of equipment, with the exception of a yoga mat.

Asana Rebel uses exercises that teach you how to use your body weight to build strength, lean muscle, and tone your body. Not needing to shell out money for equipment is a great touch.

While less goal-driven, Asana Rebel guides you towards a healthier lifestyle by actioning small changes and implementations in your day-to-day life that benefit you in all areas.

Instead of focusing just on weight loss, Asana Rebel gives you the tools to create a stronger, leaner body, follow nutritional and healthy eating habits, have better mindfulness, focus, and rest.

The holistic approach makes it easy to incorporate these wellness-centered changes in all areas of your life, making sticking to these changes simple and fun.

Asana Rebel Review: Cons

Lacks specific goal setting.

While we are all for the holistic approach and find it quite refreshing, we wish there was an option to set a specific goal within the app. There is no availability to set a goal weight, for example, over a period of time.

While the app requires a little trust – the custom plan it designs for you is based on your chosen goal weight when signing in. If you’re after hard and fast results to achieve a specific target, this is not the app for you.

The Workouts Need Work

If you’re new to yoga or fitness routines in general, chances are you’ll need a little guidance. Things like how to form the poses, correct technique, and what the next move is before you need to do it.

Unfortunately, Asana Rebel makes the workouts harder than they need to be, especially for beginners. There is no break between movements or poses. You find yourself needing to watch the screen continually to see that you’re getting it right. And just as you do, it’s time for the following position.

A breakdown of the sequence and each pose before the video begins would be more straightforward. Even if just in the “beginner” videos.

Wi-Fi and Buffering Blues

Unfortunately, the Asana Rebel app does not work without Wi-Fi. Attempting to use your mobile data will just leave you frustrated, so don’t even try. You need to be connected to the internet for the app to function correctly.

Now, generally, this isn’t much of an issue as these days there is Wi-Fi everywhere. It is more of an annoyance than anything. Where the problem sets in is the loading of the videos. These tend to take some time to buffer and can slow down the progress of your workout. Particularly, if they begin buffering mid-video.

It Takes Up Space

If you have a device that is low on storage capacity, then look out. Asana Rebel is a relatively large app and takes up a fair amount of storage space, around 195 MB to be precise. While this isn’t surprising, considering the hours of video and music data it brings with it, it is worth noting.

The less storage capacity you have on your device, the slower the apps on it will run. So, if you’re battling with in-app videos that take a while to load, you may need to transfer some of your personal videos and photos off of your device.

Finally, let’s look at the price. Because there are so many fitness apps saturating the market. Many of them are free or low in cost. This makes the monthly or annual subscription fee of Asana Rebel look a little inflated.

Ultimately it comes down to whether the cost fits within your budget and whether the app offers what you need.

Who Will Benefit the Most From This App

If you’re not a fan of yoga, or you’d prefer an app that allows you to carefully input, track, and monitor every minute detail of your journey, then this is not the app for you.

But, if you are looking for an app that gently eases you into a healthier lifestyle and teaches you positive habits in the process, then you may want to give it a try.

In a Nutshell

This well-developed and impressively designed app offers a new take on the fitness journey. It is a more mindful approach that is less goal-oriented. And, it is more aligned with creating a healthy lifestyle that is simple to maintain. Asana Rebel offers an entirely new experience.

Asana Rebel offers the following:

  • Unique yoga-based workouts to tone, strengthen, build lean muscle, and lose weight.
  • Teaches healthy physical and mental health practices through mindfulness, meditation, quizzes, and music.
  • Provides a selection of recipes that educate you on forming a positive relationship with food. This is through showing you how to prepare nutritional meals that also taste great.
  • Asana Rebel also teaches you how to work out and build muscle tone and strength using your own body weight. This negates the need for expensive equipment.

The unique approach to wellness also makes it much simpler to implement the minor changes required to achieve a healthier way forward. If you battle with change or sticking to a plan, this may just be the app you need.

Amazing App

This is a truly transformational and amazing app! Not only does it provide exceptional yoga inspired workouts that you can tailor to your physical, mental and time related needs, but it also provides phenomenal tips and tools to empower you to lead a more healthy lifestyle. I was very skeptical initially; I honestly didn’t think that an app on my tiny phone screen could provide the studio quality yoga experience I was accustom to, but it has far exceeded my expectations. After reading hundreds of reviews I took the plunge and have LOVED my experience. Every day I can choose a new workout or combination of workouts to meet my specific needs and I can do it at my convenience. The additional features like the meditations, relaxation music and healthy recipes make this a well rounded app that help you focus on your overall health throughout the day. I also love the ability to set reminders or tailor a daily plan to help you stay on track and committed . Now that I’m incorporating the many components of Asana Rebel into my daily routine, I feel stronger and more in alignment both physically and mentally, which in turn is having a positive impact in many other areas of my life! I highly recommend this app!

Developer Response ,

So great to hear you like the app. Keep up the good work! You can do this! 😀👌

Was once in love

I used to rave about this app to EVERYONE I know, now... not at all. The last 6 months with this app had been difficult to say the least. There have been a lot of technical and development issues, aka having to restart the app EVERYDAY bc it would freeze, workouts “disappearing” and many more. The most disappointing thing about this app now is that the “coach” feature is gone. THE REASON I had purchased this app. I wanted to pick a goal style program aka “fat burn” or “Bikini body” and just have to open up my app and click the days workout because it was a 4-6 week guided program. I enjoy yoga but i don’t have a degree or certification in the best way to go about my program, that’s why I purchased the app and now that feature is GONE. Asana claims that they changed the formatting so people could be “free and flexible” with their work out, that’s fine and dandy for those people, but what about us over here who do not want it that way?! Why does it have to be one OR the other? Why can’t you integrate both old and new programs into one app? “Coaches programs” AND being able to be “free and flexible” with doing all of your own choosing? All in all this was once a great app so that’s why I didn’t go below a 3, but I am just so disappointed with the changes they made and I of course have the 1 year subscribe, soo. The changes they’ve made do not make working out easier, now it takes a pep talk to get myself motivated, when I used to be excited
Hi Jen1500, Thank you for your sincere feedback. We have passed your comments on to our product team. You can still find the workouts from the previous version in the Past Workouts folder, in the settings of the app. The Asana Rebel Team

Great workouts but the process is frustrating

I like the workouts a lot. I sweat. I’m losing fat and I’m getting stronger. But the process of getting an hours workout is frustrating. Each workout is 10 minutes plus warm up and cool down. I want 45 minutes of workout with one warmup and one cool down. So I can “add a workout” before the cool down starts and the app does the right thing (skips cool down and the next warmup). But what it doesn’t do well is report to my Apple activity. When I “add a workout”, and I finish doing 50-60 minutes, the app only reports one workout of 21-29 minutes (the typical warmup+workout+cool down), not the entire time I worked out. So to calculate the workout correctly on my phone, I have to skip through the cool down and skip sivasana and skip the next warmup. It’s too much downtime between workouts. And when I do that, it actually adds too much one because even though I skipped 10-15 minutes, the “whole workout” is considered to be 21-29 minutes (not just the additional 10 I actually worked out in the second and third sets). I would really like to build my own workouts. Also, fining workouts I’ve done before is clunky and you can’t click to start them from the list, you can get the name and then scroll to find it in another area. Also no search feature. Also I can’t figure out how to see previous month’s workouts.
Hi omg stop it already, Thanks for sharing your review and your experiences with us! We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the app overall and are feeling results. Regarding the workouts not being tracked properly when in "binge-mode", we are aware of this and are working on improving this feature. We having made notes of your other suggestions and thank you for choosing Asana Rebel! If you have any other suggestions, please let us know. Namaste, The Asana Rebel Team

Asana Rebel Review: Is It A Good Workout App?

asana rebel review

Asana Rebel, which debuted on the app stores in 2015, is a veteran among fitness apps. Without a doubt, they paved the way and provided examples of the benefits that fitness apps can provide. Judging by the number of active downloads they currently have and the size of their social media following, it is evident that this app has been a top pick for many years.

The exercise app Asana Rebel is based on yoga. The app is more of a healthy lifestyle app with a lot more to offer than just workouts, including videos of healthy recipes, sleep aids and meditation tracks. If you prefer, you can perform the exercises on the Asana Rebel app at home or in a gym.

So, is Asana Rebel a good workout app? In this article, we’ll explore the Asana Rebel app. Please keep reading.

Table of Contents

About Asana Rebel

Asana Rebel is a well-known yoga-inspired health & wellness app that was created in Berlin after realizing the gaps in other fitness apps at the time.

They observed that most of the well-known yoga brands at the time were very “spiritual” and “yogi style,” as opposed to putting an emphasis on the health and scientific advantages that yoga offers.

They launched the app in 2015 and have seen yearly growth after investing significant funding in research and development.

They now have at least 40 000 new users downloading it each month, over 10 million current users worldwide, and have amassed a base of over 2 million Instagram followers!

With such a large following, it’s obvious that Asana Rebel is undoubtedly doing something right; however, since its launch, thousands of other high-quality apps have also entered the market, making it challenging to know which app is actually the best choice for you.

Asana Rebel stands out from similar apps because it places a greater emphasis on healthy lifestyle integration and good habits than on hard workouts or specific tracking.

How Does Asana Rebel Function?

I’ll now walk you through the process of setting up Asana Rebel. It was incredibly quick and easy to complete this process.

Create An Account And Set Up Your Profile

Following sign-in, a series of questions are posed, including those regarding your gender, height, weight, target weight, date of birth, level of fitness, type of diet, and goals. Although most fitness apps will ask you for this information, it’s a good idea to enter it accurately so the app can provide you with more individualized content.

Choose between beginner, intermediate, or advanced fitness levels. It’s critical to stick with beginner-friendly exercises if you’re new to yoga practice and want to keep your form in check.

Some yoga poses may be challenging if you try and try too hard. Speaking from experience, it’s much better to exercise consistently at your own pace than to stop after a few days because the yoga classes are too challenging.).

For diet type, you can choose between:

  • No preference
  • Keto (low-carb)

The goals you can choose from are as follows:

  • Sleep better
  • Lose weight
  • Tight and toned body
  • Build healthy habits
  • Exercise more efficiently
  • More energy every day

The app will then generate a “Daily Plan” and provide personalized recommendations, such as workout videos, recipes, or meditations, based on your preferences and objectives.

Set Up Your Weekly Goal

Then, based on how frequently and on which days you exercise, you will be asked to set your weekly goal.

asana rebel review

Additionally, if you need a little more inspiration, it will ask if you want to start with a challenge. If you are unfamiliar with yoga-inspired fitness, the challenges are designed to introduce you to it. They are either 7, 14, 21, or 28 days long.

Start Your Plan

You can begin using Asana Rebel to exercise once you’ve established and defined your goals. They ask all the typical questions that most well-known fitness apps will ask you when you set up a new subscription, as you can see.

Pros Of Asana Rebel

Healthy habits.

The healthy habits feature is a convenient and useful way to monitor activities like getting enough water. Though the advice is frequently simple and all-encompassing, it will undoubtedly have an impact on your general health, so the reminders are a welcome addition.

One way Asana Rebel tries to go beyond just yoga workouts as a way to become a part of your daily life is by promoting these healthy habits. However, you could achieve the same result by simply setting reminders or notifications on your phone.

Effective Workouts

While simple and repetitive, the exercises on Asana Rebel are still effective. For the more general fitness workouts, there are only so many ways you can move your body without equipment, so after a while, you might start to miss the workouts that involve equipment like dumbbells, barbells, etc.

However, you can’t fault Asana Rebel’s workouts if the goal is to get you to sweat and move. They will undoubtedly succeed in doing so.

Yoga poses can be used to develop functional strength, flexibility, balance, and calorie burning, so the programming can undoubtedly help you achieve a variety of fitness objectives.

Meditations

The app also offers helpful audio meditations. This plays into Asana Rebel’s roots as a more yoga-focused app and the significance of including mindfulness in your fitness regimen.

Daily Plan Outlined For You

It was helpful to have a plan in place, despite the daily plan occasionally being a little simplistic. Having a daily plan definitely aids in accountability and commitment because it’s easy to get distracted with a new YouTube workout or completely forget to exercise.

Recipe Content

The recipe section of Asana Rebel is quite extensive and can be filtered according to your preferences, such as vegan or gluten-free.

The recipes aren’t particularly innovative, but they provide some welcome inspiration and motivation for eating better. Your diet will be extremely important in helping you reach your goal of losing weight, in particular.

Makes Fitness Easier

Many people contrast fitness apps, particularly those that cost money, with the free online media they can access, like YouTube or the website you’re currently viewing.

By offering a structure to adhere to, Asana Rebel undoubtedly makes exercising easier. As opposed to occasionally following a YouTube workout, if you were to follow it exactly, you would probably become more fit.

However, this cannot be compared to the value of a personal trainer or an online personal training service, which will be much more tailored to your needs.

Intuitive Design

asana rebel review

The app’s layout is uncomplicated and easy to use. Everything you require can be found, and even non-technical users won’t have any trouble locating workouts, recipes, and other content.

Cons Of Asana Rebel

The website is difficult to navigate.

Although it isn’t a problem with the app, the company’s website is challenging to use. It’s not immediately clear where you can find that information if you run into any problems or difficulties because the homepage is just a landing page that directs you to a quiz.

Confusing Pricing

The pricing for Asana Rebel is also a little hazy. Like many fitness apps, it uses a freemium business model. This means that while you can download and use the app for free, it has very few features, so you’ll need to upgrade to get the full experience.

Asana Rebel has a variety of paid membership options, which feels unnecessary and a bit confusing given that the majority of fitness apps probably function in the same way.

Pricier Than Competitors

Hence, the unaddressed issue. Particularly when compared to other fitness apps, the cost of Asana Rebel really needs to be taken into consideration.

This is where it begins to seem to us like we are contrasting apples and oranges. There are many fitness apps available that offer excellent value for comparable costs. We’re discussing more recent technology, live classes, performance monitoring, and other things.

Asana Rebel doesn’t appear on our shortlist of the best fitness workout apps this year because it feels like it’s stuck in 2015 and hasn’t updated to take advantage of new features.

Online Reviews Are Concerning

When reviewing any product or service, we always want to be thorough, and it didn’t take us long to realize that Asana Rebel’s TrustPilot page was absolutely horrifying. We recognize that businesses may take unfairly negative reviews seriously and that some customers may give businesses a one-star rating without good reason (plus, there’s the whole fake review business!).).

Asana Rebel Costs How Much?

An Asana Rebel subscription varies in price between $4.91 USD and $15.99 USD a month, depending on how long you commit to signing up.

A month-by-month membership costs $15.99 USD per month. Annual membership costs $58.99 USD upfront, which works out to be $4.91 USD per month, saving you almost 70% overall.

Asana Rebel is actually very inexpensive when compared to other well-known yoga-related apps like Alo Moves. After all, purchasing daily barista coffees on your own can easily cost much more than a subscription.

asana rebel review

Although it happens quite infrequently, Asana Rebel offers a variety of other pricing structures all year long, such as those that are available during sales. It’s important to remember that prices can change, so you should never take the information in this article as gospel. Instead, you should always confirm the price of the application at the time of download.

Is Asana Rebel Suitable For Beginners?

Asana Rebel is a great option for beginners because, in contrast to other apps like the body coach, it emphasizes a more holistic approach to health and fitness and doesn’t have as demanding a workout schedule.

Although it may seem bad, the app’s simplicity and lack of customization actually make it simple for those just getting started.

For instance, many apps like Lauren Simpson Fitness or Move With Us are simply too complicated and overwhelming for a beginner, despite the fact that they are incredibly effective.

If you’re a beginner and have never practiced yoga before, you might need to become familiar with a few basic poses before you begin; however, it won’t take you long to pick it up.

Asana Rebel is excellent if you’re just getting started and want to make exercise a regular habit, but it might not be the best choice if you’re hoping to achieve a specific goal, like a dramatic body transformation.

Customers Reviews

  • I took out a year’s subscription at a significantly lower cost than many others, but I only occasionally used it because I didn’t like it. Despite my attempts to cancel, after just one year, my subscription was renewed and the full amount was deducted from my account without any prior notice! Even though I contacted “Customer Service” the same day the payment was taken, they refused to issue a refund. Not even a suggestion that 11 months or something similar might be refunded! Do not fall for this company’s con; all they are interested in is taking your money.
  • Be sure to read the entire contract. You are not only charged for one year. You are charged once more at the end of the year. Even though I immediately notified them after the money arrived through my bank, they won’t issue refunds.
  • Although their customer service and business practices are dubious, the exercises themselves are fine. Questions or grievances are not addressed by their financial department. Be careful because they don’t send out notifications when payments are due. P.S. I got a nice email and a reimbursement. I appreciate you, Asana Rebel.

Conclusions

In conclusion, the Asana Rebel app isn’t, in our opinion, the best exercise app available if you’re looking for more variety in your workouts. Asana Rebel, on the other hand, might be the app for you if you like yoga-based workouts and are looking for a generally healthy lifestyle app.

If you want to try out Asana Rebel before purchasing it, you can always do so by downloading it for free (or by watching some of their workouts on social media). From there, you can decide if it’s the right fit for you.

Three screenshots of the Alo Moves app showcasing classes and features.

Alo Moves was our favorite yoga app because of its personalized recommendations and quality of classes.

But Alo Moves impressed me from the start. One feature I paid attention to with all apps was the thoroughness of the initial quiz you take, which customizes the sessions the app serves you to try. Alo Moves has a detailed survey that asked about my previous experience, what types of classes I liked (such as yoga, fitness, or mindfulness) and what styles of yoga I want to learn, from traditional vinyasa flows to relaxing restorative yoga. Alo Moves offers a selection of non-yoga fitness classes including HIIT, barre, and Pilates, too.

Alo Moves recommended excellent classes tailored to my desire to increase my flexibility and learn new skills. You can also retake the survey to get new recommendations if your goals or preferred teaching style change over time.

Alo’s app layout looks clean and sleek, which makes it easy to use. Many classes require no equipment at all (other than a mat), and if they do, it’s listed up front so you can gather your gear or select another class.

It broke up my class recommendations by category (i.e., “Pilates picks for you”; “Skills to explore”; “Daily classes for you”), as well as Series and Playlists of multiple classes that felt in line with my interests and skill level.

I selected a restorative class focused on stretching and a more traditional vinyasa class for testing scrutiny. Both felt just as good as a workout in a yoga studio: The restorative session gave me plenty of time to sink into each pose and the vinyasa class gave me tons of awesome moves to relieve tension and build balance and strength.

My one qualm is that the classes I chose were not equally informative. I felt the instructor for the restorative yoga class gave more detail about the movements we were doing, and how I should perform them. But the vinyasa instructor didn’t offer as much context, which as a more beginner-level yogi I felt was a small strike against Alo Moves.

Alo Moves is one of the pricier apps we tested. However, its quality and variety of classes, the layout of the app, and the extensive library make it worth the price—and a full month membership to Alo is still much less expensive than many single in-person yoga classes. You also get a 14-day free trial. If you, like me, find that Alo Moves makes you look forward to practicing every day, I’m willing to bet you’ll get your money’s worth.

Four screenshots of the Asana Rebel app showcasing its features and classes.

Asana Rebel is our pick for "Best Variety" because of the many other fitness classes it offers.

Asana Rebel offers among the widest range of workouts of all the apps we tested, from various forms of yoga to other workouts like cardio and strength training. It's this variety that makes it a great choice for a fitness buff who wants to integrate more yoga into their routine.

I found Asana Rebel’s yoga classes to be challenging in a good way. Many of them combined yoga with cardio or strength training for a more intense practice that got my heart rate up. The app uses a voiceover style of teaching—that is, audio narration plays over a video, rather than the instructor talking you through the class as they go—which made it feel more automated and knocked a few points off for me. Still, even though it felt less personalized, the narration was sufficient for a solid, easy-to-follow flow.

The app itself is easy to customize and integrate into your life. You can set reminders to work out, meditate, and even to drink water. It recommends classes based on the time of day, with more energizing high-intensity workouts recommended in the morning and restorative yoga and guided meditation sessions at night, but you can select any kind of workout by refining your search via categories like “get in shape,” “flexibility and mobility,” and “strength,” or you may search by low, medium, or high intensity.

However, Asana Rebel wasn't without its downsides. The initial survey is focused on fitness goals and weight loss in a way I found grating—it asked for start and goal weights, which I felt was unnecessary. But my one real hesitation in recommending Asana Rebel as the top yoga app is that with its plentiful workout options, it feels more like a general workout app. I enjoyed the yoga I did with Asana Rebel, but I had to search a little harder for good yoga recommendations. That said, the filters like “flexibility and mobility” and “breathe and relax” yielded some great classes that had me wanting to go back for more.

Other Yoga Apps We Tested

Product image of CorePower Yoga On Demand

CorePower is a nationwide yoga studio chain that became known for its high-energy heated “Hot Power Fusion” power yoga classes and calmer (but still hot) yoga sessions. The CorePower At Home Yoga on Demand app is a great option for those who love the brand’s workouts already as well as those who have never tried it.

The app has ample options, including traditional CorePower Yoga (a classic vinyasa flow), Yoga Sculpt (a fast-paced power yoga class that uses weights and cardio moves to get your heart pumping), and lessons exclusive to the app that provide step-by-step breakdowns of specific poses to get you more comfortable with them.

CorePower doesn’t give you a quiz to figure out your workout style and fitness level, so you aren't served sessions that are tailored to your interests. Still, the classes are easy to sort through, with thorough descriptions that tell you what to expect. You can also filter by experience level, class type, class length, and teacher.

I tried both a Core Restore (restorative yoga) class and a Yoga Sculpt Bodyweight (YSB) class. The Core Restore class was one of my favorite yoga classes from the entire testing process. The instructor explained how to perform each movement, why I was doing them, and what I should expect to feel. I felt amazing when I was done—rested, stretched, and refreshed. I also enjoyed the Yoga Sculpt Bodyweight class, but it wasn’t the same as taking the class in person with the high-energy, bumping music and enthusiasm from your instructor and fellow yogis.

Product image of Glo

The detailed narration was one of my favorite things about Glo, a yoga app that offers an abundance of yoga sessions, live classes, and specialized practices. Its teachers provide easy-to-understand context for movements during classes, which makes it great for beginners and more experienced yogis alike. At my beginner-intermediate level, I thought each yoga video was thorough, easy to follow, and made me feel more confident in my poses.

Glo’s initial survey was detailed and included unique options I hadn’t seen in other surveys, like yoga for prenatal and postnatal care, back care, and focus and productivity. In addition, Glo suggests categories like “start your morning” and “learn to meditate” which can prompt users to try something new. I chose a “start your morning” flow and a restorative yoga class and enjoyed both sessions. After the “start your morning” flow I felt energized, positive, and, yes, ready to start my day.

But the app seems to promote its live classes and series more than personalized picks, which made it feel more generic to me. I found myself having to search through Glo’s 3,500 yoga classes to find picks that aligned with what I indicated I wanted in my survey, which made me less enthusiastic about using it. Also less compelling: It’s the highest priced app we tested.

Product image of Find What Feels Good

Most classes are led by Mishler, and I loved her teaching style. She’s informative, always has suggestions for those who want to modify their practice to be easier or more difficult, and has a soothing presence that comes through the screen. You can find some sessions taught by guest teachers, but because Mishler is the main instructor, you don’t get as much new content as other apps. What's more, Mishler continues to create new content for free on her YouTube channel, making buying into this app a head scratcher for all but her most dedicated fans.

That monthly fee supports Mishler's mission—in fact, the app description touts keeping the Yoga With Adriene channel “alive” as a benefit of paying for the app. But more casual viewers will benefit more from exploring the YouTube channel before springing for the app.

Product image of Down Dog - Yoga

Down Dog is set up differently from many other yoga apps. It starts with a survey that lets you select what styles of yoga you're interested in, but instead of recommending a few different videos, it generates a selection of poses shown with a video slide and a prerecorded voiceover that guides you through your practice.

Each time you open the app, you can alter the length of the practice and style of yoga—from Hatha to Vinyasa-flow sun salutations—and it creates a new session for you. Because of this, you can’t scroll through different types of workouts. Instead, it designs sessions for you based on your answers. Down Dog lets you track your progress and set goals—like classes taken and time spent practicing—which is a nice feature for achievement-oriented people.

The narration is surprisingly detailed, which helped me out as a beginner. And while you can select the voice, the format is robotic, lacking the friendly conversational and motivational vibe most app classes and real-life instructors offer. In the end, the sessions I took (a “full practice” and a restorative yoga session) weren't particularly memorable, and I wasn’t excited about using the app.

Gaia isn’t just a yoga app. Billing itself as the “largest online resource of consciousness-expanding videos,” on Gaia you can explore 8,000-plus streaming options surrounding “metaphysics and alternative healing,” in addition to the expected flows. At first, I was impressed with all the options, but I ultimately found all that the other information took away from the yoga, which is what I wanted to focus on.

Gaia offers basic yoga and restorative sessions taught in a relaxed, slow-paced style. It also has useful extra features and recommendations, like a “yoga for runners” series I checked out. In addition to the health- and yoga-related topics, it has categories for things like “the paranormal and unexplained,” “ancient origins,” and “secrets and coverups.” I enjoyed the yoga sessions I took, but could do without the rest.

Useful yoga series

Extra features detracted from the yoga

Product image of Daily Yoga

Daily Yoga doesn’t use an initial survey to gauge your experience and recommend classes. Because of this, I got a less personalized class selection and had to spend more time searching for classes that sounded interesting to me.

I liked the class I took, a classic Vinyasa style class, but I didn’t love it. I found it too fast-paced for my liking, and the audio didn’t provide enough context for certain movements. Daily Yoga uses a voiceover to instruct viewers, which is less engaging than an instructor speaking in a video while demonstrating the moves.

Though I didn’t love the yoga sessions as much as those offered by other apps, Daily Yoga has some cool bells and whistles. The app awards badges for “checking in” and completing courses, which is a great way to incentivize users to practice regularly. It also shows an overview of the poses users will do in the session, which is great for anyone looking to steer clear of certain movements due to injury or discomfort.

No survey to assess your fitness goals or experience

Voiceover-style teaching

Product image of Lotus Yoga

Lotus Yoga offers a wide variety of classes and programs, primarily taught in Vinyasa style. Its downfall for me was that the narration lacked detail and explanation and was hard to follow compared to many other apps, especially for a beginner-level yogi. In the classes I took, Lotus Yoga didn’t offer many suggestions to make workouts easier for those who have injuries or more challenging for those who are more advanced.

I liked that Lotus Yoga has many programs to choose from, like the “always be in a good mood” program. It made it easy for users to focus on one goal and have classes ready to go to work toward that goal—but, in the end, the instruction itself fell flat for me.

Lets you select as many goals as you like

Poor narration

Doesn’t offer many modifications

Product image of Yoga Studio

Yoga Studio offers simple, straightforward classes that give you the movements to do but without much detail. I didn't enjoy this format, though it may be better suited for someone more advanced than me. That said, the app shows you a list of poses ahead of starting class so you can see what you’ll be doing and if there are any moves you may want to skip or modify, which I found helpful.

Overall, I found the app setup to be confusing. Every time I selected a class, I had to download it before playing it, which was time-consuming and frustrating. Because the voiceover-style narration lacked detail, I found it hard to follow, leaving me feeling disappointed with my workout.

Confusing app setup

Product image of Pocket Yoga

Pocket Yoga may be a good app for beginners who are looking to learn poses, but its limited class selection and atypical class structure work against it. The app lets you select from five styles of classes that have names like “ocean” (a combination of HIIT and yoga), “desert” (meant to “unwind and unravel”), and mountain (power yoga). You also select the class lengths among 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes (but no 5- or 10-minute classes for those who just want a quick flow). This limited selection of classes made me think I would get bored quickly.

The class format is also not ideal. Instead of a live video, Pocket Yoga uses a combination of an animated slide and a voiceover to guide you through your practice. The narration was easy enough to follow, but I often lost track of the visuals, as some moves simply didn’t translate well in slide form.

Pocket Yoga has a large index of yoga poses separate from the classes. I found this useful, as it breaks down how to do pretty much every yoga pose imaginable. I also enjoyed how Pocket Yoga has forward and backward buttons that let you easily toggle between poses. If one pose doesn’t work for you, you can easily skip it and move on with your practice.

Still, Pocket Yoga failed to wow me or make me want to use it consistently. That said, it’s the cheapest app of all with only a one-time download fee, so if you’re looking for a little yoga in your life, it may do the trick.

Has a large pose index

Narration is great for beginners

The animation is not great

How We Tested Yoga Apps

A woman practicing yoga in tree pose.

We tested each yoga app by looking for a few key elements like quality narration, a wide variety of classes, and an easy-to-use app setup.

I’m Esther Bell, the health and fitness writer at Reviewed and a beginner- to intermediate-level yogi. I enjoy the occasional CorePower or hot yoga class, as well as Pilates, barre, and cycling—really, anything that gets me moving and feeling good. I love incorporating yoga into my "rest" days for light movement, balance work, and stretching, but mostly for the relaxation and opportunity to unwind. Usually, I seek out yoga sessions on YouTube when I can’t make it to the studio, so yoga apps were new to me.

Although people may want different things from their yoga sessions, we identified a few key components that help make a yoga app useful for most people. We wanted thorough and safe instructions to help the user understand why certain movements were used and how to know if you’re doing them correctly. We looked for a large collection of a variety of classes to prevent boredom. And, most importantly, we wanted using the yoga app to be enjoyable enough to make most people look forward to spending time on the mat.

After downloading each app, I took a look at the variety of classes offered by each one. My aim was to select one traditional Vinyasa flow class, one restorative yoga class, and one of another style of workout, if the app offered, like Pilates or barre workouts. After taking each session, I evaluated the apps based on their selection of classes, quality of the instructors, the personalization of the yoga programs, and how easy it was to use the app.

What You Should Know About Yoga Apps

Because there are different styles of yoga, we looked for an app that was all-encompassing and provided the option to select different types of classes every day. However, whatever app gets you excited about moving and gives you the instruction you want will be best for you. If you know you prefer a slow-paced, melt-into-your-mat practice over a “get ready for the day” energizing session, you may prefer an app that focuses on restorative yoga. Likewise, if you know you want to sweat during most of your practices, you’ll want an app that has an ample selection of athletic power flows. Almost all of the apps we tested (and in general) have a free trial, so if you’re looking for a place to start, you can try them for yourself, no commitment necessary.

If you’re a total yoga novice, you’ll quickly become familiar with common yoga jargon. A few you should know up front: vinyasa, restorative, hatha, and power yoga.

Vinyasa yoga: Often referred to as “flow,” vinyasa is a style of yoga that utilizes poses that connect from one to the next with ease and encourages practitioners to move with their breath.

Hatha yoga: This type of yoga is similar to Vinyasa in that it uses a mixture of poses to use the body, breath, and mind in one. Hatha yoga is typically paced more slowly and allows for more deep stretching than Vinyasa.

Restorative yoga: These sessions offer a more restful practice. Restorative yoga often uses props like cushions, blocks, or blankets to help get deep into stretches that you may hold for several minutes. It focuses on the meditative aspect of yoga to relax the body and mind and relieve any stress or tension.

Power yoga: This energetic practice is a popular form of Vinyasa yoga that focuses on strength and flexibility. It moves at a faster pace, so it’s a great option for people who prefer higher energy workouts but still want to reap the benefits of yoga.

From the first day, I’ve been into workouts, I’ve used multiple health and fitness apps. There are some I liked and some I didn’t.

But, this time, I have tried a unique paid app called asana rebel for weight loss. This app has created a revolution by reinventing yoga into a daily workout. And in the last seven years, millions have tried this app.

So, is this app worth your money?

In this asana rebel review, I will share everything about this app and figure out whether it is worth your money or not!

Let’s get into it.

The asana rebel has reinvented the idea of yoga and really worked hard to make this app user-friendly. Other than that, their workout and recipe playlists are huge.

Asana rebel’s recipes are in-depth and available with all the cooking instructions in a simple way.

The yearly subscription fee is affordable, and the addition of sleep, focus music, and meditation makes it more attractive. The activity trackers were on point too.

The Not So Good

The asana rebel’s motivation, music for focus, and sleep music sections aren’t enriched. Very few collections are available in the asana rebel app, whereas many similar apps offer huge collections.

And, the freemium features give you access to very few contents.

Also, the monthly charge is much higher than the competitors (whereas the yearly charge is affordable). Many asana rebel review claims that they were charged even after canceling and never refunded.

The Bottom Line

Asana rebel’s app isn’t specialized. Many purchased this app thinking it’s a yoga-based app, so it should teach you yoga properly. But, no. It’s an app that reinvented yoga in a new way.

Also, the overcharging and payment issues are a big problem, but I haven’t faced anything like this.

if you are looking for faster weight loss, then this app won’t help. Instead there are many better alternatives available that actually work ( like metabolic renewal ).

Asana Rebel is a yoga-inspired fitness app with all sorts of features like workout playlists, nutrition and recipes, meditation, and so on.

Unlike other fitness apps, the asana rebel app contains many fun and inspiring features like sleep management, challenges, quizzes, workout tips, etc.

This app promotes weight loss and a healthy lifestyle with millions of active users.

Robin Pratap founded the Asana Rebel App in 2015 in Berlin.

asana rebel logo

According to an interview , Robin wanted to make yoga easier for people, so they looked into yoga from the user’s perspective and redefined it.

Well, it’s true. A beginner will never understand which yoga is perfect for them until you explain its benefits. And complicated yoga names like Hatha, Kundalini, and Jnana often create confusion in beginner’s minds.

But if you explain that this exercise is for strengthening your core or improving your posture, they’ll definitely understand it. So, indeed it was a good approach.

Though I’m not a big fan of Asana, I must say they’ve designed the app considering user preferences.

The app will initially ask you small questions with multiple answers; based on that, the asana rebel app will design your daily plan!

And, the daily plan is good too. You have to do these small daily tasks to develop healthy habits.

It can be healthy eating habits, daily exercising for 10 minutes (at least), meditation, focus increasing, or something related to productivity (like a to-do list).

a human holding a phone and water bottle

Then again, the asana rebel offers quizzes and nutritional facts that’ll help you to stay active and learn more regarding health and fitness.

There is another feature called challenges which is great if you want to achieve any fitness goal within the short time possible.

So, that’s pretty much it!

Notable Features of the Asana Rebel App

Asana Rebel is one of the oldest and most used apps available online. This app dominates the fitness industry with over 40,000 new and over ten million current users.

And their 2.2 million Instagram followers is a great proof of it.

In this section, I’ll share all the features and explain how each feature of asana rebel can improve your life.

So, let’s start with the sign-up first.

In the beginning, you’ve to start by clicking the ‘get started’ button. Now, there’ll be some questionnaires that you have to answer. Which are:

  • Your gender
  • Your health goals and the goal you want to start with
  • Your height
  • Your weight and your target weight (if you are considering weight loss, then)
  • Your fitness level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced)
  • Your year of birth
  • Your diet type (vegetarian, vegan, keto, no preference, and others)

asana rebel app

Based on all your answers, the asana pro will provide a health forecast like this. Once all these are done, you have to set your email and password, and you are all set!

Now, you’ll see a page to buy the app and access all the content. Or, you can press the ‘x’ button and roam around the app but you won’t be able to access all the content.

So, let’s see what this fitness app offers.

Once you get into the app, the first page you will see is the ‘today’ tab. In this tap, there’ll be a lot of features.

As I’ve selected the beginner program, they’re showing the beginner exercises (each video takes around 10-12 minutes). Down below, there are healthy meal recommendations with recipes and many other things.

So, here are the features you can find in the today tab:

  • Workout Playlist (depending on your level)
  • Meal recommendation (with recipes, approximate time, and difficulty level
  • Another workout Plan
  • Another Meal recommendation
  • Productivity Hack
  • Mindfulness exercise
  • Challenge recommendation
  • Focus music
  • Recommended exercise and nutrition selection (for that time)
  • Small blog

asana rebel app today Feature

As you can see, the app tries to help you in every way to transform your life. Also, it shows you different plans depending on the time.

For example, the picture above shows a plan and recommendations for dinner time, but if you log in in the morning or afternoon, things will be different.

If you are looking for something different then you can use the ‘explore’ tab to access all the contents available in asana rebel app.

Through the explore tab, you can search or go through all the contents by category. In the explore option, you’ll find categories like:

  • Exercise
  • Music for Focus
  • Sleep

asana rebel app explore Feature

Under all these categories, you’ll find many sub-categories and all the contents. Keep reading to learn everything about asana rebel.

So, here comes the activity tracker.

This is a common feature in most fitness apps.

However, Asana’s activity tracker tracks multiple aspects. Which are:

  • Weekly Goal
  • Calendar
  • Time by category
  • Total sessions by category
  • Session History

asana rebel app activity Feature

Now, let’s elaborate on what all these features are:

  • Weekly Goal: Remember, while signing up, there was a question about how many days you can exercise a week. This is the progress of those days. If you complete all the workouts, it’ll be completely green.
  • Calendar : The calendar will help you to observe your progress and how many days you have worked throughout the month. The calendar is available for exercise, meditation, and music for focus and sleep.
  • Time by category: This tracker mostly calculates how much time you have invested in exercising, sleep and focus music, and meditation. You can check this in 7, 30, 90, and all-time formats.
  • Total session by category: This is the same as the ‘time by category’ tool, but instead of time, this calculates sessions. It calculates how many sessions you’ve completed throughout the 7, 30,90 days or all-time format.
  • Session history : In this tab, you can find everything regarding the session history of sleep, exercise, focus, and meditation sessions. With this tool, you can easily determine how long each session was.

So, that’s pretty much it about the activity tab.

While signing up, asana rebel asks for your eating preference. And, based on what you have selected, you’ll see meal plans here.

After opening the app, you have to visit the explore button, where you can see a tab called ‘nutrition.’

This is where you can find all the recipes. And, I must say, the meal section is well-designed.

You’ll see a variety of options for mindful eating, and it promotes eating healthy. And, the best part, all these recipes serve different purposes. Which are:

asana rebel app Nutrition & Recipes  Feature

  • High Protein
  • Anti-inflammatory foods
  • Increase Metabolism
  • Boost Mental Performance
  • Low Calorie
  • Easily Digestible
  • High in Protein

You can also favorite all those recipes you like. All the recipes are available with-

  • Estimated cooking time
  • Difficulty Level
  • Calorie Level
  • Diet preference

So, if you want to know how the recipes are, here is a sample recipe for you.

As you can see, the recipe has all the necessary details, and all the ingredients are common and easily available.

One of the best things about Asana rebel is that the app also focuses on improving mental health. Meditation is essential for leading a more healthy lifestyle.

In Asana Rebel, all the meditation tracks are short (5-16 minutes), and most tracks are helpful for attention training.

These tracks are easy to follow and don’t take much time. If you don’t have time, there are 5-9 minute tracks available too.

There’s also a meditation collection for different purposes. Which are:

asana rebel app meditation Feature

  • Beginner
  • Travel
  • Weight Control
  • Mindful Eating
  • Better Work Performance
  • Instant Stress Relief
  • Deep Relaxation
  • Anger Management
  • Magic Morning
  • Productivity
  • Deep Breathing

Under each category, there are 5-7 meditation sessions that you can follow.

If you are familiar with productivity hacks, then you already know what music for focus is.

Focus music is meant to soothe your brain and improve your focus level. Often this music is long for hours and doesn’t disturb you while working.

Now, you might be thinking, does focus music really work?

So, according to a study , focus music like classical can really help your brain absorb new information easily.

asana rebel app Music For Focus Feature

Another research done by people with ADHD claims that listening to focus music can improve performance and focus level.

A study also shows that music can be a great tool for stress management.

In conclusion, music for focus can actually increase your performance and focus level.

Asana’s focus music collection is too low though. In fact, there are only six music tracks available, each for an hour (60 minutes).

These six music pieces contain sounds of nature, chill beats, alpha waves, and so on.

Sleep is a big problem of today’s world. As there are so many distractions, it’s so tough to get quality sleep and wake up early in the morning.

However, many solutions came up for the problem, and one of them is sleep music. Music for sleep can help you to sleep better.

These pieces of music are soothing and calm your brain.

According to researchconducted on 20+ student shows, students who listened to music for 45 minutes had better sleep and less depression.

inside of asana rebel app Sleep Feature

On the other hand, another study shows that music can actually improve sleep quality in people with acute and chronic sleeping disorders.

In the asana rebel app, they’ve their own music for sleeping. It’s divided into two categories:

  • Sleep Music
  • Sleep Meditation

Most of the music for sleep is made from nature, harmony, white house, campfire, and so on. All these are one hour (60 minutes) long. But, the music for sleep collection is too low, only ten musics are there!

On the other hand, sleep meditations are small, crisp, and effective. There are five meditations, and all of them are 7-10 minutes long.

This can be a great option if you don’t meditate all day long and want a clean head before going to sleep.

Workout challenges are fun! And, when it comes to transforming yourself, it’s highly effective, and you can also burn calories.

So, if you are considering better results within less time, possible challenges are the best way.

Asana Rebel offers a few challenges with all the necessary instruction. You can see the following challenges in the asana rebel app:

  • 7-Day Challenge For Beach Body (aka bikini body)
  • 28-Day Yoga Love Challenge
  • 21-Day Challenge For Weight Loss
  • 14-Day Challenge For Six-Pack ABS

So, these are the four challenges you can follow. If you are a beginner, then you can start with the 7-Day Challenge For Beach Body.

So, here comes the most important part of all fitness apps- Fitness Workouts!

Exercise plays the most important role in weight loss (after diet). And the team of Asana understands it.

That’s why they offer a variety of workouts. And most of these workouts don’t require any equipment (except a yoga mat, a towel, or a block)

Here are the categories of exercises you can see in the asana rebel app.

asana rebel app workout Feature

  • Get in Shape
  • Flexibility and Mobility
  • Strength
  • Breathe and Relax
  • Balance and Focus
  • Short Workouts
  • Long Workouts
  • Low Intensity
  • Medium Intensity
  • High Intensity

Besides, there are workout collections available as well. These are more like a series of workouts. In the collections, you’ll see workouts like-

  • Midday Energy Recharge
  • Morning Energy Boost
  • Hack your Senses
  • Tight and Toned (toned body exercise for the tight and toned body)
  • Desk Dwellers
  • Tight and Toned 2
  • Power HIIT
  • Stress Relief
  • Spring Detox
  • Core Power
  • Get In Shape for Summer
  • Espresso Five: Five-Minute Workouts
  • Master of All
  • Yoga Foundation
  • Yoga For Men
  • Yoga For Travelers

There are a variety of workouts in this app and many options for yoga workouts. There are plenty of new workouts you haven’t even heard of.

Now, let’s talk about the workout videos; all the workout videos are high-quality and properly explained. Most workout videos are 4-30 minutes long and well-detailed.

And, when you open a workout, you’ll see the following features:

  • Details about the workout (mostly benefits)
  • Workout structure (warm up, cool down, main workout time frame)
  • Approximate time frame
  • Workout intensity
  • Similar workout suggestion

Besides, the video player is super user-friendly. You can change the background music of the video, skip the intro, warm up and cool down.

Also, if you want, you can adjust the playback speed of the video too. Overall, the video player is highly customizable and user-friendly.

Another great and engaging feature of this app is fun quizzes.

These daily quizzes will help you learn about health and fitness, work, new workout, healthy recipes, healthy habits, and so on.

Because of this holistic approach, many asana rebel users have learned much about health and fitness and improved daily life.

The Asana Rebel price is available in two variations. Here is how much asana rebel cost.

  • Yearly Package : $35.99 ($2.99/month)
  • Monthly Package : $9.99 (each month)

Both these packages come with a 14-day money-back guarantee.

However, the price keeps changing.

Well, the asana rebel app is a freemium model app. Though almost 85% of the content is premium, 15% of the content is available for free.

I guess Asana is kept in this way so people can see some content for free, and if they like it, then pay for the premium and use all the features.

If you want to use the freemium, you have to download asana rebel, and then you can look into the free content.

a human sitting in the gym and watching a phone

Asana Rebel is one of the first fitness apps launched in the yoga-based workout category.

Nowadays, many yoga apps are available, but asana rebel is the only yoga app that has converted yoga into something that everyone can easily do.

They’ve invented yoga in such a way that you can do yoga practice or learn yoga just like yoga classes.

I’ve even seen many people use asana rebel just to follow their yoga routines.

On the other hand, the Asana app has a very user-friendly user interface, and the contents are high-quality and informative.

Also, the in-detailed tracker, tons of meal plans with in-detailed recipes, and fun quizzes make this app appealing.

In my opinion, Asana Rebel is a fusion of fitness and yoga app. And those who are looking for a different kind of yoga-inspired app can consider this.

Asana Rebel App Review: My Experience From the Scratch

Just a few months ago, I was very much interested in yoga. And, yoga classes in my area were super expensive.

While looking for a solution online, I found the most downloaded Yoga app, Asana Rebel. So I decided to download it.

And I tried asana rebel for a month as well.

So, here is the asana rebel app review based on my experience.

Throughout my fitness journey, I’ve tried many fitness apps, and I must admit, Asana Rebel had one of the best UI.

While signing up, I found the questionnaires really effective, and the result was also accurate. As I considered losing weight, I set all my preferences according to that.

Once the sign-up was done, I found all the suggestions for workouts, meal plans, quizzes, and everything related to weight loss.

Unlike many other workout apps, asana rebel did a great job here; kudos to them!

Also, there were various nutritious meal plans in the app. I have tried many of them.

The black bean and sweet potato stew is something that I still have at least once a week. All the recipes had all the necessary information and were super easy to cook (delicious too). And I learned about this from the app.

Now let’s talk about asana rebel’s workouts! For me, these weren’t just workouts; these were something different. But the exercises were still very effective. And the categories and playlists help you to understand what you want.

The best part is, all the workouts are equipment-free workouts.

So, for workouts, this app can be a good option.

The app also helps you with all types of health tips and alerts you need to start living a healthy life.

a man working out at home

The tracker system also helped me to track my progress, and there is an option for notification. If you set it, the app will notify you about exercising and many other things.

One thing, this app is like a personal guide. From waking up to going to bed, you’ll see something according to the time when you get into the app.

For example, when I was logging in in the morning, all the suggestions were for the morning only, and just like this, things kept changing with time.

Though it’s not like how a personal trainer can guide you, at least you have some good advice to follow.

Also, the meditation and music for focus and sleep make it a great app. Though the collection is small, if you are someone who wants to start taking care of your mental health, then it can be a great start.

Last but not least, structures ! The app is actually well structured.

Everything is properly set up. Anyone can understand the app at a glance. And, it’s highly personalized based on your fitness goals.

So, these are a few things I really liked about the app.

Now, things are getting uglier. There are things I really like about Asana Rebel, but then again, a few things forced me to stop using the app.

First of all, Asana Rebel isn’t a new product, but still, you cannot use the website in freemium mode. And, even after paying for premium, the website is slow, whereas the app is good.

But, for a product used by millions every day, it’s a bit odd, in my opinion.

It’s true, there are plenty of exercises and playlists, but I don’t know why but I found all the workouts kind of the same! And that’s why, within a month, I got bored and had to give up on it.

I don’t have any objection to the app, meal plans, or activity tracker; these were good.

I really didn’t like the meditation, focus music, and the music for the sleep section.

Look, Asana Rebel has been in business for the last seven years, and still, these collections aren’t enriched, whereas many new workout apps got into the market recently but still they offer enriched collections.

a bored man watching phone

Another issue I’ve with Asana Rebel is with their pricing. It frequently fluctuates. Someday, the monthly package is available for $9.99, and the other day it’s for $14.99.

And the freemium model is just a joke. You can just roam around the app; out of ten contents, you can enjoy one or two.

Though they offer a 14-day money-back guarantee, going through their online reputation, I believe they should offer a free trial instead of a money-back guarantee.

In my opinion, it’s high time asana rebel starts updating new exercises and new content in other tabs.

I forgot to mention!

Even after using it properly for a month, I lost only 2.5 pounds. I wanted to lose weight but didn’t do well using the app.

I’ve only used the app for a month, so this can be a reason behind not getting better results.

asana rebel app on the phone and a human holding it

Well, it’s mixed from my side.

See, if you are someone who doesn’t have to achieve specific fitness goals; instead, if you want to lead a healthy life, then this app can be good for you.

By using asana rebel, you’ll be able to sneak into a healthy lifestyle. But the problem will start after a few months of using it. You’ll start getting bored.

This will happen because asana rebel isn’t a specialized app; it isn’t specialized in yoga or not in any other type of workouts; instead, it’s just a mixed version of everything.

So, if you have any specific goal like weight loss, I wouldn’t recommend asana rebel to you.

It is because there are many better alternatives available that work better than this app.

asana rebel user review

Just like my recommendation, the other users’ statements are quite mixed too. When you go to the play store, the 4.4 ratings (out of 5) will assure you that this app is great and you should definitely install it.

But, it’s for certain that most of these aren’t reviewed by paid and genuine users.

It is because if it was, the situation could have been different!

When you start looking for recommendations for paid users, it’s a horror story. Most of those comments were regarding auto-renew and kept charging even after canceling.

In the play store, social media comment section (even on the comment section of their Facebook advertisement), and Trustpilot reviews, users are showing their frustration regarding this app.

Many complaints show that they’ve purchased a monthly subscription but were charged for a yearly subscription. Even after mailing them, they didn’t solve it and never refunded the users.

That’s why many users aren’t recommending this app to others.

Pros and Cons of Asana Rebel

Asana rebel has been a controversial fitness app for a few reasons.

That’s why, before purchasing a subscription, please go through the pros and cons to evaluate whether it is worth your effort or not.

Collected from facebook official page

At the beginning of the asana rebel app review, I told you I wanted to use this app for weight loss. Unfortunately, the app failed to show the result I expected.

That’s when I decided to try metabolic renewal . And I must say I am fully satisfied with this program.

I lost 15 Pounds in 3 months after using this program.

The metabolic renewal program follows 4M which means: metabolic, movement, mindset and meals.

Metabolic Renewal

The journey starts by determining your metabolic type. From workouts to meal plan everything will be according to your metabolic type.

Movement is making healthy but uncomfortable choices for many of us. Like: using stairs instead of elevator, cooking for yourself instead of ordering from outside and so on. This way you’ll burn more calories and get in shape faster.

Mindset is important! When you stress, you release a hormone called cortisol which slowdown the metabolism and causes sleep deprivation, in result, weight gain! That’s why, the program contains guideline to keep your stress in check.

Meals are important aspect of our lives. That’s why, the program offers a meal plan which is perfect for weight loss and your metabolic type.

The meal plan comes with a shopping list, in-depth recipes and customization plans too.

The workout plan is divided into four phases and the four phases will be completed in 12 weeks. You’ll get high-quality video of workouts and workout plan too.

These are multi-muscle workout that target multiple muscles at the same time and burn more calories.

The program includes all the essentials like a meal plan, fitness routine and tracker, workout videos, other bonuses, and everything for $67 only (lifetime access).

Yes, you can keep all the materials forever. And, if you don’t get help from the program within the first 90-days after ordering, you can get a full refund too.

If losing weight faster is your priority, then this is the best program to opt for.

Other programs we’ve reviewed:

  • Red Mountain Weight Loss Review

To be honest, I don’t have anything against asana rebels. In fact, I have recommended asana rebel to many people who just wanted to get into a healthy lifestyle. Their small habit-forming features are really great.

It’s just that this app isn’t perfect for any specific goal. For example, if you want to lose weight healthily, then you should follow metabolic renewal instead of asana rebel.

I hope this asana rebel review helped you. If you have any queries regarding the asana rebel, don’t forget to let us know in the comment below!

Asana Rebel is a freemium app. You cannot access all the content for free, but there are still a few contents that are accessible for free. Other than that, there is no free version of asana rebel.

Yes, you can use asana rebel on multiple devices. You can use this app on all kinds of devices. In fact, the app can be used with devices like apple watch and apple tv.

If you are looking for an app with a huge collection of yoga-based workouts, then it’s good. But, if you are looking for in-depth yoga classes, many better options are available.

In-app purchases (both for google and App Store), you’ll find the asana rebel subscription option under subscription in my account setting. From there, you can cancel the auto-renewal, and your premium subscription will stop at the end of the billing cycle.

Yes, asana rebel is legit if you are looking for a yoga-inspired workout app.

Thr only workout app you need

I started using this app 6 months postpartum. I love the variety of workouts, mediation, and even nutrition. I was able to ease my body into working out again with slower yoga practices. Every workout I felt stronger and more confident. After a short period I was strong enough to do some of the challenges. Now over a year later I'm still using the app and it's still challenging which is perfect.

Reply from Asana Rebel

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! 😊 We're incredibly grateful to hear that Asana Rebel has been a positive part of your postpartum journey. It's wonderful to know that you've found our variety of workouts, meditation, and nutrition resources helpful. We're thrilled that the slower yoga practices allowed you to ease back into fitness and that you've felt stronger and more confident with each workout. It's truly inspiring to hear that you've progressed to the point of taking on challenges and that the app continues to provide you with the perfect level of challenge even after a year of use. Your dedication and commitment are admirable, and we're honored to be a part of your fitness journey. If you ever need anything or have more feedback to share, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to support you every step of the way! Keep up the fantastic work

Good at first but no new content

Firstly, I have enjoyed the exercises and have been using for 9 months now. After each exercise you get asked how hard it was and if it was too easy or too difficult. This gives the impression that maybe you will get new content tailored to your ability. However, I haven’t seen a single new bit of content on the app since I started. I want to keep using but I want to know if I am doing something wrong using the app. So look for a feedback option and there is nothing. It seems there is only a phone number for a German location and when I went to a ‘contact us’ form button on the website nothing happened. Sooo disappointed because I really have liked the app but think there will be no new content and this is why they asked for a year subscription to maximise revenue.

A training partner on a daily basis

Great app to do yoga by myself anywhere, lots of trainers, styles, easy to customize it. There are meditations, music and more, I have been a satisfied user for years. It provides great foundations and helps to develop physically and mentally.

Love the concept but could easily be made better

Hi there, I love Asana-rebel. But I feel there could be improvements made. For example, when doing challenges or a series, if the app could remember where you left off, and have it ready. Also, if would be great if the sessions were not so heavily edited. It's very obvious and feels disjointed rather than an organic flow.....which is what yoga is all about.

ADHD taming app

Wonderful! Helps me to keep focused, love teachers, love practices. Dealing with ADHD easier with this app. The best part - the wonderful team, which is always ready to help! 100/100! P.S. dear product team, please do the freezes for the practice streak as in Duolingo/Drops etc. sometimes really want to take a rest for a day, but don't want to lose the progress 😄

Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback! We're thrilled to hear that our app helps you stay focused and that you love the teachers and practices. It's fantastic to know that it's been beneficial for managing ADHD as well. We're incredibly grateful for your support and for recognizing our dedicated team. We're always here to assist you in any way we can! Regarding your suggestion about practice streak freezes, we appreciate your input and will definitely take it into consideration for future updates. We want to ensure the app meets all your needs and makes your experience even better. If you ever have more feedback or questions, please feel free to reach out. Keep up the amazing work, and thank you for being a part of our community! 😊🧘‍♀️💫

Gone downhill and still take your money

Content isn't as good as when they first started. It seemed to flow better and the sessions were amazing. The low score is for the fact that they make it hard to cancel subscription and when you do they still take money from your account. I cancelled a while ago as I just can't seem to get on with it, but low and behold my account is back to full access and I've had nearly £70 taken form my bank. Reviews state I won't be getting the refund I've requested but I hope this isn't the case as I requested it within the 14 day cooling off period. We will see! I will update more positively if they do!

No excuses like ‘i don’t have time’

Excellent price - offer (workout and other staff) balance. Those who feel themselves ‘yoga people’ will enjoy workouts a lot - excercises are based on yoga asanas. One more useful aspect is the length of workouts - from 5 to 35 minutes. It is possible to combine them and - no excuses like ‘i don’t have time’.

Date of experience : 14 January 2024

That sounds like a fantastic balance offered by the app, with an excellent price and a focus on yoga-based workouts. The flexibility in workout length, ranging from 5 to 35 minutes, is indeed a great feature as it allows users to adapt their practice to their available time and schedule. This eliminates the common excuse of not having enough time for exercise. The app's emphasis on yoga asanas is likely to resonate well with individuals who identify as "yoga people" and appreciate the physical and mental benefits of yoga-based exercises. Overall, thank you for sharing your positive experience with it!

Persistence is the key!

I've been using this app for the second year and I love the variety. Sometimes I have enough time for a longer workout, and sometimes 5-minute workouts come in handy. I love asanas and yoga, so the exercises are perfect for me. The exercises are prepared professionally and uniformly. Unlike free online workouts, I get high quality from this app and I also use it for meditation and healthy eating. Keep it up, well done Asana Rebel!

Date of experience : 07 January 2024

Thank you so much for being a loyal user of Asana Rebel for two years and for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate the variety and professionalism of our workouts. Your feedback motivates us to keep providing high-quality content. If you ever have any questions or need further guidance, please don't hesitate to reach out. Keep up the fantastic work on your wellness journey!

No refund - querying EU 14 day cooling off period

UPDATED: Emailed them twice after initial request and have now received a refund. Quoted EU regulations for 14 cooling off period relating to digital content that hasn't been downloaded or streamed. Bought the 50% discounted subscription a year ago and forgot about it - never used it - my fault and poor memory especially as they haven't been sending regular update emails (motivation, what's new etc) like most subscriptions. Pros and cons to that. Inbox isn't deluged with stuff that's not interesting or required, but also out of sight, out of mind... Renewal at slightly more than 100% came through and I requested refund. They refused. Asana Rebel is GMBH and HO is Berlin, Germany, so they should be subject to EU law covering cooling off period. Even though this is digital content, you should be covered if you haven't streamed or downloaded the content, which I haven't. Email from Asana was signed off "Peter", no title, department. Very poor customer service. I will be pushing back at them to get the refund.

Asana Rebel & Trustpilot, big SCAMMERS!!

On January 25, 2024 I submitted a review about the scams from Asana Rebel. I used Trustpilot because is the only platform that appears to allows feedback for Asana Rebel which headquarters are in Germany. Today February 21, 2024 Trustpilot (HQ in Denmark) requested additional information about my review per Asana Rebels request and threaten to remove my review if I don't respond within 3 days. I responded but Trustpilot removed my review regardless. Today I reported this new information and actions taken by Trustpilot and Asana Rebel to the Federal Trade Commission. People: report these type of scams to reportfraud.ftc.gov, this is the federal government's website where you can report fraud, scams, and bad business practices.

Great Workout App

I love the activity tracking calendars, however sometimes when I complete downloaded workouts , it doesn’t register that I completed a workout. Apart from that, there’s a wide variety of workouts based on intensity and time which is great. Definitely recommend this app.

Newer workouts and updates

Looking at the app advertising on Facebook and instagram there seems to be new workouts that aren’t on my version of the app even if I update it so it means that there aren’t new movements or workouts. I would like further updates on my version of the app. I have updated it myself but the workouts in newer advertisements aren’t included . I’m wondering why? I have contacted you before regarding this.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We apologize for any discrepancies between the advertised content and the version of the app you're using. We constantly work to improve and add new workouts and features to the app. If you've updated the app, and you're still not seeing the advertised content, it may be a regional or device-specific issue. We recommend reaching out to our customer support team at [email protected] with specific details, including your device type and the version of the app you're using. They'll be able to investigate and assist you further to ensure you have access to the latest content and features. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your patience as we work to provide the best possible experience for our users.

Unauthorised payments

I subscribed to this service in 2022 but my account was never activated. Despite numerous emails back and forth with Asana Rebel, I eventually recovered the subscription charge by raising a dispute with my Bank. Asana Rebel continue to charge me each year, in 2023 and 2024, despite acknowledging that I do not have an account. Businesses like these are the reason continuous authority payments should never be set up.

Date of experience : 20 February 2024

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Asana Rebel, Juliet. It sounds like a very frustrating situation to be in, especially when you've made efforts to resolve the issue through communication and with your bank. Continuous payment authorities can indeed lead to such issues, and it's important for consumers to be vigilant about monitoring their accounts for unauthorized charges. If you haven't already, you might consider reaching out to Asana Rebel again to see if there's a way to permanently cancel any charges associated with your account and ensure that they cease billing you. It could also be helpful to keep documentation of all your interactions with them in case you need to escalate the issue further or seek assistance from consumer protection agencies.

Love the routines on this app (easy to fit into a busy schedule and the instructors are great) but it would be better if there was new content added on a regular basis. I’ve been using the app for 2 years and won’t renew if there is no new content to keep me motivated

Thank you for your feedback, and we're delighted to hear that you love the routines and find them easy to fit into your schedule with great instructors. Used it for years - still come to it with joy

Great app - had it for years now, very reasonably price, great content, would just wish to be able to add my selected flow to the calendar

Date of experience : October 19, 2023

Dear Georges, We're delighted to hear that you've been enjoying Asana Rebel for years and find our content valuable. Knowing that our users are satisfied with the service is genuinely rewarding. Your feedback regarding the enhancement of the calendar functionality is very insightful. The ability to personalize one's fitness journey by scheduling specific flows in advance is indeed a feature that could add significant convenience and motivation to our users' routines. We understand that integrating your chosen flows into a calendar can assist in better tracking, consistency, and progress in your wellness journey. Rest assured, I will relay your suggestion to our product development team, as we continuously aspire to evolve the app based on our users' experiences and needs. In the meantime, we recommend utilizing the 'Favorites' feature to quickly access the flows you prefer, even though we recognize it's not a direct solution to your calendar integration preference. Thank you again for your commitment to Asana Rebel and for taking the time to provide us with feedback. It's insights like yours that help us refine and improve the user experience. Warm regards, Customer Support, Asana Rebel

Great but it doesn't track progress properly

It is great but it doesn't track the days that I did workout properly. Like I did 2 workouts today and it doesn't show up in the activity calendar so it's like I haven't done anything at all

Date of experience : October 22, 2023

Dear Maria, Thank you for reaching out and providing feedback about our app. We're pleased to hear that you find the application great overall. However, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with the activity calendar not tracking your workouts accurately. This is definitely not the intended user experience, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Our team will investigate the issue and work on resolving it as soon as possible. In the meantime, if you have any additional details or screenshots that can help us better understand the problem, please feel free to share them. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We value your feedback, as it helps us improve and provide a better experience for our users.

They not provide a program

They not provide a program, as they pretend on the advertisement. There is a bunch of questions before you download the app totally useless since there is no individual program, just to make you trust in something actually they not provide. They show a lot of advanced positions as a target that you will never rich with this app. It's just a collection of ,even pretty good, video coloured by an amount of bul**hit of vegan receipts an "life suggestions" dropped like in a sauce pot randomly .. Like "ONE WEEK WITHOUT SUGAR" or "Intermitting Fasting" and solution is "stay one week without sugar" or "do intermitting fasting because is good!" or "don't be stressed because is not healthy!" (Thanks for noting! Really???!😱) . There is some good , that's why I give you two stars instead of one, video and girl voice it's pretty nice and clear and it's not very expensive, but it's not enough for what you promise. I saw they tried some improvement adding new video for the beginners on 2024, corrected some bugs (but there are others that stop your challenge , like "new year challenge" and that's really annoying). There is a lot of work to do before consider that a good App. Please start with introducing some video for more advanced users (a path for hand standing for instance) or Kakasana (crow pose) at least? If I would see start such programs I would immediately change my review for better.

Not thrilled with this company’s app or…

Not thrilled with this company’s app or its level of customer service when it came to trying to cancel. They wouldn’t issue a refund to me which is unfortunate for them because for my $35.99 yearly sub service membership they now get to have me write poor reviews of them in as many places as I can find. But seriously I just couldn’t get into the app enough to use it on a regular basis. The alerts were so much the at I ended up turning them off and then almost never used it. Not worth the money or headache when it automatically renews on you and you forgot to cancel and then can’t even get a refund when you reviewed your credit card statement and hit them up about it.

Date of experience : February 08, 2024

This may be the only negative review you read

Be warned before your give them your credit card No notification of renewal of subscription but they were able to send me a receipt. Refused to refund. Be warned if you trust this company with your credit card. Their justification (from George in customer services on 29th December) "We are unable to process a refund in your case because you did not request the cancelation of your subscription's automatic renewal before it occurred. Renewed subscriptions are not refundable." I submitted this review previously and it was not published as they requested additional information which I did not have available at the time. There's a time limit of 2 days to respond. I believe this is how they keep truthful, negative reviews off their profile. To avoid any doubt, this is a genuine review of a subscription taken on 27th December 2023, PayPay transaction ID 30G063666W5954703. I have pursued this via PayPay and received a full refund.

Not enough company feedback

I was checking the reviews prior to purchasing, however I have noticed that only replies have been given to positive feedback. What about the critiques? Surely a company looking to listen to its customers and improve would respond to all feedback regardless.

Date of experience : October 07, 2023

Hello Ange, You make a valid point. It's important for companies to listen to all customer feedback, including critiques and negative reviews. Constructive criticism can provide valuable insights into areas that may need improvement and help a company enhance its products or services. While it's common for companies to respond to positive feedback as a way to express gratitude and maintain a positive relationship with satisfied customers, addressing negative feedback is equally important. Companies should view negative feedback as an opportunity to: 1. **Identify Issues:** Negative feedback can highlight specific issues or pain points that customers have experienced. Addressing these issues can lead to product/service improvements. 2. **Show Commitment to Improvement:** Responding to negative feedback demonstrates a company's commitment to addressing customer concerns and continuously improving its offerings. 3. **Regain Trust:** When handled effectively, responding to negative feedback can help rebuild trust with dissatisfied customers and potentially turn them into loyal customers. 4. **Learn and Adapt:** Customer feedback is a valuable source of information for a company to learn about areas of weakness and adapt to changing customer needs. 5. **Enhance Reputation:** A company that actively addresses negative feedback and makes improvements based on customer input can enhance its reputation for customer service and product quality. If you've come across an instance where a company has not responded to valid critiques, you can consider reaching out to their customer support or using other channels (e.g., social media, email) to provide your feedback directly. Many companies appreciate constructive feedback and use it as a catalyst for positive change.

SCAMMERS! Signed up through Instagram. I filled out the questionnaire, set up my account and paid the money. Downloaded the app and it didn't recognise me. Filled out the questionnaire again and it wouldn't let me in unless I paid again. No way of cancelling it if you can't get into your account. I've called my bank and they have put a stop on them taking more money.

Reply from Asana Rebel

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, it sounds incredibly frustrating. Dealing with scammers can be a difficult and disheartening process. It's good that you've taken proactive steps by contacting your bank to prevent further unauthorized charges. In situations like these, it's essential to report the scam to the relevant authorities, such as consumer protection agencies or fraud reporting services. Additionally, if you have any documentation of your interactions with the scammers, it could be useful to provide that information to help in any investigations. Moving forward, it's wise to be cautious when signing up for services, especially when they're promoted through social media platforms like Instagram. Always research the company thoroughly and look for reviews or testimonials from other users before making any payments. And remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

False advertising

I do enjoy the short and often challenging (intermediate) workouts. I do think you can easily build strength with these workouts However i am totally confused by the advertising campaigns. They show all sorts of acrobatic moves that have nothing to do with the actual workouts in the app. I also find it rather boring that they never upliad new workouts. I still see the same old qorkouta that were there when i signed up months ago.

Subscription can't be cancelled, end up being charged

I've asked for my subscriptionto be cancelled and it wasn't and then had to pay for the automatic renewal. They wouldn't refund. So I've asked again to cancel my subscription to prevent the same happening again next year, after several attempts they ha e confirmed they ha e done this, but on my account it is still showing as automatic renewal. Please do not download this app, they make it very difficult for you to cancel and charge you every year.

I've recommended this many times to others

I have over 20 yrs experience attending yoga classes and I'm here to say that these exercises are spot on. I do recommended beginners attend live class for 6mos, give or take, to get personal corrections, but once you get the hang of it, these recorded classes are excellent.

Thank you for sharing your valuable insights and experience! It's wonderful to hear that you find the exercises in Asana Rebel to be spot on, especially for those with some prior experience in yoga. Your recommendation for beginners to attend live classes initially is sound advice to ensure proper alignment and corrections. We appreciate your feedback, and if you ever have more insights or questions, please feel free to reach out. Keep up the great work on your yoga journey!

Really nice app

Really nice app, that motivates me every day. I have been using it for 2 years and I have noticed the changes I have set up for myself. The only wish I would make: I don't want to think too much what exercise to choose (since it's challenging to get youself to workout) in the beginning. Maybe the app could suggest me 2 - 3 workouts depending on the time I have

Date of experience : 03 December 2023

Dear Kristina, Thank you for your kind words and valuable feedback! We're delighted that Asana Rebel has been motivating you for the past two years. Your suggestion is excellent, and we'll definitely consider it for future improvements. If you have any more ideas or questions, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]. Love Asana Rebel!

I’ve been with Asana Rebel for several years. I have my favourite yoga instructors and I love mixing up the workouts. They categorize the workouts so you know if it’s high, medium or low intensity. They also have challenges - if I don’t want to think about what to choose everyday, then I’ll start one of the challenges (21 Day Challenge). Love this! I look forward to the daily question - a quick health fact! I’ve used the mediation and music - either to get me going in the morning or to relax at night. After all this time, I have to admit, I haven’t tried the recipes - but I’ll get there! I’m 57 years old and have arthritis and this app has kept me mobile. The sessions are no more than 30 minutes. I can get a session in (or two) in the morning before work. There have been a few app glitches here and there throughout the years but the customer service is fantastic! Quick and efficient! I highly recommend Asana Rebel for anyone who’s focusing on maintaining mobility, mindfulness and an all around healthy lifestyle.

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful experience with Asana Rebel! We're truly grateful for your loyalty as a long-term user and for your detailed feedback. It's fantastic to hear that the app has been instrumental in keeping you mobile and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Your insights into the challenges, daily questions, and the variety of workouts are very much appreciated. If you ever decide to try the recipes, we hope you enjoy them too! Thank you for your recommendation, and if you ever have more insights or questions in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. Keep up the great work, and here's to your continued health and wellness journey!

Well organised app with everything really easy to find. The introduction to yoga was really good as I had never done any before and it taught me enough to get started properly without going on for ages. I’m hooked on using the app now and miss it if I don’t manage to do any for a few days. The recipes are good too. Asana Rebel Reviews and Why You Should Never Use It (Updated 2023)

Workout Plans | Written by Nathan Petitpas | Updated on 14 April 2023

A series of four images showcasing the Asana Rebel app and its features, the first image depicts a woman performing yoga at sunset, the second image displays the app tracking exercise progress, the third image shows a woman pairing her phone and smartwatch to begin her yoga routine, and the final image displays a woman doing a jumping fitness workout.

Table of Contents

Asana Rebel reviews range from great to horrible across platforms such as the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, Trust Pilot and various websites so its hard to get an accurate and unbias opinion on the quality of the app, and it’s features.

For this reason, we will compile and digest reviews from several platforms, dive into the app ourselves, and cover the ins and outs of this fitness app’s classes such as yoga flows, meditation, workout programs, HIIT courses and additional features such their habits tracker (sleep, water), food tracker, recipes including slimming detox juice , and music for sleep too.

All in all the app does provide excellent value for most users, but why some users should never use it is because it lacks illustrations and demonstrations of yoga poses for beginners, and for more advance users, it lacks live classes unlike similar apps on the market.

That being said, Asana Rebel is a good fit for most people and each individual should read about the pros, cons, and updated 2023 information to decide if the app is worth using.

What Is Asana Rebel? Is the Asana Rebel App Any Good?

Asana rebel is a fitness app that has been around since its establishment in 2015, making it one of the oldest fitness apps and certainly among the biggest with over 10 million users in its ranks.

The app takes a yoga based approach to helping millions get in shape, and additionally is an excellent choice for those searching for complete workouts, recipes and wanting to engage in and develop a healthy lifestyle with a holistic approach that’s proven to work .

Many of the workouts contained in the app are a mix of yoga and high intensity interval training (HIIT) movements that employ calisthenics (a form of strength training using body weight).

High intensity interval training (HIIT) is a type of training that employs a number of rounds of training alternating between short bursts of high intensity training to elevate the heart rate followed by lower intensity exercises. 1

What’s more, it allows users to track their progress on their journey to achieving their weight and fitness goals.  Asana Rebel has helped pave the way for other fitness apps that came later in the scene and shown that fitness apps can be a versatile and viable option for home workout plans.

This is clearly seen by the sheer amount of active downloads and presence in the social media sphere; clearly, the app is a popular choice and has been for many years.

However, the app does have its limitations especially for individuals looking for routines with much more variety, particularly those looking to strength training as a way to achieve their fitness goals and advanced users. The common adage is that the proof is in the pudding.

And after years of having been tried and tested, and the introduction of other apps that have come into the market, the updated reviews should give a better picture of what users are saying about the app.

A Summary of Asana Rebel Reviews on Apple App Store & Google Play Store

There are mixed Asana Rebel reviews on different platforms with some positive and negative reviews in 2023, that are almost worrying in some cases and the app is very general and not specific in content, lacking a target audience such as those wanting cardio or seeking to bulk up.

For this reason, each person should decide if it’s wroth it for themselves by inspecting a summary reviews from popular platforms such as Google Play Store, TrustPilot and Apple App store.

Apple App Store Reviews on Asana Rebel

Asana Rebel has almost 8000 reviews on the Apple App store with an average of 4.6/5, a fairly good rating. Most users have given the app either 4 or 5 stars, with the majority giving 5 stars.

The positive reviews mostly had to do with the variety of workouts and instructors. They also were happy with the customer service support and that the investment amount was fair.

The users who rated the app with a few stars mostly complained of being billed incorrectly, especially when there was an offer and ended up getting billed the full amount. Many times, the company did respond to the review in an attempt to resolve it.

Some complained that the correct yoga terms were not being used and that the instructors move too quickly through the poses.

Overall, many people were happy but those familiar with yoga or wanted more content were displeased. However, the company did respond to both negative and positive reviews.

Google Play Store Reviews on the Asana Rebel App

The app has a fairly good rating on Google Play store with a 4.5/5 rating received from almost 60,000 votes. Many of those who were happy with the app were beginners keen on embarking on their yoga based fitness journey and were happy with the level of detail in the instructions—they were also pleased with how the workouts were short enough to be cramped into their schedules.

Additionally, there were a number who were pleased with the sleep program and the recipes available to them.

Those with negative reviews complained of how the instructors were rushing them through the poses, some complained about the video format being clunky and not having organization through chapters. Some have a hard time navigating through the app and complaining that it is slow and some also complained about the music not being ideal.

There are some users who were being kicked out of the app and not having access to the videos after the 14 days trial subscription in spite of paying for the whole year. Overall, the majority of the users gave the app 5 stars, with some rating it at 4 stars and the minority giving it a lower rating.

What Reviews of Asana Rebel From Trustpilot Say

Trustpilot has a low rating on Asana Rebel with an average of 3.8/5 based on 368 reviews. Just over half gave the app a 5 star rating and about 20% gave it a 4 star rating; almost 20% gave the app a 1 star rating.

Those who have given it a 5 star rating were a mix of beginners and some who have been practicing yoga for years.

They felt that the works had enough variation and flow to them and that the instructions were concise and not too bearing. Many enjoyed the sleep, music and meditations and were also delighted with the instructors on leading and guiding through the workouts and meditations.

There was a general satisfaction with the benefits accrued from the workout.

Many of those that had negative reviews overwhelmingly complained about billing issues. Many had their subscriptions automatically renewed and what’s worse, they received no response to their support tickets on their complaints.

Some thought they successfully canceled, only to be billed for another year.

Overall, what brings down the ratings on Trustpilot have to do with the financial part of the app and how users felt ‘scammed’ into paying for something that they didn’t want anymore.

Asana Rebel Reviews: Reddit Insights

As with the other platforms mentioned above, the reviews for the app are a mixed bag. A reviewer mentioned that they used it for a year only to realize that the recordings were short and quite repetitive.

The instructors had varying styles but teaching the same poses, and they were rushing through these poses to keep up with them which led them to developing bad technique to keep up with the yoga poses forcing them to re-learn these poses, which defeats the purpose of the app.

There were also a number of customers complaining about the billing issues rampant with the company with many trying to cancel and/or having their subscriptions auto renewed.

Is Asana Rebel Good for Weight Loss?

The Asana Rebel app may be good for weight loss due to some features and programs that are available to the user to aid in weight loss; these include recipes and some classes that can assist users lose fat for those users looking for a similar change brought on by a peloton before and after weight loss program.

When someone downloads the app, they are prompted to give a general overview of 3 or more of their goals including losing weight, getting a toned body or sleeping better. There are no specifics such as calorie count or goals relating to sets and reps that would help cut fat.

With that being said, in spite of the app being very much a yoga app and as per a number of Asana Rebel reviews, there are certain classes with elements that can help with weight loss including core training, HIIT classes, standard strength training and a  metabolism booster course too.

Should I Use Asana Rebel To Build Muscle?

As mentioned in the previous section, the app does come with some strength training workouts that target the entire body, including the core muscles. Consistent strength training using bodyweight can help build and tone muscle.

However, those who are looking to bulk up, grow substantive mass and harden muscles are better of engaging in a strength training programs such as enrolling in a beginner hypertrophy program that employs the use of weights and / or acquire apps that have extensive calisthenic programs that can help the user build considerable muscle.

Is Asana Rebel Ideal for Beginners?

Asana Rebel provides a viable platform for those who are new to the fitness world and looking to improve their health by reducing weight, increasing flexibility and toning their bodies. It provides a complete and general approach to fitness and doesn’t come with intense workout programs suited for those who are already engaged in routine exercises.

The app has a clean and simple layout without requiring too much customization that may confuse and disorient beginners who are simply looking for information to help them achieve their fitness and health goals. There are many apps on the market now that are too complex for users and may actually put them off from the whole experience.

Source: Monoliza21 via Canva.com 11

However, it should be noted that using Asana Rebel for beginners who have typically not done yoga poses, the app falls short in that it doesn’t have pictures of the yoga poses that it is asking its users to perform. In many cases, individuals may need to go to other sources to get this information which defeats the educational purpose of the app.

If they are able to familiarize themselves with these poses, then it doesn’t take much for the beginner to take to the app.

How Many Calories Does Asana Rebel Burn?

Determining the amount of calories that an individual can burn with Asana Rebel will be dependent on the weight of the individual, the intensity of the exercise as well as the time spent exercising and it can be estimated using the metabolic equivalent (MET). This is essentially the metabolic equivalent of doing certain tasks when compared to others.

For example, sleeping may have a MET of 0.95 and burns relatively little calories, while eating and performing light office duties may have a MET of 1.5.

On the other hand, carrying heavy loads and digging ditches may have a MET of 8 as opposed to light jogging and walking having a MET of 6. Hatha yoga has a MET value of 3 and a HIIT workout has a MET value of 8.

The MET calculator from the University of Cornell allows a user to input their weight, the time of activity and provides a list of MET values that can be used to gauge the actual activity or something similar. 2 Assuming someone has chosen to engage in either the HIIT or metabolism booster which are high intensity workouts, the MET value would be 8.

If the user of the app weighs 150 lbs. and works out intensely for an hour using this MET value, they can expect to burn approximately 545 kcal which can certainly help those looking to achieve a 1000 calorie deficit . However, a yoga session with a MET value of 3 lasting an hour would burn approximately 204.5 kcal .

Asana Rebel Before and After Results & Measurements (Madeline’s Transformation)

Asana Rebel has helped transform physiques of individuals who have engaged in the program consistently and for a while similarly to peloton strength before and after —here are the before and after results with pictures and the change that came about in their measurements.

Madeleine’s Asana Rebel Before & After Transformation

After looking over Asana rebel reviews, Madeleine tried the Asana Rebel app for a month to see if she could lose some weight as she was tired of being fat in some areas, particularly the waist.

She took measurements of herself both before and after she began the challenge; she weighed 121 lbs., her bust was 88 centimeters, her arms circumference was 26 centimeters, her waist 68 centimeters, her hips 90 centimeters and thighs 51 centimeters.

Her abs became more visible and her arms were more toned although she was expecting them to increase in size but it was likely due to a reduction in fat. She also felt her hips were now fuller and her body was generally more toned and enjoyed the experience.

She would spend 20-25 minutes a day exercising using the app.

After using Asana Rebel almost every day for a month, she now weighed 118 lbs., her bust was 86 centimeters, her arms circumference reduced to 25 centimeters, she lost 2 centimeters on her waist and was now 66 centimeters and her thighs and hips stayed the same.

While Madeleine did not have a significant change akin to a cycling body transformation female result, she still did have a positive outcome, showing the app does help users get healthier.

What Type of Training Does Asana Rebel Have?

Asana Rebel has a number of training classes that help users achieve their training goals targeting the full body, core and can get their bodies moving or mediation classes to help enhance mood and sleep. These can be a stepping stone to get into more intensive plans such as the peloton workout plan .

Thirty day transformation challenge —this is a series of workouts that spans 30 days and targets the entire body using strength training.

Strength training regularly, even using body weight alone, has been shown to increase fat loss due to increased muscle mass that needs more calories to maintain, which results in fat being used to supply energy thus causing weight loss. 3

Full body challenge — this program that targets the body involves exercises such as low plank, high to low plank, table top toe tabs, high plank to downward dog and one handed high plank to toe tap.

Spring into March challenge —a program for helping in both strengthening and toning.

Six-pack challenge —the Asana Rebel 21 day six pack challenge program targets the core muscles and helps build abs of steel, although individuals with bad ab genetics will likely need more intense exercise to grow their abs.

HIIT workout —this is a high intensity workout that lasts 26 minutes and is a great calorie burner. HIIT has been shown to aid in weight loss, despite shorter times that someone engages in the exercise. 4

Pilates classes —these are classes which also target the core, abs and help in flexibility.

Metabolism booster —the app has a mega booster class for metabolism that is only 5 minutes long, perfect for those on tight schedules, and is ideal for burning calories which helps in weight loss.

Yoga exercises —there are yoga exercises for toned legs including low boat crunches, warrior 3 to lunge, low plank jumps and the vinyasa yoga flow which is a 11 minute session that can be done on rest day to help the body recover and rest

What Features Does the Asana Rebel App Have?

The Asana Rebel app does have some features that helps users achieve their fitness goals including healthy habits, meditations and recipe content.

A variety of food, including eggs, berries, tomatoes, and slices of meat, is served in a black bowl and on a wooden coaster.

Source: Trang Doan via Pexels 12

Healthy habits —this feature helps users maintain a healthy lifestyle by helping them keep track of habits such as planning to have 8 hours of sleep and/ or drinking water—those who favor sports drinks might be wondering is propel water good for losing weight and if it can be a substitute for drinking water. It may be in some cases, however regularly drinking water still has many benefits and is considered a healthy habit.

Meditation —the app offers meditation sessions that are guided walking users through the process to help them focus on breathing with some lasting as long as 15 minutes and some 5 minutes short. They do not have any spiritual bias and can be used by everyone.

They help users improve their sleep, have relaxed moods, and mindfully eat.

Daily plan and activity log —the app provides the user with a set of structured activities that they need to complete for the day and under the activity tab, there is a log that shows the progress the user has made over time. The app shows how much time has been spent in exercise, meditation and focusing (music) thus showing improvements that have been made.

Daily quizzes —there are daily quizzes that are a gentle nudge for the users making them more mindful towards fitness providing a fun way to acquire scientific knowledge on nutrition , health and exercise. The quizzes are part of the daily plan marked as tasks to be completed.

Music for focus and sleep —under the exploration tab, users can find a selection of music to help them focus. The clips feature binaural beats which are 2 different tones played at the same in each ear causing the brain to compensate by a third which is the binaural beat.

These help synchronize the brain waves allowing for better focus and sleep.

Recipes —the app also comes with an elaborate recipe section that encourages its users to healthier eating and can be filtered by those with special diet concerns such as vegans, those looking for gluten free meals and those on a keto diet which are a part of trending diets . While these recipes are not entirely radical, they can provide the motivation towards wholesome eating— altering eating habits promotes calorie reduction, and when combined with physical activity , has been shown to promote weight loss. 5

The Pros & Upsides to Using Asana Rebel

As can be expected and inferred at this point, Asana Rebel has a number of benefits and advantages such as having a clean app design, has some effective workouts and includes recipe content.

  • Has a clean app design —the Asana Rebel app has a clear and simple user interface making it easy to use even to the least tech savvy users who are easily able to find recipes, workouts and content with ease.
  • Elaborate recipe content —the app has an over the top content for recipes that inspire users to make healthier eating choices to help them achieve their goals.
  • Includes meditations —yoga is always associated with some form of meditation which is at the heart of this app, and the audio meditations help improve the mind connection making for a healthier lifestyle.
  • Set daily routine —Asana Rebel app gives the user a structured daily plan that keeps the fitness enthusiast committed and accountable to their workout routine, which can’t come from following fitness channels on YouTube.
  • Sufficient workouts —the workouts on the app are good enough to get a beginner on the path to getting fit. Despite not having programs that make use of dumbbells or barbells, they are effective at getting the body moving and working up a sweat. The inclusion of yoga adds another dimension of improving users’ flexibility, mobility, enhancing functional strength and improving balance.
  • Encourages healthy lifestyle —the app has a ‘healthy habits’ feature which helps users track wholesome habits such as regularly drinking water, and while basic, these recommendations and daily reminders to indulge in habits beneficial to the user is a plus.
  • Helps keeps tabs on progress —the app’s activity tab feature that allows a user to keep track of the progress they are making as they advance in their program by use of a log. There is an active streak feature showing how many days the app has been used successively showing how much time has been spent exercising, meditating and so on—in this way, the progress the user made is quantified due to accessing these metrics.

What Asana Rebel Is Good for & Who Should Use It

Asana Rebel is an app that gets beginners’ feet wet by providing a simple guide and plan to enjoy basic workouts and providing structured guidance on the same—they typically need motivation and need access to tools that help with mind development—it is also a great option for those who want the benefits of a gym at home.

Structured guidance and motivation —the app is excellent for those who need guidance and motivation, which is true for beginners and those with busy and hectic schedules; simple tools of engagement such as the hydration tracker keeps the user engaged with the app and provides motivation.

Home gym —gyms often provide services such as personal trainers who customize workout plans as per the client needs and specialized workout classes. The app does an excellent job at fulfilling these for the user making it a viable option for those not looking to fork out money to a gym for these services.

Non experts – Asana Rebel is great for beginners and novices alike, but for those who have been meditating, doing yoga, dieting or exercising for quite some time they may find the app’s features lackluster in comparison to other apps with more specificity.

Mind development —the mediation feature on the app allows those looking to develop their minds along with their exercise routine and there are mindfulness tips that a user is notified each day on their daily plan. In addition, there are meditations that can enhance sleeping patterns and help users relax both mind and body at the twilight of the day.

The Cons & Downsides of the Asana Rebel App

Conversely, there are some downsides to using the app such as being quite pricey, having some negative reviews online and not being specialized.

A man wearing a blue formal long-sleeve polo with a red necktie is sitting outside and looking frustrated at a laptop.

Source: Nicola Barts via Pexels 14

  • Very pricey compared to competitors —this is relative to the fact there are so many competitors out there offering workout solutions compared to 2015 when the app first came out. Many competitors are offering value for money on their apps because they often have live classes, performance trackers and use much more advanced technology which places the Asana Rebel app at a pricing disadvantage.
  • Pricing inconsistencies —the app offers a free version to first time users which has limited features that can only be unlocked with an upgrade. While this is true for the competitors that offer a paid membership to get full access, the Asana Rebel app offers a multitude of plans including Rebel premium, Asana Rebel pro, Asana Rebel super etc which may prove too confusing for the user.
  • Daily plan inadequacies —it is impossible to customize and alter the daily plan once it has been created which is an inconvenience for those who may have busy schedules.
  • Teachers —often, users will want to get the credentials of those that they are training with, to check if they are worth the time to help them get good results. The app makes it hard to verify the credibility of the instructors of which many competitors do provide this information.
  • Wi-Fi and storage —the app doesn’t function without Wi-Fi and uses a lot of storage space on the mobile device which could slow other functions.
  • Specialization —Asana Rebel app is more of an app offering general plans and is not specialized to suit specific goals by having targeted customized workout routines . Many users may sign up thinking it’s a full blown yoga app. This is where the app fails to deliver as it does not specialize, which means it does not appeal to a certain niche which could end up making it appeal to no one.
  • Limited trial —the free version of the app is really of no use to a user and a full sign up is needed to take advantage of the programs on offer.
  • Online reviews —the Asana Rebel app’s TrustPilot page reviews are a concern for new users because many of them reflect poor customer service, especially when it comes to billing. Many users have tried to get the service canceled, but still get billed and have a difficult time getting refunds which can be a horror to deal with.

Why Some People Should Never Use Asana Rebel & Who It’s Bad For

For individuals looking for specialized workout apps in strength training and /or yoga should not turn to this app, individuals who are well advanced in their training programs and are looking to build on where they started and those not specifically focused on weight loss.

A woman with short dark hair wearing a striped pattern shirt is standing in front of a bright pink background, she has her hand held up in an "X" gesture with her palm facing the side.

Yoga experts and those with yoga experience —at its core, Asana Rebel is yoga based but cannot match and come close to taking a yoga class.

Granted, users will learn basic yoga principles through features such as breathwork and warrior foundations, but Asana Rebel doesn’t label its yoga using the styles of yoga such as hatha, kundalini, restorative, ashtanga and power yoga .

Those curious about yoga are better off with other apps that can even provide information on learning how to chant and understanding Sanskrit terms.

Seriously overweight people and those searching for mental wellbeing —the app is very helpful in helping individuals looking to lose weight by capturing goal weight, current weight and height of users when they begin using the app which provides a yardstick and way to track progress.

Those who are looking for mental and emotional wellbeing through yoga to improve certain aspects of their lives such as mood enhancement, sleeping better and stress reduction should turn to alternatives.

Advanced athletes who require more progressive and robust content —individuals who have already started their fitness journeys are likely not to find the routines and classes on the app as challenging. None of them require the use of additional resistance such as dumbbells, kettlebell and barbells and making use of concepts such as progressive overload to achieve muscle growth.

Progressive overload is an incremental increase in load, frequency and reps of training which increases muscle growth. 6 The app is therefore not ideal for those looking to bulk.

Is There an Asana Rebel Free Trial?

Asana Rebel does not offer a free trial of its app for its paid subscription. It does however offer a free version of its app that is very limited in its features, and is not worthwhile for someone looking to benefit from it as it only serves to give a user an idea of the app.

Asana Rebel does however allow users full access to their classes, workouts, and recipes on a paid Asana Rebel subscription and users can cancel after 14 days if the app is not what they are looking for.

Asana Rebel Cost: What’s the Price of an Asana Rebel Subscription?

The Asana Rebel app gives the user the choice of either a monthly or yearly subscription—the monthly charge is US $15.99 while the yearly subscription sets back the user US $82.99 both of which have the option to be canceled within two weeks. There is also a variation on different types of subscription such as Rebel premium, Asana Rebel pro, Asana Rebel super etc.

Asana Rebel’s website does have occasional promotional offers such as a US $9.99 monthly deal with 6 months free after the purchase of an annual subscription of US $35.99 . It should be noted that the app has a different narrative for a promotional deal with a monthly price of US $15.99 which causes some confusion.

Alternatives to Asana Rebel & Competing Apps for Each Discipline

Since the inception of Asana Rebel, a number of apps have been released catering and specializing to varying disciplines such as yoga, weightlifting, HIIT training and live and fitness workouts. Users should look into these alternatives especially due to a number of negative Asana Rebel app reviews that shed a negative light on the app.

Alo Moves vs Asana Rebel

Alo is among the top rated and popular yoga apps and is specialized, providing diverse yoga classes that include live classes for those who are subscribed members.  The app makes it easy for users to be familiar with instructors and makes it easy to follow one that they have a preference over and therefore receive additional workouts unique to them.

In addition, Alo also has meditation and fitness workouts and some content pertaining to skills that can help users perfect their yoga and poses. It also offers a free trial period and costs US $99 annually and has a 4.9/5 Apple store rating.

Asana Rebel vs Beachbody

Beachbody has an average customer rating of 4.9/5 on Apple from almost 300,000 verified customers happy with its fitness streaming services and should be among the first alternatives for enthusiasts looking for a get in shape app.

It offers an affordable membership, giving member’s access to a robust health and fitness content that easily dwarfs what Asana Rebel has on offer; there are over 1500 workouts to follow and 75 structured programs catered to different goals such as weight loss, cardio or strength training.

There is also community support, nutritional plans giving users guidance on healthy eating and professional guidance to achieving fitness objectives. Beachbody on demand takes things further—with an additional upgrade, the BODi membership allows subscribers access to on-demand workouts and live classes.

The membership comes in at US $99 yearly, but for all that the app offers, this is truly the best value for money especially when pegged against an annual gym membership.

Openfit vs Asana Rebel

Openfit is among the reasonably priced fitness apps on the market today due to the amount of content it offers. The app offers a comprehensive library of on-demand workouts, meal plans and workout programs for a subscription of US $96 annually.

With such a diverse content, it would be hard to not find exercises not suited to a particular niche covering everything from walking workouts to kickboxing classes.

Users who have Beachbody on demand membership also have access to the content available on Openfit which makes Beachbody’s membership even better value for money.

Asana Rebel vs P.volve

P.volve is gaining traction in the fitness world offering a blend of HIIT, yoga, resistance training and barre. The app offers programs that are intense enough to work up a sweat but are low impact meaning they can be done by users who have joint issues.

The app enjoys a large community and following which means that users can engage and help each other towards their fitness goals. P.volve also sells slant boards and sliders as accessories for their workouts.

Unfortunately, the Apple rating is at a paltry 2.5/5 and the annual subscription comes in at US $95.88 .

Yoga International vs. Asana Rebel

As the name implies, Yoga International is an app that is dedicated to yoga and gives the user a chance to learn about each yoga pose and how to make progress through practice. The app has a colossal collection of yoga workouts, demonstrations and flows to help learn yoga.

In addition to this, there are related articles at the disposal of subscribers.

A woman wearing a pink top and a black watch strap holding a phone with white screen on a purple background.

Source: instaphotos via Canva.com 17

The app is priced on the high side with annual charges at US $120 and has fairly good ratings at the Apple store at 4.5/5 . This app, unlike Asana Rebel, does not have any strength training and /or weight loss workouts.

Just as users choose to decide between lose it vs myfitnesspal , they should consider if they want their yoga app to want additional workout routines as Asana Rebel does.

Fitbod vs. Asana Rebel

Asana Rebel is clearly not for individuals who are advanced in their strength training and are looking for more intensive workouts to build muscle—this is where Fitbod comes in as a weightlifting app targeted at users looking for strength training programs. The app offers diverse styles of exercises and has an automated program that keeps users on their toes with new challenges.

The charges are comparatively low, with an annual subscription coming in at US $79.99 and the app has a good rating on Apple stores at 4.8/5 .

FiiT vs. Asana Rebel

FiiT offers an affordable solution to fitness workouts providing both live classes and on-demand workouts but this comes at a slightly higher price tag at US $120 a year. However, this is still low compared to an annual gym membership.

The app is quite advanced allowing users to easily track their performance and gauge their progress over time. FiiT is quite the popular app with an almost perfect rating on the Apple store at 4.9/5 .

Obe Fitness vs. Asana Rebel

Obe Fitness takes a different approach to helping users achieve their training goals, switching from instructors who are serious about pushing users to a more inclusive and workouts that suit different kinds of individuals. There are on-demand workouts that cover diverse workout categories like yoga, pilates, cardio boxing and dance cardio.

The app has live classes with a robust schedule and the community is something to take note of and which users can benefit from. It does offer a free trial for new users to get their feet wet and have some idea of what’s on offer.

It is a popular app on the Apple store coming at 4.8/5 but is quite expensive, charging US $ 199 annually.

How Did Asana Rebel Begin? What’s Asana Rebel’s Origins & History?

Asana Rebel was founded by Pascal Klein and Robin Pratap in Germany in 2015, and is considered from the old guard and pioneers of yoga and fitness apps. It has amassed a large following over the years and by 2020, was considered one of the top 10 workout apps that can be used at home.

It has also been nominated as one of the best start-up apps companies based in the EU.

How Long Are Asana Rebel Workouts?

Asana Rebel workouts vary in their span in how long they are completed, with the shortest one running for up to 4 minutes and the longest ones lasting around 40 minutes. On average, the workouts do take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

For example, the core control workshop targeting the core muscles takes only 5 minutes to complete; the same can be said for the mega metabolism booster.

The meditations classes also have some variation with some as long as 15 minutes and others as short as 5 minutes making them perfect for those with busy schedules and simply can’t find the best time to exercise to lose belly fat .

How To Get the Most Out of Your Asana Rebel App Experience

While the Asana Rebel app can help individuals lose weight, build and tone their muscles and even enhance their mood, it is imperative to be mindful of using the app correctly and taking advantage of the benefits on offer by being consistent, eating a healthy diet, and getting enough rest and sleep for recovery.

Consistency —the app is designed in such a way that it caters to those on busy schedules by providing fairly short workouts to fit in a busy schedule; in addition to this, it provides a to do list which ensures goals are completed and makes it easier to plan workouts into a busy lifestyle. In this way, results will be achieved as the body needs constant exercise.

Nutrition —the app provides plenty of information when it comes to eating healthy and consuming foods to achieve calorie deficits (expending more calories than consuming) which will help with weight loss. It will allow the muscles to appear more toned and visible, since proper nutrition will help in their recovery.

Higher intake of protein combined with strength training has been shown to contribute to hypertrophy (muscle growth). 7

Sleep and rest — getting enough sleep and rest are important for muscle growth by helping the body recover from all the work that has been placed on it regardless of whether if it is 6 hours of sleep enough to build muscle vs 7 hours. 8 Fortunately, Asana Rebel has a feature that helps give users guidance on improving their sleep patterns by even allowing them to play soothing sounds to help them slumber.

Since its inception, the Asana Rebel app has been a true game changer in the fitness world helping millions embark on their goals to lead healthier lives.

It also has paved the way for other fitness apps catering to more specialized niches and providing even more robust features—the 2023 Asana Rebel reviews, while showing some positive aspects, have shed light on some inadequacies of the app such as not having enough content, and lacking in advanced features such as live classes and there are also legitimate concerns such as billing that the user should consider before deciding on the app overs its competitors.
